About the Hades II Original Soundtrack

The completion of Hades II also marks the completion of the Hades II Original Soundtrack by our award-winning composer Darren Korb. Much like the game itself, this is our biggest-ever soundtrack, clocking in at just under four hours of music created for this game.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2950840/Hades_II_Original_Soundtrack/ If you've been enjoying the soundtrack already, know that we've saved some of the best for last! The soundtrack is available here on Steam or free streaming on our YouTube channel or other services.

About the Game

Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you'll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. Our studio's first-ever sequel builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you'll explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the forces of the Titan of Time with the full might of Olympus behind you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through your every setback and accomplishment. New locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again. For more information, check the Hades II FAQ on our website.

What's Next?

We've given v1.0 of Hades II everything we've got! As with any of our Major Updates, we'll be keeping a close eye on this launch to ensure it's as problem-free as possible, and deploy hotfixes or patches in case of any issues. Beyond that, it's too early to say what's next for our team! We'll likely take some time to reflect and recharge.

Thank You for Playing!!

While Hades II spent more than four-and-a-half years in development, including about a year and a half in Early Access, it's also the culmination of all the experience we've gained together as a team since Supergiant Games started back in 2009. Early Access development was foundational to the entire idea of the original Hades, and proved instrumental to this latest game as well. So, from all of us, thank you for inspiring us to do our best, and we hope you enjoy your time with Hades II. May moonlight guide you!

Development Progress

After more than a year of Early Access development, we're now starting to prepare for our v1.0 launch! We're heading into the final phase of Hades II development, which involves adding the story's true ending and other finishing touches. Please note we do not yet have a v1.0 launch date, though we'll share more as soon as we can. We really appreciate your patience on this!

In terms of what we're working on, after any follow-up patches to The Unseen Update that smooth out any issues, we'll focus on these major initiatives:

  • **The True Ending: **The conclusion of Princess Melinoë's story is the main addition we're planning for our v1.0 launch. We have no plans for additional regions, encounters, abilities, and so on.

  • Achievements: With the game structure fully intact, we'll be adding Achievements in the lead-up to launch. Note you will not need to start from the beginning to earn any Achievements.

  • Finishing Touches: We're continuing to polish and refine all the content we've introduced in Hades II, from Boons and powers to artwork and story events.

Sometimes the last stretch of development on a game can make all the difference, so we have always taken this phase seriously and appreciate your continued support.

Onward to v1.0!

As we wind down our Early Access phase, our goal remains ensuring we've created our biggest, most replayable, most feature-rich game yet, and — most importantly — a worthy successor to the original Hades.

We have a big game to wrap up! While we can't yet say when our v1.0 launch will be, we're very excited to be getting close, and to share the complete experience with you. This also means some of the most important work on Hades II is still to come, so may moonlight guide us! And to all our Early Access players, thank you for being here, and sharing your impressions of **The Unseen Update **with us.

The Unseen Update Patch Notes

Our third Major Update in Early Access is now available, featuring an all-new Hidden Aspect for each of the Nocturnal Arms, a unique new variation of each Guardian Encounter, and plenty of new story events, artwork, music, and more! Development Progress

We're excited to have launched this Major Update, since it includes numerous ideas we've been eager to implement since we started working on Hades II years ago! But we're not finished yet, and have already made plans for our third Major Update, which we intend to deliver some months from now. Note it's still too early to share our plans beyond that, including when our v1.0 launch will be.

After any follow-up patches to The Warsong Update that address issues or feedback we think we can resolve in the short term, we'll focus on these major initiatives:

  • Hidden Aspects: The Nocturnal Arms still have some secrets left to be discovered, and new ways for you to play. We plan for you to be able to wield some of these next time.

  • Enhanced Guardians: The boss battles at the end of each Region are an integral part of the experience, and we want them to be able to challenge and surprise you even more.

  • Expanded Story: As we prepare for our eventual v1.0 launch, we're planning ahead for the rest of the story, while building on various character relationships and subplots.

We appreciate your continued patience and support as we forge ahead!

Beyond the Final Confrontation!

Early Access continues to be an essential part of Hades II development, and we hope you can feel this reflected in our Major Updates and other patches so far. With the core structure of both the Underworld and Surface routes now fully intact, we're excited to turn our attention to filling out more of the game's content categories, finishing more and more of what we started... until we're done!

In the meantime, thank you very much for playing Hades II! You're helping us get closer to achieving our goal of making our first-ever sequel our biggest, most replayable game yet, and a worthy successor to the original Hades that's filled with its own surprises and special touches. For now, we'll be looking forward to your impressions of The Warsong Update, and hearing of your adventures above the surface and below!

Happy Holidays from Supergiant!

From all of us at Supergiant Games, we wish you a happy holiday season and all the best in the coming year! Thank you for all your support of our team, and our latest work on Hades II.

The year gone by has been very exciting for our team. In May, we launched our first-ever sequel in Early Access here on Steam, an event that proved even bigger than the v1.0 launch of the original game! Since then, we've patched Hades II half a dozen times, including the first of our Major Updates, which brought the game a big step closer to completion.

More recently, Hades II earned two nominations in the Steam Awards, in the categories of Best Game on Steam Deck and Outstanding Visual Style! It would really mean a lot to us to have your vote(s).

Our Fifteenth Anniversary!

Back in September, our studio turned 15 years old! From (https://store.steampowered.com/app/107100/Bastion/), to (https://store.steampowered.com/app/237930/Transistor/), to (https://store.steampowered.com/app/462770/Pyre/), to the original (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1145360/Hades/), and now to Hades II, all our games have found an audience here on Steam, and not a day goes by that we're not grateful for it. We even hear from some of you who've been with us from the very start.

In some respects, not too much has changed in all that time... our team remains independent, and all seven of the people who created our first game are still working together in their respective roles, though our team now has close to 25 members in total. We remain staunchly committed to making games that spark your imagination like the games you played as a kid. If you've been playing on Steam for a while, then you know good interesting games never go out of style; we want to keep trying to make them for as long as we can.

Our Next Major Update

We're now closing in on the launch of our second Major Update for Hades II, slated for early 2025. At that point you'll get to experience the final confrontation of the game's alternate route! Beyond that, we're planning for at least one more Major Update in Early Access sometime this coming year, which will expand on various parts of the game including the story. But the story's true ending will only arrive with the v1.0 launch, which we still don't have a date for yet... it'll depend on how our Major Updates go!

Happy New Year!

With all this on our minds, we're filled with gratitude and excitement as we head into the new year, and we hope you'll join us in the next one. Until then, may moonlight guide you out there!

'There is no way of deceiving or evading the mind of Zeus, since not even Iapetos' son, sly Prometheus, escaped the weight of his wrath, and for all his cleverness a strong fetter holds him in check.'

How to Get the Update

The Olympic Update is a free, automatic download as part of the Early Access development of Hades II. If you've come directly to this post, check out the game here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1145350/Hades_II/

You may need to restart your Steam client to initiate the download. If you run into any technical issues with the update or the game in general, please check our Technical Support FAQ for solutions.

The complete Patch Notes are available here on Steam, in the game client, in the form of a dramatic reading (see below), and in our official Discord, where you can join a welcoming community of Hades II players and Supergiant fans.

Development Progress

Our first Major Update introduces a third Region and Guardian to the Surface Route, bringing it closer to the Underworld route's level of completion. We've also added the game's sixth and final main weapon, and iterated on a number of key systems. But there's plenty more to come, and we can safely say that our next Major Update in Early Access will not be our last!

Once we're sure The Olympic Update has stabilized and we've addressed major feedback as much as possible, we'll then focus on these major initiatives:

  • Climactic Confrontation: What awaits further beyond the newly-added Region? Once we add that, we will consider the main structure of the Surface Route to be complete.

  • New Boons: Boons are integral to the experience of Hades II, so we have some more additions planned on this front. Surely the Olympians deserve no less!

  • New Foes: We plan to add even more combat encounter variety. Having lots of exciting and varied encounters helps keep Hades II feeling fresh for as long as you play it.

We are planning our next Major Update to launch sometime in early 2025, in a little less development time overall than The Olympic Update. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we press on!

Onward and Upward!

Early Access has already been an invaluable and eye-opening experience for our team as we continue working to complete this game. As we move forward, we intend to keep making additions, changes, and improvements in an effort to create the biggest, most replayable, most feature-rich game we've made yet, and — most importantly — a worthy successor to the original Hades.

We're very grateful that you've taken the time to play Hades II thus far, and hope you find it's getting closer to fulfilling its potential with the launch of The Olympic Update. Your feedback is always welcome, and thank you for playing.

The Olympic Update Patch Notes

Our first Major Update is finally here, featuring an all-new Region to explore, a new weapon to master, more characters to meet, new decorations for the Crossroads, new Animal Familiars to bond with, new music and artwork, and much more! We hope you enjoy discovering it all. In the coming weeks, we will be looking closely at player feedback to ensure our latest changes are solid. Until then!

Early Access Update & First Patch Plan

Thanks so much to everyone who's taken the time to play Hades II in Early Access so far! We've been delving into all your impressions and feedback, and we're very excited to move forward in this new phase of development. In this post, we wanted to share our short-term plans.

We're Focused on a Smooth Play Experience

Following our launch, we've deployed several small hotfixes that alleviated rare crashes and progression bugs. We typically don't provide patch notes for small technical hotfixes such as this, though they help us make sure we're building on a solid foundation. We are continuing to watch for error reports closely.

We're Gathering Feedback and Data

Impressions posted here on Steam, our official Discord, and beyond are letting us gauge how everyone's feeling about the game and how that aligns with our goals. With the help of our translators, we're getting feedback from players all over the world! We're also collecting anonymous gameplay data voluntarily submitted by players, which helps us identify opportunities to improve the balance of Boons, weapons, foes, and so on. This is an ongoing process that's just getting started.

Our First Patch is In the Works!

Our first patch should be coming later this month, though note we don't have a more-specific timeline. With it, we're looking for improvements we can make in the near term, in a way that makes Hades II better for everyone and come closer to realizing our goals. For example:

  • Resource Gathering: We want _Hades II_ players to focus on goals that are important to them, though don't want resource gathering to feel too frustrating, such as if you didn't bring the right gathering tool along for the ride.

  • **Getting Around: **It's important to us that Melinoë have her own distinct style, and for players to be able to navigate her battles and other interactions in a nimble, responsive, expressive way. We have ideas for how to improve her Dash and Sprint.

Our first patch will likely have a few other enhancements and fixes, and we'll have comprehensive patch notes when the time comes. So stay tuned!

We're Considering Our First Balance Changes

If you were with us for the Early Access development of the original game, you know we love making balance changes! We're always looking for opportunities to make the content and choices in the game as interesting as we can. However, we're still gathering feedback and data that helps inform the kind of changes we like to make, so don't expect too many such changes just yet.

Thank You For Your Support!

We will likely have at least one more patch after our first, to make additional improvements and fixes in the short term. From there, we will focus on the development of our first Major Update planned for some months from now, which will contain various new features and content.

Early Access has already been incredibly instructive to us about ways in which we might make Hades II the best it can be. We really appreciate you playing and taking the time to share your impressions with us! Death to Chronos!

HADES II Early Access is Here!!

After more than three years in development, our first-ever sequel is now available in Early Access!! Watch our new gameplay showcase to see it in action. Note this contains some spoilers!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1145350/Hades_II/

We hope you enjoy discovering all that Hades II in Early Access has to offer! It already includes more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters than the full version of the original game, and we have more in the works. An in-game development roadmap provides additional details about our update plans.

Note for owners of Steam Deck, we're pleased to report Hades II is Deck Verified!

About Hades II

Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you'll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. It builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you'll explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the Titan's forces with the full might of Olympus behind you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through your every setback and accomplishment. New locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again. For more information, check our Hades II FAQ.

About Early Access

This Early Access launch is an extraordinarily exciting moment for our team as we begin the process that we expect will help us realize this game's potential. As with the original, we designed Hades II for Early Access from the ground up, and look forward to hearing your feedback about all that we've built so far, and integrating that feedback into our plans for the rest of production! This is a game with many interconnected parts, and your feedback helps us ensure everything from the balance to the narrative are working as well as possible.

Should you play in Early Access, or wait for the full game? For many players, it's a good idea to wait for the complete v1.0 before diving in, as Hades II will grow and improve during Early Access, and the true ending of the story won't be available until then. But, if you like the idea of seeing the game evolve over time, and watching the story unfold more gradually, then Early Access is probably for you!

The Hades II Original Soundtrack

Music has always been essential to the experience of each title from Supergiant Games, and Hades II is no exception, with an original soundtrack by our award-winning composer Darren Korb crafted to fit the bewitching theme and variety of all-new characters and environments.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2950840/Hades_II_Original_Soundtrack/

Now available alongside the game, the soundtrack is already nearly as expansive as the original, with close to two-and-a-half hours of new music... and still more tracks to be added as development continues. Note: We recommend first experiencing our soundtracks in-game!

What's Next

We're planning our first Major Update for later this year! Please note while we'll be monitoring feedback and reports carefully, this Major Update will take some months following our initial launch. Beyond that, we expect to be in Early Access at least through the end of 2024 in order to build out the remaining content we have planned.

As we take stock of the state of the game and what you think of it, we'll gain a clearer sense of just how close we are to the finish line. For now, it's too early to say when our v1.0 launch will be. Yet even though Hades II won't be complete for some time, we hope you really enjoy it as soon as you start playing.

Lastly: Thank you. This year our studio turns 15 years old, and for all this time we've remained small and independent, working on one major new project after another. None of this would have been possible without the support of our players over the years. So, whether Hades II is your first Supergiant game, or you've been with us since the Bastion days, we're grateful you could join us.
