Alerts and Continent Changes

We’re happy to report that Hotfix #3, released on August 31, has resolved the issue affecting the alert and continent change systems.

• Alerts should now finish correctly.

• Continent changes should work smoothly again.

Client Crashes Update

We’d like to provide an update on the current state of client crashes and our ongoing investigation.

While this update does not include any new fixes, specifically related to client crashes, we want to share the latest information and outline what we are currently working on.

According to our crash statistics, the number of daily client crashes has been reduced by approximately 50% since Hotfix #2, released on August 27. We can also confirm that the crash in the garbage collector implementation used for render objects has been fully resolved.

However, we are still receiving reports from players experiencing client crashes, and our logs continue to show several different types of crashes. Our investigation and work on these remaining issues is ongoing.

• Crashes occurring when switching characters — we are continuing to investigate this issue.

• Connection issues being perceived as client crashes — our logs show a significant number of connection drops related to network issues. In some cases, players receive no indication that their connection has been lost, which can make these incidents appear to be client crashes. We are currently working on displaying a clear message when a connection is lost, including information about the possible cause.

• Additional GPU diagnostics — we are working on adding additional diagnostic tools for both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. This will help us investigate more specific cases that may be related to particular GPUs or driver configurations.

• Anti-cheat investigation — at the moment, we do not see any evidence in our logs that the anti-cheat system is contributing to the current situation. However, we are continuing to investigate this possibility as well.

We will continue to keep you informed as our investigation progresses and we release fixes as soon as they are ready.

New Event

We’re excited to introduce a new yearly in-game event — Military Academy.

The event features completely new Directives and a pack of new cosmetics. We plan to bring this event back every September in the future.

Client Crashes Update

Since our previous hotfix, we have received a large number of reports from players confirming that the measures we introduced helped and that they are no longer experiencing crashes during combat. This is also supported by our crash statistics, and we can confirm that the situation has improved significantly and that the most widespread issues have been resolved.

However, we have also received reports from players who are still experiencing client crashes. Our data confirms this as well — we are still seeing several types of crashes in the crash dumps.

We have addressed one of these issues in this hotfix:

• Fixed a crash in the garbage collector implementation used for render objects — this should further reduce the likelihood of client crashes.

Please let us know in Discord if this fix has helped in your case.

As for the crashes that occur when switching characters, we have not been able to resolve this issue yet. We will continue investigating it, along with the remaining types of client crashes.

We will keep you updated as we identify and fix additional causes. Stay tuned for further news!

Server Crashes

• Fixed a memory leak that could cause server crashes.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug introduced in the latest hotfix where the FPS limit behavior changed from treating 0 as unlimited to treating it as 30 FPS. MaximumFPS=0 is now treated as unlimited again.

Client crashes

As promised last Friday, we have prepared fixes for two types of client crashes:

• DLSS-related crashes — you can now safely use DLSS again.

• Invalid values in user configuration files — a new validator for user configuration files will significantly reduce the chances of client crashes caused by incorrect configuration values.

Please let us know in Discord whether these fixes have resolved the crashes in your case.

We will continue investigating other types of client crashes and will share further updates this week if we identify additional root causes.

Depot

The Medic Vehicle Decal will be removed from the in-game store following the withdrawal of its Player Studio creator. As a result, the item is no longer available for sale.

We have patched the game today with fixes, events and sale items. Please see the notes below!

Client crashes

Using the advanced diagnostic tools deployed to the live servers in the previous hotfix, along with player reports from the PTS and live servers, we were able to identify and fix a number of issues:

• Fixed a buffer overflow issue

• Fixed a floating-point overflow issue that caused client crashes in the world interaction system

• Fixed a false-positive infinite loop detection issue

• If the crash is caused by graphics hardware or operating system issue rather than a problem within the game client, players will once again receive the correct error messages from Windows

All of the measures listed above should reduce the likelihood of client crashes.

**Crashes **

Our previous hotfix reduced the number of client crashes by less than we had anticipated.

To further address this issue, we are releasing another client update tomorrow, 6/18. We expect this update to improve stability and further reduce the likelihood of crashes.

We will continue monitoring crash statistics closely. In addition, we would greatly appreciate your feedback on whether this update improves game stability for you.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where consumables were not resupplying to their fully certified capacity.

• Fixed an issue causing the Phylactery Perfect implant to unequip during zone transitions.

• Fixed multiple Hossin TR Shield Gate issues, including opaque shield visuals, shield overflow, and improper gate coverage at certain bases.

We're listening to Your Suggestions!

We've received feedback from the community on Discord that players would like to see more dark-colored cosmetic items, such as armor sets and camouflages. Many of the older solid dark camouflages are currently locked behind challenging directives as rewards.

The Random Camo Pack is a new bundle that grants one random camouflage upon purchase which the player doesn't have yet. It contains approximately 125 Classic, Rare, and Animated camos available to all factions, along with more than 360 faction-specific camos. Faction-specific camos are awarded based on the purchaser's faction.

Compensation

We understand how frustrating these crashes can be for players and are doing our best to resolve them ASAP! Meanwhile, the Double XP event will be extended as compensation for the current issues. Stay tuned for more updates.

Potential Fixes to the Crash Issue

• Fixed several DirectX warnings and concurrency-related issues. These changes should resolve some cases of data corruption and reduce the likelihood of crashes, although they may not completely eliminate the currently observed crashing issues.

• We have also received multiple reports that updating to the latest GPU drivers resolved crashing issues for some players. We recommend updating your GPU drivers to the latest version. If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend performing a clean driver installation after removing the existing drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).

• We will continue monitoring the situation after the hotfix. Please let us know on (https://discord.gg/planetside2) whether the hotfix or updating your GPU drivers helped resolve the issue.

• Additionally, information about your GPU model and driver version will help us better understand the current problem and improve our error handling system in the future. This will also allow us to provide players with clearer and more informative error messages (as we previously did for other issues). Thank you for your patience! We understand how frustrating this issue is and are working to resolve it ASAP.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where multiple repair sources stacked far more effectively than intended. Vehicles will no longer receive excessive regeneration when affected by several repair effects at the same time, restoring intended combat balance.

• Fixed an issue where players could hack terminals and turrets without being an Infiltrator. Hacking is now correctly restricted to the intended class.

• Fixed an issue where the ANT could become airborne when using the Cortium Turbo under certain configurations. Vehicle behavior has been corrected to ensure proper handling and physics.

• Fixed an issue where some jump pads on Indar were facing the wrong direction. Orientation has been corrected.

Crashes and Disconnections / Auto-Kicks

• We continue to monitor the situation and work on improvements aimed at minimizing crashes and disconnects. In this patch, we have improved server-side performance, which should reduce the number of disconnects related to server issues.

• As promised in the previous patch notes, we have made error handling more user-friendly. We have reduced the number of crashes without error messages to a minimum. In the vast majority of cases, players will now see a clear and understandable error message—whether it’s a client crash or a server-side disconnect. In the screenshot, you can see an example of an error message that appears when you are kicked by a server administrator.

If a crash is caused by an issue with the Windows operating system or hardware, we will display the corresponding system error. The game now displays a Windows message with recommended fixes in case of issues with graphics cards that can be resolved only on the OS or BIOS level. Maintenance duration

This March update will involve an extended maintenance period of up to 6 hours instead of the usual 3 hours, as we continue our ongoing work to improve server stability and overall performance.

Crashes and Disconnections / Auto-Kicks

Our main goal is to provide players with a smooth and comfortable gameplay experience. Therefore, issues related to crashes and disconnections/auto-kicks remain our highest priority.

While the latest hotfix significantly reduced the number of crashes — as confirmed by both player reports and internal logs — we were still observing several recurring issues. In this patch, we have addressed a number of them and implemented additional stability improvements.

Unfortunately, not all crashes can be resolved on our side. Some issues are caused by conflicts between the operating system and hardware, which are beyond the game’s control. However, we are providing guidance to help players avoid certain problems.

G12 Crash Investigation

We have investigated the G12 crash.

Our findings indicate that it is caused by issues with the DirectX driver or the graphics card.

Players experiencing this issue (receiving the "G12" error code after a crash) should:

• Update their graphics card drivers to the latest version.

• If their system has both integrated and discrete graphics cards (commonly found in laptops), try disabling the integrated graphics card through the BIOS.

Please note: On the latest versions of Windows 11, the system may lose detection of graphics devices when switching between GPUs. This behavior is related to the operating system and cannot be fixed on the game’s side.

Other Crash related Fixes

• Fixed several crashes caused by errors in the audio system.

• Implemented additional internal stability improvements to reduce unexpected disconnections and auto-kicks.

We will continue monitoring crash reports and player feedback to further improve stability in future updates. We are also planning to give more readable error messages in case of crash\autokicks to speed up the investigations in future.

Crashes issue

• We have received a significant number of reports from players regarding crashes and disconnects following the February update. After an investigation, we determined that these were not client-side crashes, but kicks triggered by the anti-cheat system. In this hotfix, we have adjusted the anti-cheat system to reduce the likelihood of false positives (unintended kicks).

Bug Fixes

• Matchmaker: Sightseeing Mission fixed.

• The Stalker Cloak ability now recharges while standing still. Fixed recharge functionality across all ability levels.

• Permissions in Construction are now working properly.

Bug Fixes

• Bastion – Ejection Issue Fixed an issue where pressing ** while seated in the Bastion caused players to be ejected from the rear of the ship instead of entering a carried aircraft as intended. Outfit members who own the Bastion will now correctly enter the aircrafts, while allied players outside the outfit will enter drop pods.

Infiltrator Rework

After four phases of testing, we’re excited to present the reworked Infiltrator class! Throughout the process, we’ve made adjustments based on your feedback from the PTS, and we hope you’ll enjoy the changes and new features.

However, we understand that live server conditions — especially during large-scale battles involving hundreds of players — may feel different from the PTS experience. Cloaking Adjustments

• Increased delay between decloaking and firing

• Cloaked players are now more visible and audible at close range

• Stalker Cloak no longer allows infinite stealth while moving

Wraith Cloak (Flash) Changes

• Increased delay between decloaking and firing

• Cloak effectiveness decreases significantly at close distances

New Tool – Recon Drone

• A deployable scout drone can be equipped as a tool and be controlled by the Infiltrator

• It can mark enemies for allies within a limited range

• Advanced Sensors System (Tier 6): Spotted enemies remain marked even if they cloak

• Hanging Munition Ability: Allows the drone to deploy any grenade available to the Infiltrator class

• The Infiltrator remains stationary and vulnerable while piloting the drone

• The Drone has a limited battery, low health, and emits detectable audio/visual cues

• The drone cannot be used in conjunction with cloaking abilities

• Based on player feedback from PTS, C4 can not be attached to the Recon Drone

New Implants

• New Observer Implant for the Engineer class. By equipping this implant, Spitfire turrets can now spot cloaked Infiltrators and attack them. Ignores the Avoidance implant

• New Infiltrator Implant – _Remote Hacking _Effect: This implant enables the Infiltrator to use the Recon Drone to hack enemy turrets and terminals

• Recommended Workaround: We suggest assigning separate keybindings for “Hacking/Interacting” and “Exit Vehicle” to improve gameplay comfort

• New Engineer Implant – Sharing Is Caring Effect: Upon activation, the Engineer’s entire personal shield is depleted, redistributing its energy to nearby squad members within a limited radius. Result: Affected allies temporarily gain bonus shield capacity that exceeds their normal maximum (up to a defined cap)

• New Combat Medic Implant – Hospitaller Effect: While reviving a fallen ally, the Combat Medic’s personal shield capacity is increased

Scope Glint

A new scope glint mechanic has been added to provide counterplay against long-range, hidden snipers.

• Trigger: Visible only when aiming down sights with optics of 6x zoom or higher

• Effect: Creates a bright reflection (glint) visible to enemies in line of sight

This encourages snipers to reposition more frequently and take more deliberate shots, while maintaining the lethality of precision weapons

Players have the option to disable Scope Glint effect on allied players (same faction) in the game settings

Spotting tools

Based on player feedback and the enhanced spotting capabilities of the Reckon Drone, we have made the following adjustments to Infiltrator spotting tools:

Known Issue

• When riding in a Bastion, you will be ejected from the rear of the ship instead of entering a carried aircraft as intended. We are investigating this issue and recommend refraining from purchasing a Bastion at this time.

Bug Fixes

• Osprey Server Halloween Event Issue Resolved A server error on Osprey that impacted the Nanite of Living Dead event was identified and fixed during yesterday's maintenance and will be fully patched tomorrow. The event will be fully playable on that server. We will continue monitoring sever performance.

• Event Extension for All Servers As compensation, the Nanite of Living Dead event has been extended across all servers until November 11th, 2025.

• Double XP Weekend Scheduled A Double XP event will run from: October 10th – October 13th, 2025 (00:00 server time)

• Toxic Exhaust VFX Now Available The Toxic Exhaust visual effects are now purchasable for both the Vanguard and Prowler.

• Localization Fix The Vanguard Toxic Exhaust now displays the correct description after a localization error was corrected.

• Fixed a bug preventing the extension of events. Summer Bravo Event will be active again immediately after the servers start. Event Finishes on September 16th, 2025 at 00:00 server time (PDT), as a part of promised compensation for the previous desync problem. All Directives progress will be saved. Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug where weapon categories under "My Stats" on the My Character Screen no longer appear after a certain number of categories have been added.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a major desynchronization bug on the Wainwright server that would look like players were being killed by invisible enemies, among other symptoms. This was due to a desynchronization issue with gateways that has been addressed yesterday.

We are aware of the severity of the bug and how it has effected the community and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are extending both directive event and sales along with activating a double xp event and have just added 7 more days of Daybreak All-Access to members who logged into Wainwright during the de-sync week.

Time Extensions of Sales, Events and Memberships

As part of our compensation efforts to address the major desynchronization bug on Wainwright we will extend the following:

• Summer Bravo Event Directive (Operation: Kaiju) and its accompanying alerts will be extended for 7 days.

• The 40% off infantry weapons sale will be extended by 7 days.

• All Access members who logged into Wainwright during the week of heavy de-syncing have just received 7 more days of membership added to their account.

Bug Fixes

• Removed Flora that is clipping through the floors of buildings on Oshur.

• Water impacts added for MAD Mode with the Colossus.

• There has been a fix for Point Control getting stuck or not updating correctly. As a result, some players may find Point Control Oshur has been reset. Unfortunately we had to make a decision on which Point Control was to be affected by the fix and felt that the least damaging to directive progression was resetting Conquest - Oshur's Point Control directive.

• As a result of the previous fix we have adjusted the Master Tier of Point Control directives on Conquest: Hossin, Oshur, Amerish, Indar and Esamir have been adjusted from 2500 Point Control Ribbons to 250.
