Plus, get ready to take on the Maggot King Combat Achievements…_ --- ##### Changelog - July 22nd [expand type=details expanded=false] ##### Summer Sweep Up - Gear & PvM Changes **Gauntlet Prep Improvements** - There's now a guaranteed random demi-boss spawn at the north/east/south/west-most rooms from the centre. Meaning four demi-bosses with fixed locations, but the specific demi-bosses that you encounter will still be random. - Demi-bosses have had their attack range reduced from 16 to 10. - Non-demi-boss enemies now have standardised defensive stats, meaning it's never better to kill a wolf over a scorpion, for example. - Weapon frames are guaranteed from your first 'low tier' NPC kill. - Phren Bark, Crystal Ore and Linum Tirinum are now stackable. - Crystal Shards are now automatically placed in your inventory. Additionally, the quantity dropped by enemies has a smaller range, so will feel much more consistent. - Crystal Shard costs for crafting various pieces of equipment have been adjusted: - Creating a Tier 1 weapon requires no Crystal Shards, down from 20. You'll still need a weapon frame. - Creating a Tier 2 weapon requires 50 Crystal Shards, down from 60. - Creating a piece of Tier 1 armour requires 50 Crystal Shards, up from 40. - Creating a piece of Tier 2 Body armour requires 100 Crystal Shards, up from 80. Creating a piece of Tier 2 Leg or Helmet armour requires 50 Crystal shards, down from 80. - Creating a piece of Tier 3 armour requires 100 Crystal Shards, up from 80. The reason for this increase is that we don't want Tier 3 to become a guarantee/must-have for every run and should still be trading comfort for time-loss, encouraging people to push themselves down to Tier 1 prep for the fastest clears. - Gauntlet Speed-chaser now requires a completion in under 4:45, down from 5:00. - Gauntlet Speed-runner now requires a completion in under 3:45, down from 4:00. - Corrupted Gauntlet Speed-chaser now requires a completion in under 7:05, down from 7:30. - Corrupted Gauntlet Speed-runner now requires a completion in under 6:05, down from 6:30. **Other PvM or PvM-adjacent Changes** - Phantom Muspah tweaks: - Will no longer swap forms until you've dealt damage at least 4 times. - Homing Spikes special attack duration reduced to 34 ticks, down from 50 ticks. Additionally, the attack ends early if Muspah is phased into its 'blue shield' form. - Demonic Gorillas will no longer swap prayers until you've dealt damage at least 4 times, and dealt at least 70 damage with a style. - Skotizo tweaks: - Once a totem has been destroyed, it won't respawn for another minute. - The arena has been reduced in size, you'll have to get your steps in elsewhere. - Ice Demon's demonbane vulnerability has been increased to 115%, up from 100%. - Wardens in the Tombs of Amascut are no longer immune to the life leeching effects of the Sanguinesti Staff or Amulet of Blood Fury. You might notice some _weirdness _during P2 because damage calculations here are non-standard, but these should be working as intended. - Autocast settings are now preserved through death. - Looting a gravestone should now automatically sort your inventory to match its layout prior to your untimely death. **Gear Changes** - Sanguinesti Staff Tweaks - Chance to heal increased to 1 in 5 (up from 1 in 6), deals 8 additional damage whenever the heal procs - this averages out to +1.6 damage per hit. - Base max hit increased by +1. - Charge cost reduced to 2 Blood runes per cast, down from 3. You should be refunded one Blood rune per charge upon logging in after the update. If your inventory is full then they'll go to your bank. If your bank is also full (or you're a UIM with a full inventory) then they'll drop on the ground. - Soulreaper Axe Changes - Gains +4 Strength bonus. - Stack limit remains at 5, with 6% damage bonus gained per stack. - Stacks take 50 ticks to start decrementing, up from 20 _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/706652383055184046]_ ### The Blood Moon Rises & Bank Tags Tweaks | July 15th - Date: 2026-07-15 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697644549761138777 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/old-school-runescape/releases/steam-697644549761138777 - **changed** — Reduced Maggot King death fees for the next five deaths for all players - **changed** — Inventory overflow drops at the Maggot King and Araxxor now remain on the ground for 3 hours before despawning - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Maggot King loot could occasionally appear far above its intended location when inventory was full - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Brimstone Keys looted from the Maggot King could drop in inaccessible areas and now drop within the player arena - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Ur-Maggots could occasionally survive Venator Bow bounce attacks - **added** — Added a Maggot King option to the Rune Pouch loadouts - **changed** — Raised the High Alchemy value of tarnished items so tarnished weapons alch for slightly less than Rune weapon equivalents and tarnished jewellery alchs for the same value as Diamond equivalents - **changed** — Made polishing Tarnished items instantaneous but limited to 1 per game tick - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Superior Venators did not correctly drop a Venator Heart when defeated with the Sunspear's Special Attack - **changed** — Made Venator teeth tradeable - **changed** — Improved Grapevine storage and harvesting so they now stack and can be harvested directly into your bank - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Blisterwood stakes were gaining far more accuracy than intended against Venators - **added** — Added a custom map to Sangvesti to help players navigate the area and track locked doors - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where inscriptions on correctly filled basins during the Castle Drakan chapel puzzle could display the wrong description - **added** — Added a new low-intensity Bloodwood tree offering a more AFK Woodcutting experience with longer uninterrupted chopping sessions in exchange for reduced Woodcutting XP and Bloodwood sap - **changed** — Reduced Crystal shard consumption when using the Crystal axe at Bloodwood trees to 10 percent - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where claiming a full bucket of Bloodwood sap with a full inventory could cause the bucket and its contents to be lost - **changed** — Sap buckets placed by Bloodwood trees now remain between logins - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where the Horn of Plenty's double-loot effect did not work correctly when hunting Stymphikes - **added** — Added the Import/Export function for Bank Tags to copy tags across Official Client devices - **fixed** — Fixed a bug showing duplicate items when searching for a Tag icon - **changed** — Players who don't interact with the client for 5 minutes while using the Trawling Net facility will now automatically disengage from it - **changed** — Baiting a shoal is now tracked on a per-player basis instead of for the entire boat _The second batch of The Blood Moon Rises tweaks are here, along with the 'Export & Import' feature for Bank Tags..._ --- ##### Changelog - July 15th [expand type=details expanded=false] ##### The Blood Moon Rises Tweaks **Maggot King Tweaks** - The drop rates for the Maggot King and Venators are revealed. Check out its dedicated section in the blog for details. - Reduced Maggot King death fees for your next five deaths. This applies to all players, regardless of how many kills they've already completed. - Inventory overflow drops at the Maggot King and Araxxor will now remain on the ground for 3 hours before despawning. - Fixed an issue where Maggot King loot could occasionally appear far above its intended location when your inventory was full. - Fixed an issue where Brimstone Keys looted from the Maggot King could drop in inaccessible areas of the boss's lair. They now drop within the player arena, where they can be picked up normally. - Fixed an issue where Ur-Maggots could occasionally survive Venator Bow bounce attacks. - Added a Maggot King option to the Rune Pouch loadouts. - Raised the High Alchemy value of tarnished items from their previous 500 GP value. Tarnished weapons now alch for slightly less than their Rune weapon equivalents, while tarnished jewellery now alchs for the same value as their Diamond equivalents. - Made polishing Tarnished items instantaneous but limited to 1 per game tick. **Venator Tweaks** - Superior Venators will now correctly drop a Venator Heart when defeated with the Sunspear's Special Attack. - Venator teeth are now tradeable. - Improved Grapevine storage and harvesting. Grapevines now stack - you can combine a substantial number of Grapevines on a single vine. You can also harvest them directly into your bank. - Fixed an issue where Blisterwood stakes were gaining far more accuracy than intended against Venators. **Quest Tweaks** - Added a custom map to Sangvesti to help players navigate the area and track locked doors. - Fixed an issue where the inscriptions on correctly filled basins during the Castle Drakan chapel puzzle could display the wrong description. **Vampyrium & Skilling Tweaks** - Added a new low-intensity Bloodwood tree, offering a more AFK Woodcutting experience with longer uninterrupted chopping sessions in exchange for reduced Woodcutting XP and Bloodwood sap. - Reduced Crystal shard consumption when using the Crystal axe at Bloodwood trees to 10%, significantly reducing operating costs. - Fixed an issue where claiming a full bucket of Bloodwood sap with a full inventory could cause the bucket and its contents to be lost. - Sap buckets placed by Bloodwood trees now remain between logins. - The Horn of Plenty's double-loot effect now works correctly when hunting Stymphikes. - Some grammar has been corrected in the text for making a Necklace of Rupture. **Weapon Tweaks** - You can now use Seeking Headless Arrows on existing arrows to convert them directly into Seeker Arrows. - Reduced the Sunspear's protected value on death to 100,000 coins. ##### Bank Tags - We've added the Import/Export function, meaning you can copy your tags across other Official Client devices. - Fixed a bug showing duplicate items when searching for a Tag icon. - Fixed inaccuracies in some message boxes. ##### Sailing Changes Earlier this year, we made a number of quality of life improvements to Deep Sea Trawling based on your feedback. Since then, players have discovered a new way to engage in Deep Sea Trawling by remaining on another player's boat, allowing them to stay largely AFK for up to 30 minutes at a time. As a result, the amount of Marlin entering the game has been significantly increased, causing a noticeable impact on the economy. To help address this, we're making a couple of changes to Deep Sea Trawling: - Players who don't interact with the client for 5 minutes while using the Trawling Net facility will now automatically disengage from it. - Baiting a shoal is now t _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697644549761138777]_ ### The Blood Moon Rises Tweaks & Fixes | July 8th - Date: 2026-07-08 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697642648593242095 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/old-school-runescape/releases/steam-697642648593242095 - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where ammunition fired at the Maggot King could drop in an inaccessible area of the boss's lair - **changed** — Improved the visual distinction between the Maggot King's projectile attacks and floor hazards - **added** — Added Elite Clue Scrolls to the Maggot King's drop table - **changed** — Improved the Maggot King's regular drop table by replacing some lower-value rewards with more valuable alternatives - **changed** — The Maggot King now places harvested loot directly into your inventory instead of dropping it on the ground - **changed** — The Aranei Scout outside Castle Drakan can now use coins from Death's Coffer or your bank when retrieving gravestones - **changed** — Updated the Crimson kisten's standard attack animation to keep the original animation for the Stab attack style while using heavier animation for other attack styles - **fixed** — The Crimson kisten is now correctly classified as a spiked weapon and its special attack now correctly rolls against an npc's crush defence - **changed** — Increased the Ranged Defence of Vyrewatch sentinels and Venators to better balance Blisterwood stakes against other Blisterwood weapons - **changed** — The Sunspear now gains 25% increased accuracy and 50% increased damage against Vampyres - **fixed** — Fixed an issue where Seeker Arrows provided their +20 Ranged Attack bonus regardless of the weapon equipped - **changed** — Stymphikes now drop 15 Feathers instead of 5 - **fixed** — Dire Bats can no longer be lured to the Bank in Sangvesti - **changed** — Venator drops now appear in the Slayer section of the Collection Log - **changed** — Improved Venator drop tables by increasing the drop rates of Venator teeth and fangs while reducing the frequency of less valuable drops - **changed** — Increased the chance of receiving a Blood sac from cutting Leechfin by around 20% - **changed** — Leechfin now grant 33.2 Fishing XP per catch and cutting them into Blood sacs now grants 20 Cooking XP per cut - **fixed** — The Angler's outfit now correctly increases Fishing XP when catching Leechfin - **removed** — Removed the one-click Fletch option from Sap-treated Logs to remove the unintended impact on tick manipulation methods - **changed** — The alchemy value of Makeshift spears has been adjusted _This week's update brings the first round of post-launch tweaks and fixes for The Blood Moon Rises, alongside a handful of improvements to the Trouver System!_ ##### Changelog - July 8th [expand type=details expanded=false] ##### The Blood Moon Rises Tweaks & Fixes **Maggot King Changes** - Fixed an issue where ammunition fired at the Maggot King could drop in an inaccessible area of the boss's lair. It will now drop in the player arena. - Improved the visual distinction between the Maggot King's projectile attacks and floor hazards. - Added Elite Clue Scrolls to the Maggot King's drop table. - Improved the Maggot King's regular drop table by replacing some lower-value rewards with more valuable alternatives. - The Maggot King now places harvested loot directly into your inventory instead of dropping it on the ground. - The Aranei Scout outside Castle Drakan can now use coins from Death's Coffer or your bank when retrieving gravestones. **Weapon Changes** - Following on from the feedback we mentioned last week, we've updated the Crimson kisten's standard attack animation. After seeing that some players enjoyed the original animation and felt it gave the weapon more character, we've kept it in for the Stab attack style. Other attack styles now use heavier animation, while the Special Attack retains its full ground-smash effect to remain visually distinct. - The Crimson kisten is now correctly classified as a spiked weapon, and its special attack now now correctly rolls against an npcs crush defence. - Increased the Ranged Defence of Vyrewatch sentinels and Venators to better balance Blisterwood stakes against other Blisterwood weapons. - These should now be positioned as still a strong and viable option, depending on your gear, but no longer significantly better than the melee alternatives. - The Sunspear now gains 25% increased accuracy (up from 0) and 50% increased damage (up from 25%) against Vampyres. - Fixed an issue where Seeker Arrows provided their +20 Ranged Attack bonus regardless of the weapon equipped; this bonus now only applies when using bows. **Vampyrium & Skilling Changes** - Stymphikes now drop 15 Feathers instead of 5. - Dire Bats can no longer be lured to the Bank in Sangvesti. - Venator drops now appear in the Slayer section of the Collection Log. - Improved Venator drop tables, increasing the drop rates of Venator teeth and fangs while reducing the frequency of less valuable drops. - Increased the chance of receiving a Blood sac from cutting Leechfin by around 20%. - Leechfin now grant 33.2 Fishing XP per catch (up from 31.5), while cutting them into Blood sacs now grants 20 Cooking XP per cut (up from 2). - Our goal here is for highly active training methods to feel appropriately rewarding relative to other top-end skilling options. We felt Leechfin fell a little short of that, so we've given it a modest boost to better reflect the effort involved. - The Angler's outfit now correctly increases Fishing XP when catching Leechfin. - Removed the one-click Fletch option from Sap-treated Logs to remove the unintended impact on tick manipulation methods, as discussed in last week's [Known Issues & Feedback blog](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/the-blood-moon-rises---known-issues--fixes?oldschool=true). - The alchemy value of Makeshift spears has been adjusted. - The Tarnished bracelet is no longer labelled as a necklace. **Quest Fixes** - Players who completed the quest with a full inventory can now claim a free Sunspear from Efaritay. - Reduced the number of misleading trees in the Softa Forest encounter to make the section quicker to navigate. - Fixed a bug where you could not take an axe from the log stumps if you had a Zombie Axe or Battleaxe on your character or in your inventory. - Lowered the defence slightly of Venators encountered in Castle Drakan during the quest. - Maxilla Beasts can no longer be defeated using recoil damage. - Locked doors on the Castle Drakan map now display tool _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697642648593242095]_ ### Blood Moon Rises Out Now! | June 30th - Date: 2026-06-30 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697642648593237572 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/old-school-runescape/releases/steam-697642648593237572 - **added** — Launch The Blood Moon Rises Grandmaster quest, the final chapter of the Myreque saga - **added** — Add Vampyrium region accessible after completing The Blood Moon Rises quest - **added** — Add Stymphikes Hunter activity in Vampyrium - **added** — Add Bloodwood trees Woodcutting activity that provides Sap for crafting Seeker arrows - **added** — Add Leechfin Fishing activity in Vampyrium - **added** — Add Venators Slayer creature in Vampyrium - **added** — Add Maggot King solo boss encounter in Vampyrium - **added** — Add Elder venator fang reward from Maggot King used to create Necklace of Rupture ranged amulet - **added** — Add Crimson kisten reward from Maggot King as a BiS Crush Special Attack weapon - **added** — Activate World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive - **added** — Activate World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter - **changed** — Move PvP rota to Period A with updated world assignments - **changed** — Set PvP Arena to use 'Zerker' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments _The Blood Moon rises today, bringing the long-awaited finale of the Myreque saga to Old School!_ --- For the latest on all current known issues & fixes, head [here.](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/the-blood-moon-rises---known-issues--fixes?oldschool=1) --- A quick note for RuneLite users: - The Blood Moon Rises makes heavy use of visual layering and depth effects, particularly throughout Vampyrium. - For the best experience, we recommend using the standard GPU plugin. We'll be back with regular game updates on the following Wednesday, June 17th! --- _This week's update brings some handy Farming QoL and Sailing Changes. _ --- ##### Changelog - June 3rd [expand type=details expanded=false] **New Regional Game Worlds Launch Today!** - Today we're launching new game worlds across three different regions, covering Japan, Singapore and South Africa! - These worlds will launch shortly after our usual game update, and we'll let you know when they're live. - You'll find the new game worlds here: - Singapore: - F2P: 660 - Members: 661, 662, 663, 664 - South Africa: - F2P: 667 - Members: 668 - Japan: - F2P: 698 - Members: 699, 700 - We'll continue to explore the feasibility of more game worlds in new locations. **Gathering QoL Improvements** - Tool Leprechauns now have a right-click 'Deposit-all' option, allowing you to quickly dump your tools or offload buckets en masse without opening the interface. - You can now dig up healthy plants while they're growing in the farming patch by using a spade on them. - This won't apply to patches that can contain only one type of plant, such as mushrooms, Belladonna, Grapevine, Redwood, Crystal trees, Spirit trees etc. - As part of this change, planting XP has been moved to either the end of the harvest process, just as the patch is cleared, or the check-health stage. - To ensure you don't miss out on planting XP should your plant die, clearing a dead plant affected by this change will now award the planting XP you would have gotten, had the plant survived. - You can once again get "planting" XP from a Goutweed tuber - on harvest or clearing up a dead plant. - When you have an active Farming Contract, the required seed or sapling is now displayed at the top of the Seed Vault by default - Using a Seed Box on a farming patch will now automatically attempt to plant the first seed suitable for that patch. - Seeds can be reordered in the Seed Box interface by right-clicking the box and selecting 'Check'. You'll then be able to drag and drop seeds into your desired positions. - Herb patches now show which herb they contain in the right-click options. - We've added a right-click 'Clear' option for Cactus or Potato Cactus patches, allowing Cacti to be cleared even if they still have produce (Cactus Spines or Potato Cacti) on them. - We've reintroduced Sulphurous Fertiliser (made by combining Saltpetre and Compost), to be used on vine patches within the Hosidius Vinery. - When applied to a vine patch, Sulphurous Fertiliser will increase grape yield (including Zamorak's grapes) by 20%. **Sailing Changes** - Courier Tasks now award 10% more Sailing XP, making them a more rewarding training option throughout the skill, while ensuring they don't overtake Sailing Trials as the best XP method. - For players running efficient delivery routes, Courier Tasks should now offer noticeably better XP rates while remaining below top-end Trial activities such as Gwenith Glide. - Every Sailing creature can now be reliably targeted through at least one guaranteed Bounty Task location. - For example, a player can go to Deepfin Point to guarantee getting a Veiled Kraken task or go to Lunar Isle for a Vampyre Kraken task. - Bounty Tasks have been expanded to last significantly longer, reducing the need to return to port as often. - Most task requirements have been increased by around 5x, meaning you'll spend more time fighting creatures and less time returning to ports for new assignments. - Some examples include: Terns from 3 to 15, Butterfly Rays 1 to 5, Tiger Sharks 1 to 5, Albatrosses 1 to 5, Pygmy Krakens 6 to 30 and Vampyre Krakens 6 to 30. - To support these longer tasks, Bounty _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/697640745127903412]_ ### Changes to Sailing and LMS Rewards Eligibility | May 27th - Date: 2026-05-27 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/680751612361179181 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/old-school-runescape/releases/steam-680751612361179181 - **changed** — Updated the colours of Steel and Iron cannonballs to better depict their metals - **changed** — Adjusted Steel and Iron nails so their appearance better matches their metal - **changed** — Tick manipulation no longer works at Rubium rocks - **changed** — Increased the amount of guaranteed Rubium Splinters you receive based on your Mining level, capping at 2 (1 guaranteed at Level 48 Mining, 2 guaranteed at Level 72 Mining) - **changed** — Reduced the Smithing XP for Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs as per new rates - **changed** — Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs can now be made at one set every 2 ticks - **fixed** — The auto-retaliate option for cannons no longer has an additional delay - **fixed** — The armour immunity of keels now works correctly when auto-retaliate is enabled for cannons - **fixed** — The Boat 'Em Up music track now correctly unlocks and gets added to the Music Player when the player is the Captain of the boat - **changed** — Players must now win a game of Last Man Standing before they can purchase any tradeable items from Justine's Stuff for the Last Shopper Standing - **changed** — Players who haven't won any games can only purchase untradeable items from the Last Man Standing shop - **changed** — Deaths in the Wilderness without player combat in the last 30 seconds are now treated as PvM deaths instead of PvP deaths - **changed** — Updated the Leagues first board to reflect that Kalmaars was the first player to max in Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts - **changed** — Updated a message about puffer fish for players using the Medallion of the Deep _This week brings adjustments to Sailing, Last Man Standing rewards system and more…_ --- ##### Changelog - May 27th [expand type=details expanded=false] **Sailing Changes** - Updated the colours of Steel and Iron cannonballs to better depict their metals, bringing them in line with other items made from those materials. - Likewise, Steel and Iron nails have also been adjusted so their appearance better matches their metal. - Rubium Mining tweaks: - Tick manipulation no longer works at Rubium rocks. - Increased the amount of guaranteed Rubium Splinters you receive based on your Mining level, capping at 2: - Level 48 Mining: 1 guaranteed Splinter - Level 72 Mining: 2 guaranteed Splinters - Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs: - Reduced the Smithing XP as outlined in the blog (https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/rubium-mining--smithing-changes-?oldschool=1&_gl=1). (See the table for new XP rates in its dedicated section of this blog) - Reduced the production speed - the Incendiary and Chainshot cannonballs can now be made at one set every 2 ticks. - Some hotfixes we've deployed last week: - The auto-retaliate option for cannons no longer has an additional delay, bringing them in line with standard combat. - The armour immunity of keels now works correctly when auto-retaliate is enabled for cannons. - The "Boat 'Em Up" track now correctly unlocks and gets added to the Music Player when the player is the Captain of the boat. If you previously completed the quest and the track did not unlock, you can now unlock it simply by disembarking at Last Light. **Changes to the Last Man Standing Rewards Eligibility** - Now, players must first win a game of Last Man Standing before they can purchase any tradeable items from Justine's Stuff for the Last Shopper Standing. - Players who haven't won any games can only purchase the untradeable items from the shop. **Wilderness QoL Change** - Now, if a player dies without having been in combat with another player within the last 30 seconds, their death will be treated as a PvM death instead of a PvP death - even if they were attacked by another player earlier. This change is intended to prevent situations where players are attacked in the Wilderness, forget they were attacked, then continue engaging in PvM and lose their items to a PvP death unknowingly. - This applies to _all _account types, meaning if you haven't been in player combat in the last 30 seconds before dying: - The PKer can no longer receive your loot. - Your items can be reclaimed from your Gravestone or Death. - If you've been in player combat in the last 30 second before dying, standard PvP death mechanics will apply. **Other Changes** - Updated the Leagues first board to reflect that Kalmaars was the first player to max in Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts. - A message about puffer fish has been updated for players using the Medallion of the Deep. **PvP Rota** The PvP rota has moved to **Period B**: - 560 - (UK) - PvP World - 319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World - 579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World - 561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World - 580 - (US) - LMS Competitive World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been **de-activated** with this rota. In certain situations this setting could prevent players from cancelling actions (such as casting spells), leaving them stuck. This means that if you haven’t attacked a player for 20 seconds, your staff’s autocast setting will remain even after switching to another weapon and back again. - The bank chest found inside the Chambers of Xeric raid can no longer be used in Permanent Deadman. **Behind-the-Scenes Improvements to Combat Infrastructure** - We've focused on strengthening and future-proofing the combat infrastructure for upcoming major releases like _Leagues VI, The Blood Moon Rises_ and _The Fractured Archive. _This will help ensure these combat-heavy updates integrate well with the engine, and are implemented smoothly for launch. If you come across any bugs or unusual behaviours, please let us know - we'll be keeping an eye of your feedback! **Other Changes** - If you’re on a _boss-specifi_c Slayer task, you can now enter the lair of that specific Wilderness boss without meeting the diary requirements. If you caught our Game Jam VII blog (link), you already know that some music system improvements are landing with this update. OSRS grinds in Gielinor just aren’t the same without the soundtrack along for the ride, so as we roll into our 25th anniversary year, we figured now was the perfect time to freshen up the music system interface. ##### Audio Slider Picture this: a banger tune starts to play in-game, you go to turn it up- only to find out that the slider doesn't actually... slide? Plus, we've got some feedback changes and tweaks._ --- ##### Changelog - January 28th [expand type=details expanded=false] **Deadman: Annihilation drops this Friday!** - Deadman: Annihilation will drop this Friday, January the 30th, at 17:00 UTC! - Reminder: if you have a permanent Deadman character on world 345, you'll need to reset its progress at Nigel in Lumbridge Graveyard to use that same character for Deadman: Annihilation. - Here's a quick breakdown of what you can expect: - Earn Deadman Points through just about any activity you can think of: PvM, Skilling, completing Quests, completing Achievement Diaries/Combat Achievements, completing Clue scrolls... Then trade those points for exclusive (tradeable) cosmetics in the main game including the Wilderness POH Kit, a new Home teleport animation, and recolours for the Toxic Staff of the Dead, Bow of Faerdhinen and Crystal Armour! - Bank keys are no more! You'll only risk what you've got on you, but there's no use hiding expensive gear in your inventory because your risked wealth will be symbolised by coloured skulls above your character, similar to Bounty Hunter. - While killing NPCs, you might stumble across a Deadman's Chest as a rare drop. This chest takes 60 seconds (30 seconds in multi-combat) to open, so you'll need to stand your ground to claim your treasure, but stand to be handsomely rewarded with powerful items - including tweaked versions of the Dogsword and the Thunder Khopesh. - Sigils are no longer RNG drops to be bought and sold on the Grand Exchange. Instead, use the Deadman's Skull to pull up a shop UI where you can spend your hard-earned Deadman points to buy whichever Sigils you'd like. - Non-combat Sigils no longer require attuning, meaning you can unlock them with points and enjoy their benefits forever, regardless of your setup. - The Ruinous Powers are back! As a result of this initial fix, you could only store an empty Rosewood Blowpipe in that STASH unit. This week, we've deployed a coldfix so that you can store the Rosewood Blowpipe with darts loaded once again. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for bearing with us in the meantime! - Increased the capacity of the Seed Vault up to 104, giving you room to store the new seeds, saplings and corals added with Sailing. - The Humidify spell now works on the new seeds from Sailing as well, which are Camphor, Ironwood and Rosewood seeds. - The Red Reef - a planned future quest for Sailing that passed the poll - no longer shows up in the new-style Skill Guide interface. - Lost crates that are occasionally found at sea will now update the Collection Log if they give you something cloggable, such as the Dragon Sword. **Permanent Deadman Changes** In preparation for Deadman: Annihilation dropping next week, we've got some changes to Permanent Deadman (World 45), featuring: - Stockpiling charms now apply to a wider variety of activities, including: - Wintertodt - Tempoross - Guardians of the Rift - Golden nuggets from Motherlode Mine - Pizazz points - Tithe Farm - Barbarian Assault - Brimhaven Agility - Giants' Foundry - Hallowed Sepulchre - Chompy Bird hunting - The Emblem Trader now sells various Deadman: Annihilation Quest lamps that can be used to automatically complete a number of Quest storylines. - Godwars KC will no longer be reset when leaving. - Kylie Minnow's fishing platform now has an entry fee of 100,000 GP, to try and add some risk that discourages would-be botters. - Two new uniques have been added to breaches, the Trinket of Avarice and the Trinket of Fortuity. - The PJ timer has been updated to match the Deadman: Annihilation PJ timer of 24 ticks. **Update on the Legacy Java Client** - As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce illicit activity such as botting, the Legacy Java Client will be discontinued as a stand-alone option, starting _next Wednesday, January 28th_. With Old School RuneScape players spread all over the world, we'd like your input on when you’d prefer this maintenance to take place. Therefore, a Maintenance Opinion Poll is live in-game until Monday - make sure to share your thoughts on what timing works best for you before the poll closes! **Official Client Recommended Spec Update** - As technology continues to advance, we’ve recently reviewed Old School RuneScape’s recommended system requirements. Further down the blog, you’ll find the updated recommended specifications for running Old School RuneScape's Official Client on Windows, macOS and mobile. **Other Changes** - Reverted an efficiency change we've done last week, stopping several NPC scripts when no players were nearby, after it caused unintended behaviour in certain scenarios. We're still analysing the results so we won't be sharing them today, however, we'll aim to give you a broad update on what we've learned sometime during the Winter Summit, which is happening on the 25th January. For now though, we'd like to acknowledge that Ship Combat needs changes. We're aiming for this work to happen as soon as possible, ideally within this month or next. Additionally, we fixed the following bugs before the team headed off for the holidays: - Previously, some facilities had different requirements on different types of boats. We've corrected these facility requirements to be consistent across the board. For example: - Linen trawling nets now all require level 65 Sailing to build and use on any boat. - Hemp trawling nets now all require level 76 Sailing and 65 Construction to build and use on any boat. - Players now require a Sailing level to trim sails, which is the same level required as to build the sail. - Crewmates now operate facilities such as the helm, trawler net and salvaging hook only if the player has the required level for them - not based on crewmate stats. - Resolved an issue where weeds would be shown on the Anglers' Retreat island's hardwood tree patch, when the rosewood tree was growing on it. - Likewise, resolved an issue where players couldn't summon their boat after opening and exiting the "Replace" menu on the Teleport Focus. Lastly, here's a hotfix we rolled out before the break that's worth highlighting, in case you missed it: - If you receive multiple drops from sea creatures and don’t have enough inventory space, any excess items will now be dropped on the floor. **Slayer Rewards UI Update** - To easily differentiate the functional Slayer unlocks and cosmetic Slayer rewards, we’ve updated the Slayer Rewards Interface with an _additional_ tab. Now, all cosmetic Slayer rewards live in their own dedicated **Cosmetics** tab, including Slayer helm recolours. Whereas functional Slayer unlocks will remain Unlocks tab. **Other Changes** - With the festive season now behind us, the Christmas 2025 Event has been removed from the game. - The special attack of Burning Claws now applies the burn to Olm's melee hand in Chambers of Xeric. - Added Leagues V: Raging Echoes Top 100 rankings to the League Accomplishment Scroll in POH. - Watson's notice board now lists the three STASH units added with Sailing. - The quest can now proceed if an NPC deals the final blow on Gadderanks during _In Aid of the Myreque_, instead of the player doing it. - Soulreaper Axe special attack and Moth Mixes will no longer heal the player if they are at 0 HP. - Fixed a bug where Monster Inspect was marked as a members-only spell in the spellbook interface even though it is available to non-members. - The extended Metal Dragons Slayer task now correctly requires 150–200 kills instead of 90–120. - Updated the clue helper box to show the missing information for certain clue scrolls: - The NPC the player needs to talk to is now displayed for the Mus Kil Reader master clue scroll: Radimus Erkle. - The solution is now shown for the EEK ZERO OP medium scroll. - Fixed a bunch of graphical issues: - The cursed banana animation no longer causes glitching if Ahrim's Robe Top and Mystic Robe Skirt are equipped. - Prospector and Golden Prospector outfits have had a tidy-up, so that all pieces line up well together on both body types. - Chatheads with Guild Hunter headwear no longer glitch and display the player character's hair style correctly. - Fixed clipping issues for wall signs and portraits in the Quest Hall of the POH, as well as the Mounted Digsite Pendant and the Mounted Amulet of Glory. - The formal garden layout in the Hosidius house style has had its _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343370/view/514105746262065308]_
