Nightmare Loop has arrived!

Designed to offer a completely new angle to Dead Frontier 2, this brutal end-game challenge unlocks only after you have at least one character who has reached Level 60. Expect to fail multiple times—while your experience matters, the roguelike odds can and will be stacked against you. However, the struggle is entirely worth it: characters that manage to successfully conquer the loop will arrive in the main world decked out with extra perks.

  • The Nightmare Loop option is now available when creating a new character for anyone with at least one level 60.

  • All accounts with at least one level 60 character get an extra character slot

  • A new Nightmare Loop leaderboard has been added along with daily/weekly/monthly credit rewards for those who can complete it the fastest.

Other Updates:

  • 30 New Achievements for the Main Storyline.

  • New Secronom Uniques available for purchase from George Boylan, the Council's faction trader NPC located at Council HQ.

  • A New Transport NPC who can ferry players directly into Secronom's Bunker (requires Adler's Eye to access).

  • Some bugs with how storyline objects, puzzles and unique chests are placed have been fixed.

P.S Nightmare Loop is hard... really hard. It is supposed to be one of the biggest challenges in the game for end-game players. Please keep this in mind when playing and try not to smash up your computer too much when you die!

Client Update

  • Preparations for Nightmare Loop release.

Mini Update

Prep for Easter event and new achievements.

Steam Link Update

Steam Link Update [03/03/26]

  • Existing accounts will be asked if they want to link with Steam, once this is complete you can login quickly without needing to enter your password each time. NOTE: Only one game account can be linked with a given Steam account. Once this is done, it cannot be changed.

  • It is now possible to create an account with Steam instead of manually creating an account.

  • Confirming your email address now carries a permanent +5% EXP boost for all characters.

Achievements & Building Variety Update

  • We have added Steam achievements. Currently there are 67 basic achievements, but we'll be adding a lot more in the next couple of weeks!

  • We added a bunch of new materials to our buildings to help improve the visual variety

  • A bug related to looting was fixed

Client Update

  • Improved variety of building textures
  • Preparations for the achievements system (will be released tomorrow)
  • Preparations for the lunar event (releasing tomorrow)
  • Various bug fixes

Melee: Cleave Update

  • Melee weapons now have a Cleave Damage stat, which is applied to any additional zombies or mutant hit in the same swing.

  • Cleave Damage can be increased both from skills and from equipped items.

  • Each weapon also has a stat called Cleave Targets, this decides the maximum number of zombies or mutants that can receive the Cleave Damage.

  • In addition to the above, all melee weapons now deal +25% more damage and stun the enemies for 33% longer than before.

  • The current values are just a starting point, and we will continue to tweak them based on feedback from players. The goal is to make melee useful until much later in the game than it is currently.

Additional Updates

  • Fixed a bug with health when entering the Killing Grounds

  • Lowered the boosts for participating in the Purge so that PvE players don't feel like it's mandatory to take part.

  • Lowered the number of kills you need to get the higher purge boost, from 10 to 3.

  • The duration of the Purge event is now 20 minutes instead of 60 minutes.

  • The Purge will now only be advertised to players over level 40.

NOTE. You will need to update the game client through Steam in order to use the new Cleave ability.

UPDATE: THE PURGE

In order to help incentivize PvP, we have started a new event: The Purge.

  • 10 minutes after each Outpost Attack ends, The Purge will begin.

  • The Purge event lasts for 1 hour.

  • During the Purge, anyone who scores at least one valid kill in the Killing Grounds (MMO Mode) will be granted a new boost: The Mark of the Purge.

  • Anyone who scores more than 10 valid kills the Killing Grounds (MMO Mode), will have their boost upgraded to: Champion of the Purge

  • The boost both last for 2 hours, after the final kill is scored.

  • For a kill to count, it must follow all the normal PvP leaderboard rules.

This is a server side only update so it is not necessary to update your client in order to take part.
