It's been quite some time since we've done one of these, as the last one was posted a bit before the Hermit's release. I'm the main developer for Dungeon Defenders I, Thales, and I'll be doing a quick catch up on what's planned to come in the next few months for the game and what has been happening behind the scenes. ##### New Skin Coming Soon As with the recent Magical Academy Adept skin, we're having another Anime inspired skin coming soon for the huntress, the Academy Huntress. If you've followed us across the years, you've might have noticed a price increase on the skin cost. This came with the intention of funding the new art and coding teams, which you can read more about on down on the next topic. You can wishlist the skin now to be notified by steam when it releases later this week: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5054490/Dungeon_Defenders__Academy_Huntress_Skin/ ##### New Team behind the scenes When I started on Chromatic back on 2023, I had the support of the community dev team, which I was a part of previously, and that is full of passionate people for the game. As the updates and paid content have been coming out, the community has been supporting the game and growing, which ended up in a new full time team getting hired to work on the Dungeon Defenders. With this new team of coders, designers and artist, we've been working on the following: - New hero skins - New maps such as Etheria's Primordial Palm - New weapon models - New Pet Models - Fixing annoying bugs that have existed in the game for a while - Fixing new bugs that come with updates - Working on a new hero with brand new abilities - Working on the transition to have the 64-bit executable be fully operational with video support The direction of the game balance is still being supervised by me, with a big help as always by the active community in the DDRnG discord server. ##### More Anime Skins Currently, we've been working on Anime inspired skins for the EV, Guardian and Warden. These are planned to be released on a monthly interval, with maybe a new paid map in between them. There might be skins like them for more characters to come later down the line. ##### New Free Map The Community Dev team (mostly Martin) has been working on a new map called Rapid Assembly, which is a steampunk themed map that will function similar to Moonbase, where you can lose 4 of the 7 cores and still beat the map, with a DU penalty and Damaging Explosion near the destroyed cores. Expect some nice looking rewards made by Boltdan to come along with the map, with some new pets too for survival. And just so DPS oriented players don't feel left out, there's also plans on some new dps content to release along with this map, but more information on it will come out closer to release. ##### More Community Events As always, community events with Event Items will keep happening, with support by our Community Hosts voluntary team. You can always keep up to date with these on the Official Dungeon Defenders discord, DDRnG discord and whenever possible by looking at the pinned threads on the steam discussion forums. ##### New Hero Lastly, just to start talking about it. We'll be having a new hero coming out later this year that's going to be a tie in with DD2, with the same hero with small differences, to make up for the passage of time between the games, coming on both games. You'll be able to hear more about them on the next dev blog which will come on the news pages of both DD1 and DD2. and as always, For Etheria!
