Update 81: Terror of Demogorgon Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 81: Terror of Demogorgon, released on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026.

Of Special Note:
Terror of Demogorgon has arrived!

Descend into the depths of the Underdark in the newest Dungeons & Dragons Online expansion. Explore Gravenhollow, an ancient Stone Giant library turned last refuge against the madness consuming the deep. Demon Lords roam freely, spreading ruin and insanity wherever they go, and the factions that once held this realm together are tearing each other apart. Rally unlikely allies and gather the components for a desperate ritual to banish the fiends. Confront Demogorgon himself before his rampage tears the world apart from below!

  • Navigate sprawling grottos, fungal forests, and ancient ruins across the Underdark.

  • Broker uneasy truces in the madness-stricken trading post of Mantol-Derith.

  • Infiltrate the Drow city of Menzoberranzen to pull off a daring heist inside the wizard tower of Sorcere.

  • Survive encounters with Baphomet, Yeenoghu, Graz'zt, Zuggtmoy, and the two-headed terror himself: Demogorgon.

Terror of Demogorgon brings the level cap of Dungeons & Dragons Online to 36! Twelve quests are currently available that are CR 11 on Heroic Difficulty and CR 37 on Legendary difficulty. A thirteenth quest will debut on August 19th, 2026, and our next raid will debut in the near future. Terror of Demogorgon also includes a Wilderness Area that supports quest difficulty.

News and Notes:
Essence Crafting:
  • Essence Crafting now supports up to level 36 items.

  • The Dissolve window has been updated to be much faster. The new flow works similar to a Shop window, with three buttons at the bottom: Add Junk, Clear, and Dissolve.

  • Add Junk adds all items eligible to be dissolved that have been marked as Junk to the Dissolve window, much like the Add All button works for regular selling. Items are eligible to be Dissolved if they are not Sentient, have no slotted Augments, and have no Mythic or Reaper bonuses.

  • **Clear **removes any items in your Dissolve shopping cart.

  • Dissolve consumes all items in your Dissolve cart and grants you Essence Crafting XP and Magic Item Essences. Instead of requiring Dissolvers, the new Dissolve will simply charge you platinum based on the minimum level of the item being Dissolved.

  • Items can also be double-clicked or added to the Dissolve list box the same way you can in any Sell window.

  • The maximum Essence Crafting level has been increased from 400 to 500.

  • More than 100 new recipes are available between levels 400 and 500. These recipes are Split-Prefix, meaning they apply two effects to the Prefix slot. These prefixes have a minimum level of 20. A new tier of collectibles has been added in content above level 31 to support these new recipes. NOTE: These recipes can only be applied to craftable blanks that were created AFTER the release of Update 81. A blank that is already keyed for crafting will need to be Disjuncted again for it to be eligible for these recipes.

  • The Insightful Spell Power Shard has been adjusted to be able to be used as an Extra slot affix for Rings.

  • An Insightful Spell Focus Mastery Shard is also now available which can be an Extra slot for Headgear and Trinkets.

  • Duergar Mindcleaver’s Mind’s Edge attack now deals +20% damage and has adjusted sound and VFX for bigger impact.

  • The visual overlay on weapons from Duergar Mindcleaver’s Imbue with Mind should now consistently override other VFX systems.

  • Legendary Spell Focus: Requires Epic Spell Focus. ML 30. +3 to all spell schools

  • We have corrected a bug that allowed players to “double up” by selecting a school they already had the Spell Focus feat for.

  • Spell Penetration Feats have also been updated:

  • Greater Spell Penetration now grants +4 Spell Penetration.

  • Epic Spell Penetration now grants +6 Spell Penetration.

Items:
  • We've made a suite of new item effects for the loot in this expansion. These largely resemble some existing effects, such as Paralyzing and Telekinetic, but use a system that lets us create them with level-appropriate DCs more easily.

  • There are two kinds of crafting in this expansion: Items that drop with **Nearly Completed **effects, allowing you to select a 4th affix, and Catalyst Crafting, in which you collect Rare Abyssal Catalysts and Deep Catalyst ingredients and combine them with legacy Named Items to create powerful new versions.

  • **Nearly Completed Items: **If you are familiar with **Nearly Finished **in previous content, this is a very similar system. There are six kinds of Nearly Completed present on items in this expansion:

  • Spell School: This allows you to craft on an Equipment bonus to your choice of Spell School.

  • Skill: This allows you to craft on an Exceptional Bonus to a group of skills based on an ability score of your choice (Strength skills, Intelligence skills, etc.)

  • Healing Amplification: This allows you to craft your choice of Competence Bonus to Positive Amplification, Enhancement Bonus to Repair Amplification, or Profane Bonus to Negative Amplification.

  • Ability Score: This allows you to craft on your choice of Enhancement Bonus to Ability Score.

  • Insightful Ability Score: This allows you to craft on your choice of Insight Bonus to Ability Score.

  • Quality Ability Score: This allows you to craft on your choice of Quality Bonus to Ability Score.

  • You will collect Abyssal Gems (Bound to Account) from chests, then use those with these items in a crafting station.

  • **Rare Catalysts & Catalyst Crafting: **The powers of the Abyss and Underdark are manifesting in strange ways. The Rare Items in this expansion pack's chests are **Abyssal Catalysts and Deep Catalysts. **Each of these thirty items relates to a specific item from DDO's history, and when the two are brought together, they can be combined into a powerful new form at either ML11 (for Heroic Catalyst ingredients) or ML35 (for Legendary Catalyst ingredients).

  • To do so, you will need one of the Rare Catalysts along with the specific named item it is associated with - In some cases, this may require the Heroic version of the item for crafting a Heroic item and the Epic or Legendary version for crafting the Legendary one. You will also need a number of Abyssal Gems. Creating the item will consume all of the ingredients, including the named item, to create the new item.

Wilderness Areas:
  • Terror of Demogorgon supports a wilderness area with quest difficulty options:

  • The Slayer quests are the same as other wilderness areas, but you get more credit per enemy defeated on higher difficulties, with a 75% bonus cap in Reaper.

  • XP for Rare quests are also increased on higher difficulties.

  • Explorer XP does not change on higher difficulties.

  • Landscape chests increase their drop rate per standard difficulty rules.

  • Mythic and Reaper bonuses on rewards are possible.

  • There is no “Reaper lock out” for wilderness areas, and there is also not a “10 kill minimum”. However, you do not earn Reaper XP in wilderness areas.

Minor Features and Balance Changes:

Duergar and Iconic Duergar Mindcleaver:
  • We have created an article on DDO.com that delves into the enhancement trees, Past Lives and more for both the Duergar and Iconic Duergar Mindcleaver. Find our guide on DDO.com.

  • Dwarf Race Adjustments: In conjunction with the new Duergar, we're also making the following changes to the base Dwarf's tree:

  • Tier 3: The hole here now contains Multiselector: Favored Enemy: Vermin / Giant / Monstrous Humanoid.

  • Child of the Mountain is now 1 Action Point per rank.

  • The movement speed penalty on Stand Like Stone is now 20% (was 50%).

  • Hands of Stone now uses Stun DCs instead of Transmutation.

  • The base DC of Hands of Stone now starts at 14 (was 10).

  • Dwarven Axe Training 4 now also adds a +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with Dwarven Waraxes.

  • Dwarven Pick & Hammer Training 4 now also adds a +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with Warhammers and Heavy Picks.

Features and Balance Changes
  • Cosmetic Teleportation is now available! Included in your pre-purchase of Terror of Demogorgon is a cosmetic teleportation item that when consumed will display as a Feat. Toggling this Feat will adjust which animation is used when teleporting.

  • Adjustments are being made to the duration of various teleportation items to standardize the system:

  • Teleport spells are now a standing induction that can be interrupted by movement (channel duration matches the current channel time of the expansion teleport items). They can no longer be Quickened.

  • The Key to Eveningstar now has a 20 second cooldown.

  • The D12 Stormreach teleportation item now has a cooldown of 20 seconds.

  • All expansion teleportation items now have a cooldown of 20 seconds.

  • All teleport inductions are now 2.5 seconds instead of 4 seconds.

  • Use Magic Device checks on scrolls now rolls much earlier in the animation cycle.

  • None of these changes affect the Dimension Door Spell.

  • The values of certain loot affixes have been adjusted to significantly boost the rate at which items contribute to Spell DCs. These changes are being made to make it easier to build up a DC caster, especially in a character's Legendary levels.

  • Bonuses found on random loot, crafted loot, and named loot that contribute directly to spell DCs have been increased. This increase includes any item that uses our scaling system, which also includes things like Dinosaur Bone and Viktranium crafting. This increase is focused on the three main channels for Spell DC boosts - Equipment, Insightful, and Quality. Items currently in circulation will update to the new values automatically.

  • This increase starts out smaller in the heroic levels but increases significantly after reaching level 30.

  • Both single-school effects (Such as Necromancy Focus) and all-school effects (Such as Spell Focus Mastery) have been adjusted.

  • We have also adjusted how these effects compare to one another; after these changes, single-school bonuses will always be higher than or equal to their all-school counterparts.

  • We have also adjusted the bonuses on the Heroic and Legendary ring Argonnessen Eye Band to be Sacred-typed to help cut down on typing complexity.

  • We have adjusted the bonuses on the Level 16 and Level 24 Topaz Augments that grant bonuses to Spell DCs to further help cut down on type complexity. These augments will now provide a +5 at level 16 and a +6 at level 24 Equipment bonus to their respective spell school.

  • As an example, an item currently statted for level 34 would have Spell Focus Mastery values of a +5 Equipment bonus to all spell DCs. With these changes, that same item will instead provide a +8 Equipment bonus.

  • As another example, an item currently statted for level 34 would have Necromancy Focus values of +6 Equipment, +3 Insight, and +1 Quality. With these changes, that same item will instead provide +12 Equipment, +6 Insight, and +3 Quality.

  • The Accelerate Spell Metamagic feat now protects applicable spells from being interrupted when taking damage.

  • Randall Lyric now appears in two new locations (Myth Drannor and Lamordia) with a new selection of augments to trade!

  • Items found during the Symphony of the Fey event have lost their event exclusive borders.

  • Going forward, while an event with equipment restrictions is active, only those players playing with those restrictions will see the event-exclusive warning overlays, and they will only see them over items that would provide a penalty.

  • This means that during any other equipment restriction event, players not participating in the event will not see any changes with their items, either new or existing.

  • It also means that if you are playing with those restrictions, you'll be warned for items that are invalid for you, so you'll not see anything over gear that is valid for your usage

  • Items will continue to drop with the "souvenir" effects, and those effects will continue to persist, as a fun reminder of the world-shifting nature of these immersive experiences!

  • New Filigree have been released!

  • There are 6 new Generation 3 Raid Filigree and 2 new Generation 2 Raid Filigree.

  • Divinity/Ultimate Fury: +2 Str (Rare: +4 PRR)

  • Shadowstrike/Bend Fate: +2 Dex (Rare: +4 PRR)

  • Technomage/Unbreakable: +2 Con (Rare: +4 PRR)

  • Lunar Magic/Serpent: +2 Int (Rare: +4 MRR)

  • Abiding Path/Elemental Avatar: +2 Wis (Rare: +4 MRR)

  • Keeper of the Curse/Angelic Wings: +2 Cha (Rare: +4 MRR)

  • Final Burial/Coalesced Magic: +2 Wis (Rare: +4 PRR)

  • Improved Precise Shot now passively increases the Ability Score Modifier bonus to damage for Longbows and Shortbows by +50%, including when the stance is off. This stacks with Precise Shot.

  • Divine Healing now scales with 50% Positive Spell Power (only 50% since the duration is so long). Will now have a line of sight check, double spell range (ray range).

  • Reactive Heal scales with Spell Power.

  • Mechanic

  • Mechanic Bomb spells now use Disable Device plus a 1d20 roll for their DC, just like a Bard's Fascinate ability.

  • Mechanic Improve Traps bonus is now a +1/2/3 Disable Device bonus instead of the previous specific bomb bonus. The DC mod to "rogue traps" is unchanged.

  • Mechanic Bombs now deal:

  • Tanglefoot 4d6 +1 per Sneak Attack die in acid damage every 2 seconds. Crowd Control is the same as before with its Disable Trap Skill DC +1d20 roll.

  • Thunder Stone now does 4d6 +1d4/6/8 per Sneak Attack die in damage. Crowd Control is the same as before with its Disable Trap Skill DC +1d20 roll.

  • Ooze Flask now does 4d6 +1d6/8/12 per Sneak Attack die in damage. Debuff as before with Disable Device Skill DC +1d20 roll.

  • Time bomb will now scale with 200% Ranged Power and also use a Disable Device Skill DC +1d20.

  • Leg Shot has been replaced with Line Up and Sit Down - Ranged attack which is a 250% damage modifier. Knocks down target for 2 seconds with no Saving Throw. 6 second cooldown.

  • Vanguard (fighter/paladin)

  • Follow up now grants 5/10/15 Melee Power and lasts 30 seconds.

  • Battle Guard: Lasts 12 seconds and stacks 5 times, 10 MRR/PRR per stack. Blocking for more than 3 seconds removes all stacks.

  • Shield Charge now applies a knockdown to targets in area for 2 seconds. DC is 10 + highest ability modifier + character level + tripping bonuses, cooldown 25/20/15.

  • Armor Strength melee power bonus increased from 10 to 15.

  • Eldritch Power costs 1 AP and grants 2 Dice instead of 1

  • Misc:

  • Death Ward no longer completely negates negative energy damage from inflict/necro spell damage, but reduces it by 50%. This is flagged with the Shield trait, much like Fire Shield/Energy Shield is for Fire damage. A certain raid boss on the Isle of Dread will now stop stacking negative energy vulnerability, but this will not affect the Temple of the Deathwyrm raid. This also applies to monsters when they cast Death Ward, so Pale Masters and shady Clerics may rejoice.

  • **Lost Souls In Reaper Raids: **The drop rate for Lost Souls in raids has been greatly increased.

  • Epic Destinies:

  • Fury of the Wild's Epic Strike Quick Cutter has had its cooldown increased to 8 seconds. Quick and Bleed duration has been changed to 10 seconds. Blocking for more than 3 seconds removes all stacks.

News and Notes:
  • VIP Crafting Material Tokens have been renamed to VIP Rare Crafting Material Tokens to help differentiate them from the new VIP Uncommon Crafting Material Tokens.

  • As a result of the changes, objects created and left unattended fully out of sight in some wilderness regions now expire after approximately 2 minutes, such as Bigby's Guiding Hands, Dimension Door entrances, or Hirelings left guarding an area by themselves. In the case of Hirelings, the Hireling will disappear from the party but can be re-summoned if you still have their contract available.

Update 75.4 Release Notes

Update 75.4 Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 75.4, released on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025.

  • A bug has been corrected that could allow more hirelings to be summoned than intended.

  • This update includes preparation for this year's Night Revels event, which begins on Wednesday, October 1st and runs through Tuesday, November 3rd. Update 75.3 Release Notes

Update 75.3 Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 75.3, released on Thursday, September 11th, 2025.

News and Notes:
  • Extensive work has been done to clean up incorrectly flagged decorative objects which were being tracked by the server and causing our garbage collection processes to back up when under heavy load conditions. These objects are mostly things like bones, flowers, bushes, and grass. Other then improving server performance these adjustments should have no impact on game play.

  • Certain rock formations and walkable trees have had their physics simplified. These objects were found to be excessively complex and were taxing the server. More of these affected objects were found in the Myth Drannor and Isle of Dread landscapes.

  • Fixed some windows that were floating up in the air of the Lamordia landscape.

  • Quest XP in Heroic difficulty quests in The Chill of Ravenloft has been increased, and several quests which were incorrectly set up as "Medium" are now correctly flagged as "Long", which also boosts their XP and Favor on all difficulties.

  • A barrier issue has been corrected in the quest "A Miner Sacrifice".

  • The waypoint out of the graveyard in the Lamordia wilderness now spawns consistently.

  • Treewalker, the rare spider in The Keep on the Borderlands wilderness area, is no longer stuck inside of a wall and can be defeated.

Update 75.2 Release Notes

Update 75.2 Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 75.2, released on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025.

News and Notes:
  • This game update focuses on the first of several phases of game performance improvement work planned in the coming weeks.

  • This update addresses some of the more frequent objects that impact a cleanup process known as "entity destruction", or more commonly called "garbage collection", that games like ours use to clean up no-longer-necessary information while you play.

  • This update adjusts the system to no longer need to pay attention to these objects, thus optimizing the way the game handles decorative landscape and other environmental features.

  • This update will provide temporary improvement to the "garbage collection" system while we work on addressing this issue more widely with objects throughout the game. We expect the next phase of this work to take place in the next game update.

  • You may see some trees, bushes, or other decorative objects in a different location then expected as a result of this change.

**News and Notes:

**

Transfers:
  • Your Reincarnation Cache will now be included in packing when using the /transfer pack command rather than needing to be emptied before packing. It is no longer necessary to remove items from your Reincarnation Cache prior to transfer.

  • Adjustments have been made to allow characters with a larger data footprint to make it through the Transfer Wizard.

Classes:
  • The following character paths now work correctly for players who select Wood Elf: Stalwart Defender (Fighter), The Mighty Protector (Paladin), Elementalist (Wizard), and Dark Blade (Rogue).
Game Performance:
  • Fixed an issue that caused some quest givers to lock up and become unusable.

  • Applied a fix to non-tower guild airship access points so that they also will not lock up over time.

  • Fixed a crashing issue with crafting devices.

Feats:
  • NOTE: Dhampir Dark Bargainers who took an incomplete Enhanced Dark Gift feat during level-up prior to Update 75 have had those feats removed. A Feat Respec Token has been provided in place of those feats for impacted characters.

  • Players can find a Shrine to the Mists in the Lamordia Landscape. This shrine allows **any **player the possibility of acquiring a Dark Gift temporary feat, or for legendary players, the ability to upgrade their Dark Gift. The rules of the bargain:

  • To gain a dark gift you must provide an offering to the shrine. The item called "Offerings to the Dark Powers" appears in the Saga Reward table in both Heroic and Legendary difficulty.

  • You can only have one Shrine Dark Gift at a time.

  • The Shrine's Dark Gifts are considered a temporary Feat and do not interact with Fred.

  • You are free to swap to another Gift at any time but it requires another offering. You will lose any upgrade to that feat you may have acquired.

  • You may reject your Gift (remove it) at any time at the shrine. The Dark Powers will not be happy with you.

  • Once a player is level 30+ they may upgrade their Gift with a "Great Offering to the Dark Powers" found in the Legendary Saga Reward table.

  • Dark Bargainers may use the shrine to take an additional Gift, but they may only upgrade the Gift granted by the Shrine, not the one they take in character creation.

  • True incarnation will remove the Gift, and a new offering will be needed to restore it.

  • Legendary Dark Gift Upgrades:

  • Living Shadow: Shadow Weakness becomes Shadow Defense. While the ability still reduces damage by 15%, it also now increases Dodge by 15%.

  • Mist Walker: The duration of the Mist Walker buff now lasts for six seconds after you use the ability, assuming the Mists are not hungry.

  • Minion of The Eldritch: If the Dark Powers scorn you, it now only lasts for 12 seconds instead of 30.

  • Touch of Death: Gain the benefit of Deathblock.

  • Webtouched Wretch: You gain Immunity to certain Web effects. This does not include your webs, but the duration of those are reduced to four seconds, from six.

  • Echoing Souls: The duration of your suffering when your Echoes begin to shout is reduced from six seconds to three seconds.

  • Form of Pain: Gain a passive addition 10 Physical Resistance Rating and Magical Resistance Rating.

Items:
  • The Chill of Ravenloft Bundle Item Vendor Olkresh in the Eberron Hall of Heroes now offers those who have purchased the Ultimate Edition of the expansion to claim their Frozen Bottle of Mist. This item allows for teleportation to House Jorasco before starting The Chill of Ravenloft, and teleportation to the public area of The Chill of Ravenloft once discovered.

  • Items in The Chill of Ravenloft use the Viktranium Experiment Crafting System. While playing in Lamordia, you will find named Items with Lamordia Augment Slots. Additionally you will find Bleak Parts, which can be used to make Lamordia Augments, as well as Calamitous Weapon Bases.

  • In the Ludendorf Town Hall you will find crafting devices where you can use your Bleak Parts to make Augments that slot into your items!

  • The system is similar to Dinosaur Bone Crafting in Isle of Dread, if you are familiar with that crafting system. We will provide comparisons below to help with understanding the system.

  • The Viktranium Experiment Crafting System exists in both the Legendary AND Heroic difficulty versions of The Chill of Ravenloft.

  • Ingredients have a 100% chance to drop in every chest in The Chill of Ravenloft content (not including Champion chests.) Ingredient types are:

  • Bleak Conductors (These are analogous to Fossilized Ankylosaur Ribs)

  • Bleak Insulators (These are analogous to Fossilized Pteranodon Vertebrae)

  • Bleak Alternators (These are analogous to Fossilized Raptor Claws)

  • Bleak Resistors (These are analogous to Fossilized Triceratops Horns)

  • In the Wilderness, you can find Bleak Wires. (These are analogous to Fossilized Tyrannosaurus Teeth).

  • Certain special encounters will also drop Bleak Transformers. (These are analogous to Black Pearls. You can also eventually expect to find them in the Raid.)

  • Lamordia Augment Slots:

  • There are four Slot Types in this crafting system:

  • Melancholic (This is analogous to Scale slots)

  • Dolorous (This is analogous to Fang slots)

  • Miserable (This is analogous to Claw slots)

  • Woeful (This is analogous to Horn slots)

  • These can come in multiple variants: Armor, Weapon, and Accessory. Unlike Dinosaur Bone Crafting, there are no Set Bonus Slots in this system. Instead, loot in The Chill of Ravenloft has Sun and Moon Augment Slots.

  • There are thirty-two new Sun and Moon Augments in this expansion, as well as new drop locations for many of the existing ones!

  • An issue has been fixed with glamered cosmetics getting stuck on the Legendary Warblade.

  • Dinosaur Bone Crafting bonuses to Light and Alignment Spell Crit now properly add their Alignment spell crit.

  • Newly created Dark Bargainer Iconic characters will now get their correct number of spell components.

Monsters:
  • Fixed an issue where Ettins were sometimes not performing their death animation correctly.
Questing and Adventure Areas:
  • An issue has been corrected in the Shadow Crypt where some Shadows were failing to properly aggro on players who were considered to be undead themselves.
Spells:
  • An issue has been corrected with some Chaosmancer spells that were incorrectly set as enchantment effects, which would cause them to bounce off of some enemy defenses.
Known Issues:
  • Due to a script creation issue, two quests do not currently have all of their proper Dungeon Master narration. So for the moment, the quests "A Miner Sacrifice" and "Cold Snap" feature our very own Community Manager Cordovan providing some temporary narration.

  • Feat: Vampiric Bite

Dark Gifts Feats:
  • The Dhampir Dark Bargainer gets a Racial Feat Slot to take a Dark Bargain feat for free. In fact, they MUST take one!

  • Dark Gift Feats are all ML1.

  • A character may only have one Dark Gift feat.

  • Fred will function with Dark Gifts and you can swap out a Dark Gift for another Dark Gift.

  • Dark Gift Feats represent a bargain you've made with the Dark Powers and are intentionally stronger or more flexible than many standard feats. However, being a pact with the Dark Powers, each of them comes with a relatively unavoidable and significant cost:

  • Echoing Soul

  • Your soul is fractured, shifted, or connected to another in some way. Perhaps your past or future is affecting your present soul, or perhaps some other entity is inextricably linked with you. In any case, it manifests in knowledge and fears that aren't your own.

  • +3 to all Skills plus an additional 1 for every 2 Character Levels you have.

  • +1 to all Saving Throws, plus an additional 1 for every 3 Character Levels you have.

  • When you get hit with Melee or Ranged attacks, there is a _very _small chance your Echoing Soul will cause you to become Afraid, Blinded, or Immobilized for six seconds with no save. Immunities to these conditions do not apply to this effect. Your echoes will grow louder before this happens giving you some warning.

  • Living Shadow

  • Your Shadow extends your reach, acting out your dark impulses.

  • Your basic Melee attacks have extended range, hitting further in front of you.

  • Whenever you land a Critical Hit, there is a small chance your shadow exerts its will, causing your damage to be reduced by 15% for 6 seconds. This can only occur once every 30 seconds.

  • This is the same extension effect that Shadowdancer grants, and does not stack with that skill.

  • Mist Walker

  • You have learned how to navigate the Mists with time and a little luck.

  • You gain Misty Step: As Abundant Step, but you disappear. +5 Reflex Save and 20% stacking incorporeality while Stepping. (Shares a cooldown with other abundant steps). 15 second cooldown.

  • When you use this Misty Step, there is a chance the Mists catch up with you and you gain Exhaustion for 6 seconds (-50% penalty to movement speed, -6 penalty to Strength and Dexterity, and cannot tumble). This exhaustion cannot be warded or removed by effects that remove Exhaustion.

  • Touch of Death

  • Your every touch is pain, but you can use that to deliver death to enemies.

  • +3 Negative Spell Power per Character Level

  • +3 Negative Healing Amplification per Character Level

  • -5 Positive Spell Power per Character Level

  • -5 Positive Healing Amplification per Character Level

  • Form of Pain

  • Your body is cursed to be prone to all manner of damage, but with the ability to withstand it.

  • Passively grants +5 PRR/MRR

  • When you take damage your body changes and you gain the Form of Pain effect which grants +2 Physical Resistance Rating/Magical Resistance Rating but also reduces movement speed and increases spell costs by 1% as the pain distracts you. This can stack 10 times, with one stack being removed every 5 seconds.

  • Webtouched Wretch

  • You've become entwined with a great cosmic web, which occasionally becomes coterminous with reality.

  • Your offensive spells, melee and ranged attacks attacks occasionally cause strange spectral webs coat your enemies either slowing them or entangling them for up to six seconds with no save.

  • This does not work on bosses, raid bosses, or oozes but will work on incorporal or fiery creatures which are normally immune to web, including monsters or Champi

Update 73.4 Release Notes

Update 73.4 Release Notes

Here are the release notes for Update 73.4, released on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025.

News and Notes:
Ranged Meta Balance:
  • Attack Speed Modifiers will no longer function for Inquisitive crossbow styles when No Holds Barred and Endless Fusillade are active.

  • We estimate a typical Legendary character displaying a 50% attack speed modifier in the stats+ page after this pass going from a bolt firing every 0.25 seconds to a bolt firing every 0.3 seconds, which will match how these skills operate for other crossbow styles like Repeating Crossbows. The end result is about a 20% adjustment in attack speed. Heroic characters with less attack speed modifiers will feel the impact of this change less. A fire rate of 0.3 seconds for a projectile is probably going to be a bit of a "floor" for us, since the engine starts to reach limits when attack speed gets much faster.

  • Your fire rate outside of when No Holds Barred or Endless Fusillade are active should be unaffected.

  • Precise Shot now grants all bows (long and short) a 50% stat mod adjustment, much like two handed weapons.

  • Bows will hit harder per projectile and be a little like the 2 handers of the ranged meta.

  • This is a passive function and does not care what toggles you have on.

General changes:
  • Various monster and henchmen AI adjustments have been made to address expensive behaviors:

  • Monsters when Feared will now only go up to 15 meters away from the player, and will in general behave in a much more "panicking in place" fashion.

  • Monsters who would flee when perched also panic in place more instead of trying to find a location far away.

  • This fix really applies to what happens when a fear spell or character ability is used; quest makers typically make such monsters flee in more controlled ways.

  • We've fixed or improved several things with the hirelings Teal, Darling, and Rana.

  • This aims to correct "expensive" behaviors during situations when they could not reach their owner.

  • This applies to situations like swimming, ledge jumping, teleporting, or struggling to path.

  • Cosmetic toggle feats now have their own feat category called Cosmetics.

  • All Hardcore season cosmetic reward toggles granted by Mortality now bestow a permanent feat on the player that persists through Reincarnation. Players who currently have temporary feats can speak to Mortality to upgrade to the new permanent version. This also affects Year of the Dragon Cosmetics and VIP cosmetic rewards. It does not include the reaper wings/eyes because those use a different delivery/purchase method.

  • The VIP Cloud Mount now appears correctly in the focus orb.

  • Players can now speak to Violet Peregrine in the Eberron Hall of Heroes to acquire the Storm Cloud mount on any game world.

  • THE OTHER IMPOSSIBLE CASE IS NOW LESS POSSIBLE.

  • The Precise Shot feat now also passively increases the ability score modifier to damage of Longbows and Shortbows by 50%.

  • Arcanist Kiton will now only speak to one adventurer at a time in the quest "Covered Culvert".

  • An issue has been corrected in the quest "Sleeping with the Fishes" that could cause the quest to be unable to be completed during the final boss fight.

  • Interacting with a Relay Mirror while holding your Block button now rotates the mirror in the opposite direction.

Sleeping with the Fishes will be level 3 on Heroic difficulty and level 35 on Legendary difficulty.

News and Notes:
General changes
  • Adjustments have been made to the way enemies attempt to track characters under certain invisibility and stealth conditions, including when an enemy is in a Blind state. These changes address a long term performance issue that was increasing over time that could cause significant "brain dead" behaviors and other enemy pathing problems. Enemies will now chase an echo of your location when Blind or when you are Invisible or decently "stealthing away". Blind enemies will continue to have their standard 50% miss chance. Ranged attackers will try to get closer to you, and turreted enemies will fire at your echo to reduce their effectiveness. NOTE: None of these changes impact the Stealth experience for characters who were never seen in the first place. These changes only impact enemies who already hate you but cannot see you very well for a variety of reasons. Additional adjustments can be expected over time."

  • Fixed the generator scaling in a number of dungeons that weren't spawning enough monsters on elite/reaper

  • Den of Vipers - Several balance and bug changes have been made as follows:

  • Hydra physical bite damage greatly reduced

  • Hydra armor class on elite modestly reduced

  • Impact splash crushing damage from turning drastically reduced

  • Death Watch Skulls do less damage and tick less fast. The Hydra now greatly prefers to spawn its Watchers on targets who are not in melee range

  • Hydra acid stacking dot and general spell attack damage also reduced

  • Hydra now has true sight as is standard on raid bosses.

  • One of the hydras attacks that wasn't hitting quite at the range it was before now has been fixed.

  • Hydra inflict mist to the raid more if you kite me to much behavior is modestly less frequent.

  • Spirit Naga that appears in one of the transition rooms on reaper is no longer a mini boss and has had it's stats reduced.

  • Inquisitive:

  • Improved Uncanny Dodge now properly grants the passive dodge bonuses at level 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, and 20 as claimed.

  • The enhancement "Hit the Streets" now properly gives +5 Doubleshot.

  • Jaded, Optimistic, and Vigilante now grant +5 Ranged Power (was 10).

  • Undaunted now grants +5 Ranged Power (was 10).

  • The Patience feat now also reduces Crossbow Reload Speed by 10%.

  • Fixed an issue where Evards Black Tentacles could interact badly with Double Rainbow or Colors of the Queen. As a consequence, the list of effects that Double Rainbow and Colors of the Queen can produce has been adjusted in the process. Several have been removed that either did not work or had negative effects on the player/their allies (like friendly fire), and new ones have been added that do not have this issue. Double Rainbow has also had several effects removed from it's random matrix including an effect that could break the melee damage array of many monsters (including bosses), and effects that could spawn incidental woodland animals that would follow the target around and linger past it's death.

  • Warlock Tainted Scholar's Blood Component no longer lists +10% speed with Eldritch Blast (as that doesn't work or exist), and instead now grants +1d8 Eldritch Blast Damage.

  • Eldritch Blast (Focused), the basic Eldritch Blast shape, has had its scaling increased to 150%. (Other blast shapes remain at their current value).

  • Solar Gems of Spell Critical Damage now properly grant their listed +(5/10/15)% Legendary Bonus to Spell Critical Damage, and now stack correctly with other Legendary Bonuses to SpelL Critical Damage.

  • Items that recently lost their Minimum Level have regained it.

  • Shiradi's Champion - Change to Inexorable Advance - Damage on cold and light procs increased from 3d100+180 to 10d100+180. 100% double rainbow procs have been removed due to it causing server/client hitchs when used on conjuction with various rapid fire abilities.

  • Fix issues where if a player teleported to their soul stone in certain parts of the rat dungeons while dead their client would get stuck and hang.

  • Monks still gain their Stances and your choice of Light vs. Dark Path. However, the Light vs. Dark Path choice no longer gives something specific on being taken, but opens up enhancement choices at Tier 3 in each Monk Enhancement Tree.

  • Quivering Palm's DC now uses Strength if it is highest (highest of Strength, Dexterity, or Wisdom Modifier)

  • Stunning Fist's DC now uses the highest of Strength, Dexterity, or Wisdom.

  • The Unarmed Strike Feat now grants +5 Melee Power while Centered and using Handwraps for each copy of the feat you have.

  • The Sun and Stars item effect now reads "When you activate Hand of Healing or Hand of Harm from the Shintao enhancement tree, you benefit from increased Melee Power and Positive Healing Amplification for a short time."

  • Core 4 of Grandmaster of Flowers is now:

  • Disciple of Philosophy: Multiselector:

  • Disciple of Philosophy: Light: +3% Dodge Bypass, +10 Magical Resistance Rating Cap. You gain special versions of the Stunning Blow and Stunning Fist feats, which deal 1d10 Light damage on hit that scales with 200% Melee Power. (Note: these appear as separate feats in your feat list.) You may take Monk enhancements that require Fists of Light.

  • Disciple of Philosophy: Dark: +3% Dodge Bypass, +10 Magical Resistance Rating Cap. You gain special versions of the Stunning Blow and Stunning Fist feats, which deal 1d10 Poison damage on hit that scales with 200% Melee Power. (Note: these appear as separate feats in your feat list.) You may take Monk enhancements that require Fists of Darkness.

  • Action Point costs across Ninja Spy, Shintao, and Henshin Mystic have been reduced, primarily in Tier 5 of each tree.

  • Cores:

  • Poisoned Darts now reads "Ki Activate: You spit poisoned darts in a cone before you. Nearby enemies are affected by between 4 and 8 stacks of Ninja Poison. (Magical Poison: Target takes 1d4 points of Poison damage, which scales with the higher of Melee and Ranged Power every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The target’s vulnerability to poison is increased by 5%. This ability can stack up to 20 times. On timer expiration, 4 stacks of Ninja Poison are removed at a time.) (Activation Cost: 15 Ki. Cooldown: 12 seconds)"

  • Diversion no longer has its Critical bonus (moved to Tier 5). Instead, it has +5 Melee and Ranged Power.

  • Ninja Master now also has "+10% Fortification Bypass, +15 Melee and Ranged Power. If you have Self Defense, you gain an additional +10 Melee Power".
