Displayed capes should now behave the same as wearable cape with emotes, teleports and features. You'll be able to right-click the cape on its stand to get its features. - You can now add noted potions to the cauldron. - We've re-added the ability to make a cup of tea in the player owned house that boosts the player's construction level. - We fixed a bug where furniture pieces that were walls were being deleted when building or removing a room next to them. - Looking forward on the subject of Construction: - We're working on increasing furniture limits - these changes need to be tested and require a full engine update to ensure that the system retains a good level of performance. We're looking forward to the next Engine Update opportunity to implement these changes if possible, but that may take a little longer. - The Portable Workbench remains at the top of our mind, and we will share more news on it in the near future. - Finally, we want to conclude today's Construction changes with a note that we have so many more ideas for how to improve and expand the Player-Owned Housing system as a new reward space - and we'll be doing that throughout the future. Functional furniture especially is an area where we have a number of thoughts for things we would include in future content updates. **Mid-Game Rebalance:** - Since the Mid-Game Rebalance launched last week, below is a list of what we've actioned during the week. Today's patch notes include further details on what we've addressed today. - We fixed a bug that was causing the God Wars Dungeon kill count to be reset when using the Wars Retreat portal (and similar PvM portals). - We fixed a bug that was causing Seals to drop in God Wars Dungeon 2 even when players were at max reputation. - We fixed a bug that was preventing Broad arrows and any special arrow from displaying the correct "make-x" interface - We fixed a bug where Demonic Skull's were only being refunded once per account, even if the player had multiple Demonic Skulls. - Should you have been affected by this (e.g. you had multiple skulls but only got refunded for one), please be aware that our Player Support team should already have reached out and refunded the difference to you. - We fixed a bug related to Shortbows, Longbows and Crossbows not providing the correct amount of components. The Junk component chance been lowered as a result of the retiering. - We're planning to add a boss pet override option for the Jad pet - this hasn't been done yet as the pet is missing attack and defend animations. That work will take a little longer to complete, but we didn't want to have those missing animations block us from making the change alongside the Mid-Game Rebalance. ##### **What's happening this week:** - From Tuesday, July 28th we will be kicking off our Daily League Reveals! The Mid-Game Rebalance has arrived, with a strong focus on improving the mid-game experience through targeted buffs and quality-of-life upgrades. Our goal is to bring key areas of progression up to more modern standards and make the journey through the mid-game more rewarding. Let's get into it! ##### ** Index:** - Core Fletching Re-Tier - Agility Rebalance - Divination Reblance - God Wars Dungeon Changes - General Changes - Drop Rate Changes Most of this may feel familiar to some you if you already checked out our preview a few weeks back - since then we've changed the following things, so do check out the details on those below: ##### ** Changes since the Mid-Game Rebalance Preview:** - Further buffed XP for Anachronia full lap completions (details in Agility Rebalance). - Further buffed XP for Harmonic Dust (details in General Changes). - Removed negative perks from invention (details in General Changes). - Increased the weighting for Vannaka to offer Sanguine Crawler tasks. - The Artificers measure now has parity with the new Upgraded Gem bag and can be filled with Opal, Jade and Topaz gems as well as noted gems. ##### **Core Fletching Re-Tier** The Fletching re-tier has been in the works for quite some time, and the Mid-Game Rebalance provides the perfect opportunity to finally bring it to life. Over the years, a number of inconsistencies have appeared throughout Fletching progression. Certain weapons and ammunition have level requirements that don't align with similarly powerful equipment found elsewhere in the game, while some level bands contain noticeable gaps or confusing progression paths. Some of these issues have also emerged as a result of previous Woodcutting tiering changes. This update aims to address the majority of those inconsistencies, creating a more logical and intuitive progression path for both Fletching and Ranged combat. By aligning item requirements more closely with their power, filling progression gaps, and improving consistency across level bands, we want the journey from early levels through to 99 and beyond to feel smoother, easier to understand, and more rewarding. It's important to note that this update focuses on re-tiering the core Fletching skill rather than overhauling it entirely. As a result, not every Fletching item has been revisited as part of this project. Darts, knives, and javelins will remain unchanged for now. Given their relatively low usage in the current game, we felt comfortable prioritising other areas of Fletching progression for this update. However, we're keen to revisit these items in the future as part of a broader review of their role and relevance within RuneScape's combat and skilling ecosystems. ##### **Summary of Changes** - Retiered existing Shortbows, Longbows, Crossbows and 2h Crossbows - Yew shortbows and longbows are retiered to level 70 and, as a result, have become members only items. Free-to-play players will still have level 40 and 50 Ranged options through Maple and Acadia bows. - Added in additional Shortbows, Longbows, Crossbows and 2h Crossbows to fill in holes in the leveling. - Shieldbows are being retired and replaced wholesale with their equivalent tier Longbows. - Our data indicates that shieldbows have been left in such an awkward space that their usage is incredibly low, meaning that they actually add bloat and inconsistency to the game. By replacing them with Longbows we expect the choice of bow to be made easier and less confusing for players. - The primary reason for this change is because shieldbows have acted as a bit of a trap to newer players who are fletching them without realising that they deal vastly reduced damage compared to an equivalent shortbow, despite them having a higher fletching requirement. - All current shieldbows gain +1 range when converted to longbows. - The Strykebow remain as a shieldbow. - Standardised metal usage in Crossbow creation. - Drop tables and shop inventory _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/706651749010638287]_ ### Everything you need to know about Player Owned Housing! - Date: 2026-07-13 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/670622499729311256 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-670622499729311256 - **added** — Access to over 650 pieces of furniture and decorations for player-owned houses - **added** — Free furniture placement system allowing players to create custom layouts - **added** — Five house exterior styles to choose from - **added** — Twelve room shapes available for construction - **added** — Ability to customize doorway spaces with open doorways, filled walls, or walls with windows - **added** — Furniture Storage system in Rimmington to store and access crafted and collected furniture - **added** — Homestead feature allowing up to five players to create and build a shared home together - **added** — Eternal furniture that can be crafted as part of the new progression system - **added** — Construction skill progression extended to level 120 - **changed** — Player-Owned Housing system completely rebuilt from the ground up with new mechanics and player freedom - **changed** — Room placement system now allows adding rooms via doorways or manual placement with rotation controls - **changed** — Enhanced mouse and keyboard controls for manipulating room and furniture positions - **changed** — Construction skill reimagined with new furniture crafting system and progression journey - **changed** — Free-to-play Construction level cap raised to level 20 ##### Welcome Home For nearly two decades, Player-Owned Housing has been a part of the RuneScape journey. It's where many of us built our first virtual homes (way before we knew what the heck a mortgage is), proudly showed off our achievements, hosted house parties with friends and spent far too much time figuring out where to put that next portal. It was our corner of Gielinor. A place that was uniquely ours! But as RuneScape continued to grow, Player-Owned Housing remained largely unchanged. The fantasy of building and customising your own home has always been there, but the tools available to bring that vision to life haven't kept pace with the game around it. Well... that changes TODAY! Today, we're excited to share the next chapter of Player-Owned Housing and Construction. This isn't just an update to an already existing feature. It's a complete reimagining of one of RuneScape's most iconic systems, rebuilt from the ground up to give you more freedom, more creativity, more progression and more reasons than EVER to call this little plot of land your home! And better yet, just like our Dungeoneering overhaul, this rework is intended to set a foundation that can enable both the Player-Owned-House and the Construction skill to continue to develop and expand in future. Whether you're dreaming of a cosy cottage tucked away from the world, a huge mansion filled with all the trophies you've collected on your adventures, or a bustling Homestead shared with your friends, this update is designed to help you create a space that reflects your journey. Welcome home! ##### Blog Index - What's new and why we're so excited - Build the home you've always wanted - Proudly display your journey - A house you'll actually use - Create or join a Homestead with other players - Construction reimagined - What's happening with your old home - Getting Started - Get your Housewarming Gift ##### What's New and Why We're So Excited Let's start with the easiest of questions: Who is this update for? Our video above and our blog below will go into much more detail, but here's a tl;dr preview what's waiting for you: - Build and decorate with over 650 pieces of furniture and decoration. - Place furniture freely and create layouts that are uniquely yours. - Showcase your adventures with trophy rooms, collectables and displays earned throughout your journey. - Find a home for all those items you've been hoarding for years..! - Craft prestigious Eternal furniture and create your dream home like never before. - Create a Homestead with up to five players and build a thriving community together. - Take Construction all the way to level 120 with a brand-new progression journey and furniture crafting system. - The free-to-play level cap is being raised to level 20. ##### Build the Home You've Always Wanted Every great home starts with an idea. At the heart of the new Player-Owned Housing experience is the freedom to make it your own, and the first time you step into Build Mode, you'll immediately notice something significant has changed... In total, you'll have access to or be able to unlock: - 5 house exterior styles - 12 room shapes - Over 650 pieces of furniture and decorations - Free furniture placement - Updated classics and brand new additions Now let's dive into the details of what the above actually means! ##### **Room placement** Let's start with room placement. As always, bad actors are always cooking up new tricks. We've heard of a new few ones including fake P-Mod application forms asking for login details and illegitimate Jagex Launcher downloads hosted on other websites. This is a quick reminder to stay safe out there and think twice before entering sensitive details or downloading anything advertised as relative to RuneScape. There are no P-Mod Application forms, and anything you download for RuneScape must be a subdomain of [Jagex.com](https://Jagex.com) or [RuneScape.com](https://RuneScape.com) to be considered safe. Always download anything directly through our website or Launcher – nowhere else. Some rules we always recommend: - Don't click suspicious links or download unknown files. - Jagex will never ask for your password or verification codes via email or messages. Never give away credentials that could be used to access your account. - Use your browser's phishing filters. While work still continues, we've today addressed instances of missing skin, incorrect or washed out colours, Npcs missing their chatheads, stretching issues and clipping issues. The Max and Comp Capes should now also be a little less floaty and a bit more snug and attached. - We addressed issues with some animations, specifically making sure you no longer look quite so wonky or unhinged during Party Fever Walk, Shrug and Parasol Idle. - We also resolved issues with 16 animal masks that are obtainable from clue scrolls (so you should no longer randomly have a bald held when wearing them). - Finally, we are in the process of spinning up a new system to have unique female and male chathead animations. This will in turn allow us to improve the female chathead and push this much closer to the mesh seen on the body. - Just to recap our previous prioritization of work: - Focus on fixing Critical Bugs and known issues. - Finish off the outstanding work to bring all items in line with the new Avatar. That includes ensuring none of the old Avatar skin is present on worn items. - Consider which modifications to Avatar faces or body proportions are necessary and possible based on evolving community feedback. - Further patch notes for the Avatar can be found below. ##### ** In Case You Missed It:** - Last week we shared updates on two hugely anticipated projects - check them out here! - [Grand Exchange Improvements Preview](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/road-to-restoration---ge-improvements-preview) - We took a deeper look at the Grand Exchange and shared what's coming up for this exciting project in the near future! - [API Project Check In](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/api-project-check-in) - We offered you a a peek behind the curtain on this project and also look to get your thoughts on your more anticipated plug-ins! ##### ** JMod Replies on discussions worth highlighting:** - [Mod Anvil on working with the RS Wiki team](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1u8cq1g/comment/os7bvkr/?context=3). - [Mod Shrike on why the community proposed Wendlewick Agility Course is unviable.](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1u81ow9/comment/os6lvjv/?context=3) - [Mod Ryan on in game timeline inconsistencies.](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1u87sr1/comment/oscpsj3/?context=3) ##### ** Waterbirth Island Exterior Graphical Update (or WIEGU for short)** --- After Mod Zact's update to the Lunar isles it's time for another Fremennik island to be given a fresh look. _Before/After_ In between projects, Mod Shiba has been planting trees and scattering snow all around the exterior of Waterbirth Island giving it a facelift and bringing it in line with more of Gielinor. Alternatively, [watch on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbouJc_Fph8)_ Before we continue, let's clear up what is a "Player Avatar"? In short, the Player Avatar is you or, more accurately, your character in Gielinor. It's the character beneath the armour that you created when you first started your account. Those foundational customization choices such as gender, hairstyle, top, legs, shoes, and facial hair, along with the colour options available for each, are what make up your Avatar. These core appearance options are the focus of today's update. Handsome fellow, right? So, when we talk about the Player Avatar, we're talking about your character's baseline appearance, the foundation that everything else is built upon. Your adventures, achievements, and personal story all sit on top of this representation. But beneath it all is your new Avatar! Over the years, RuneScape has featured a variety of player avatars, from 2D sprites to fully 3D characters. Each was a product of the technology and game engine available at the time. In 2021, we began work on the Player Avatar Refresh project, with the goal of taking the next step forward. After weeks of community consultation, livestreams, and collaboration with players to develop a remastered visual style that felt true to RuneScape, we encountered a significant obstacle: technical limitations. The underlying systems simply weren't ready to support the changes we wanted to make. As a result, the project was put on the infamous shelf. While it may have seemed dormant from the outside, behind the scenes our technical teams continued laying the groundwork, building the tools and systems needed to make a future Avatar refresh possible. Now, we're ready to get this modern, grounded avatar into your hands today! ##### **Today's Release:** The Player Avatar is a gargantuan project that touches a wide variety of systems. It isn’t just your character, it also affects NPCs throughout the world as well as armour sets, outfits and cosmetics, the wardrobe system, chat systems, and much more. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find an area of the game that isn’t impacted in some way. Today's update lay's the foundations with a new base avatar, updated hairstyles and facial hair options. When you login today you should slip into your new shape with minimal friction as most outfits and armour have been updated to work with the new avatar! If you do encounter anything unexpected, please check out the [known issues section below.](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/player-avatar-refresh-has-arrived#known) ##### **New Base Avatar** The star of the show, the base avatar has been updated to a new modernized standard whilst maintaining elements of the RuneScape style. So, new torso, arms, hands, legs, feet and of course face! With the face being updated we have also updated the chathead (which is actually a separate model) so your conversations will now be in higher definition! Additionally, several pieces of the base outfit kit you choose from during character creation or at Thessalia's shop have been updated, while others have been tweaked to fit this new body - your preferred style should still be available to you! ##### **Updated Hairstyles** With a fresh face we definitely needed some fresh cuts and so we have updated 46 Female hairstyles & 37 Male hairstyles to fit this new head, including tons of your favourite styles! And that's not all the styles! ##### **Legacy Hairstyles** You'll notice that some hairstyles are part of a new "Legacy hairstyles" category. Originally we had planned to remove some older and less used styles as part of this update, but after further investigation and insights fro _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/719032843360011344]_ ### Uncover the Secrets of Amberfell - Date: 2026-06-01 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/692010611426461919 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-692010611426461919 - **added** — New quest: Secrets of Amberfell - **changed** — Engine update in preparation for Player Avatar launch on June 8th ##### Index: - [New Quest: Secrets of Amberfell](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/uncover-the-secrets-of-amberfell?_gl=1*i5srjj*_gcl_au*MTAxNDIyMTA1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga*MTAxNzAxMTI1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga_DSN9YBF934*czE3ODAzMDMwNzEkbzQ0JGcxJHQxNzgwMzEwMDE3JGo2MCRsMCRoMTUwNDExNzM5NA..#quest) - [Merch Store Update](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/uncover-the-secrets-of-amberfell?_gl=1*i5srjj*_gcl_au*MTAxNDIyMTA1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga*MTAxNzAxMTI1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga_DSN9YBF934*czE3ODAzMDMwNzEkbzQ0JGcxJHQxNzgwMzEwMDE3JGo2MCRsMCRoMTUwNDExNzM5NA..#merch) - [This Weeks Patch Notes](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/uncover-the-secrets-of-amberfell?_gl=1*i5srjj*_gcl_au*MTAxNDIyMTA1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga*MTAxNzAxMTI1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga_DSN9YBF934*czE3ODAzMDMwNzEkbzQ0JGcxJHQxNzgwMzEwMDE3JGo2MCRsMCRoMTUwNDExNzM5NA..#patch) - [Whats Happening in the Community](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/uncover-the-secrets-of-amberfell?_gl=1*i5srjj*_gcl_au*MTAxNDIyMTA1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga*MTAxNzAxMTI1OC4xNzc4OTQxNzAy*_ga_DSN9YBF934*czE3ODAzMDMwNzEkbzQ0JGcxJHQxNzgwMzEwMDE3JGo2MCRsMCRoMTUwNDExNzM5NA..#community) ##### Community Topics Last week we launched a significant update to our engine in preparation to support the upcoming Player Avatar launch on June 8th, as part of this update our team has been monitoring reports of graphical issues and we have seen three particular areas of issues crop up. - AMD Graphic Cards on the latest set of drivers have been having rendering issues causing things like missing textures/blank areas. This issue arose in the last few weeks with the launch of the latest AMD drivers and our update last Monday has just brought this into frame for more players. - This issue is currently resolved by rolling back your graphic drivers to a more stable previous patch. - We are currently investigating this from our side to reduce future complications but whenever there is a new set of graphic drivers there is always the potential for a mismatch. - We have also recieved reports from MAC OS users of similar missing texture and graphical issues occurring. Our team has been diving into these reports all week and the common element is the use of Intel integrated GPU and the team is working on a fix - Other users have reported stuttering or framerates hitching especially when transitioning to regions such as going from the overworld to a cave system and this is further noticeable for users who hide the loading screens. We currently investigating a solution to this issue but there is not a current ETA on a release. We will continue to monitor this update but if you have been running into any graphical issues please contiunue to report them via the in game report feature as this helps us gather up your computer specs which help immensely with these investigations. - We will be sharing June's Month Ahead later today be on the lookout for that! - We are running a Quarterly Survey currently! You can find it in the lobby, head on over when you next login and help us shape the future of RuneScape! ##### JMod Replies on discussions worth highlighting or not covered above: - [Mod Yuey clarifies a question about carer tickets for Runefest.](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1tp1nj3/comment/oo6n4d5/?context=3) - [Mod Soul has been dilligently](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1tpjri6/comment/oocgv5c/?context=3) [chasing after info for graphical issues](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1toa449/comment/oocgqqp/?context=3) [that cropped up this week.](https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1tp5hjn/comment/ooceuz8/?context=3) ### Back To Our Square Roots - Date: 2026-04-27 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/528751954186208194 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-528751954186208194 - **added** — Double XP event running for ten days starting Friday May 1st with 48 hours of Double XP to use at your leisure - **added** — Items previously obtained using Loyalty Points from Solomons Store added to the Marketplace as a free bundle for all members - **changed** — Improved Necromancy Conjures so players are unable to target them, making traversal and movement skills easier to use - **changed** — Conjured Zombies particle trail length reduced and summoned zombie SFX updated - **changed** — Residual Soul stacks now only visible to yourself instead of showing to other players - **changed** — Residual Soul stacks now hide when unequipping a lantern and reappear when equipping one - **changed** — HP and Prayer boosted buffs removed from the buff bar - **changed** — Tile Indicator visual transformed from a circle to a square to clearly show movement direction and enemy size - **changed** — Scripture of Wen pillar of light revamped into a more subtle visual and sound effect - **changed** — Aftershock VFX size reduced to be less obtrusive and cluttering, with SFX updated to match - **changed** — Incite Fear VFX size reduced to be less obtrusive with SFX updated to match - **changed** — Sapphire and Opal Aurora spells tweaked to reduce VFX amount and visual effects with Prism Spells revamped to be less intrusive - **changed** — Yakamaru's Poison attack landing area readability improved - **changed** — AOD Minions displayed in order of being killed below boss health bar from left to right - **changed** — Boon of Apmeken VFX size reduced - **changed** — Dive and Escape cosmetic effect trails reduced in size to improve visibility - **changed** — Lumberjack's Intuition clarity and visibility improved when chopping Eternal Magic Trees ##### **Index** - [Game Update: Visual Update - World Declutter](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/back-to-our-square-roots#Visual) - [Double XP is back! [Find out more here!](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/the-new-face-of-runescape) ##### **Patch Notes:** - Improved Necromancy Conjure's so that players are unable to target them anymore making it easier to traverse and use movement skills. - Additionally they are now lower in the visibility order so NPCs will appear on top of them if they are on the same square. - Reduced the length of the Conjured Zombies particle trail and updated SFX when the zombie is summoned and walking around. - Residual Soul stacks are now only visible to yourself, no longer do you need to see how many souls your fellow Necromancers are working with. - Similarly, they also now hide when unequipping a lantern and reappear when equipping one. This should help cut down on UI elements in combat with friends! - The HP and Prayer boosted buffs have been removed from the buff bar, these very common buffs were taking up valuable real estate while being something players could easily see elsewhere in their UI. - We have kept the negative version of these effects though as it's useful for specific bits of content (Magister / Zuk). - Transformed the Tile Indicator visual to be a square instead of a circle, this should help clearly show which tile you're moving towards along with showing an enemies size. - The blinding pillar of light from the Scripture of Wen has been revamped into a more subtle visual and sound effect. - Updated the size of the Aftershock VFX to be less obtrusive and visually cluttering. The SFX have also been updated to match. - The size of the Incite Fear VFX has been reduced to be less obtrusive and the SFX has been updated to match. - The Sapphire and Opal Aurora spells have been tweaked to reduce the amount of VFX, additionally the visual effects when used with the Prism Spells have been r _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/528751954186208194]_ ### Game Jam QoL, Simpler Enrage Scaling & More! - Date: 2026-04-20 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/747175998486741607 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-747175998486741607 - **added** — Game Jam projects are now live in the game - **added** — Enrage choosing has been unlocked for Telos, Arch-Glacor, and Zamorak, Lord of Chaos, allowing players to start at any enrage level up to 4,000% - **added** — Zamorak encounter allows players to push beyond 4,000% enrage with each successful kill at the highest enrage above 4,000% increasing enrage by 100% increments - **added** — Quiet World smarthop feature suggests quieter worlds for the current location to help players find chill grind spots - **added** — Boss portal sorting system allowing players to sort by Chronological (Old to New), Chronological (New to Old), Alphabetical (Ascending), or Alphabetical (Descending) - **added** — Device status section added to the Potion Reservoir tooltip showing if the device is turned on - **added** — Aspect spells can now be cast multiple times to extend buffs up to a total of 1 hour duration with a multicast option for x5 the rune cost - **changed** — Rune pouches maximum stack capacity increased to 2,147,483,647 runes of a type to be consistent with the Necromancy Nexus - **changed** — Penance spell moved to the Ancient spellbook - **changed** — Amascut boss encounter wave timing adjusted with 3-tick delay at 4,000 enrage, 4-tick delay at 2,000 enrage, and 5-tick delay across all other encounters - **changed** — Fish Farm XP yield per catch adjusted for each fish type - **changed** — Fish Farm pools now generate more fish per run - **changed** — Required number of fish to start farming the swordfish pool has been increased - **changed** — Death's Swiftness audio no longer plays after the ability has ended - **changed** — Visual effects of some Melee abilities updated - **fixed** — Fixed spellbook swap spell not returning to original spellbook after casting Penance - **fixed** — Fixed limitless ability not triggering correctly - **fixed** — Fixed weapon bundles in the marketplace appearing as available when already purchased - **fixed** — Fixed disconnects when adding new favourites in the Grand Exchange interface - **fixed** — Fixed Masterwork sinew dropping on the ground when crafting with a full inventory ##### **Game Jam Projects** A handful of Game Jam projects have made it through the pipeline and are now live in the game today! ##### **Boss Enrage Mechanics Update** With the release of Amascut we had created a Boss with a smoother enrage experience and many players have requested we show the same love to previous enrage bosses, and now it’s finally here. Mod Pigeon and Mod Reaper have been hard at work getting this one wrapped up but now Enrage choosing has now been unlocked for the following encounters: - Telos - Arch-Glacor - Zamorak, Lord of Chaos Players can now start at any enrage level they choose, all the way up to the fabled 4,000%. []({STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/38802315/135027abf6851296c25f15123ef211c89c291c29.png) Zamorak due to going to 60,000 enrage works a little differently as to respect the time and achievements of our most dedicated Zamorak players, the Zamorak encounter will initially allow entry up to 4,000% enrage only. Then once you have bested 4,000%, you will be able to push beyond that threshold with each successful Zamorak kill at your highest enrage above 4,000% now increasing enrage by 100% increments (up from 10%). ##### **Quiet World smarthop** Been on the hunt for a slayer drop but keep running into cannons and coils? Well Mod Samy & Easty has been working on a smart hop feature to help players find a quieter world when looking for a chill grind spot, this feature will suggest quieter worlds for the spot you are in and make hopping easier. ##### **Boss Portal Sorting** Mod Helen popped the hood on the Boss portal system to do some dev side stuff that will make it easier to work on in the future and while she was at it installed a sorting system so that players can choose how the list is ordered to help find the best you seek! By default it's set to Chronological (Old → New) which is the current style but you can also now reverse this and sort it alphabetically! This affects both the War's Retreat & Max Guild portals. ##### **Potion Reservoir Device status** And as a bonus Mod Helen has also retrofitted the Potion Reservoir with a Device status so players can know if it's doing its job at a quick glance. ##### **Upgrading the Rune Pouch capacity** Ever since the addition of the Necromancy Nexus, players have asked for the same rune capacity to be added to the existing Rune Pouches and Mod Desert has done just that! Took a little elbow grease but you should now be able to store up to 2,147,483,647 of a type in your pouches! ##### **Patch Notes** **_Fixes and Improvements In this week's game update_** ##### **Hotfix** - Fixed an issue that was preventing the spellbook swap spell from returning to the original spellbook after casting the 'Penance' spell. - Fixed an issue that was not allowing the limitless ability to be triggered correctly. - Fixed an issue with weapon bundles in the marketplace appearing as available when they had actually already been purchased. - Fixed an issue that caused disconnects when adding new favourites in the Grand Exchange interface. ##### **Game Jam** - Added a device status section to the potion reservoir's tooltip which informs the player if the device is turned on. - Implemented various QoL improvements to the portals at War's Retreat and the Max Guild: - The boss portal interface has options to sort the bosses by: - Chronological (Old to New) - Chronological (New to Old) - Alphabetical (Ascending) - Alphabetical (Descending) - The default option when first opening the interface is set to "Chronological (Old to New)" - A new button has been added to the World Select menu for the new Quiet World hopping. - Made a change to rune pouches to increase the max stack of runes held to be consistent with the Necromancy Nexus. - Boss Enrage Unlocking has now been unlocked for the following encounters: - Telos - Arch-Glacor - Zamorak - Across all three encounters, players can now start at any enrage level they choose, up to the fabled 4,0 _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/747175998486741607]_ ### Blooming Burrow Returns! - Date: 2026-03-30 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/508483399701234455 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-508483399701234455 ##### **Content:** - Today we're launching the [Blooming Burrow spring event](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/blooming-burrow-returns#burrow) as well as an update to the [Cosmetic Toggle](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/blooming-burrow-returns#toggle). The goal is not to create a piece of content you complete once and move on from. Instead it's a place that becomes part of your journey through the world. Think of places like Varrock or Falador. Locations you return to again and again as your adventure continues. This first release lays the foundations for the island. Over time Havenhythe will continue to grow as more stories, activities and discoveries are added throughout the year. It's also been built with space in mind, so as RuneScape continues to evolve, Havenhythe can grow alongside it without feeling crowded or boxed in. For now, your journey begins with a small village on the coast. ##### **Welcome to Wendlewick** Your first stop in Havenhythe is Wendlewick, a small village that sits along the island’s shoreline. This is where you will meet the locals who call Havenhythe home. Among them are the village leaders Adam, Zeke and Esther, each playing a role in the community that has formed here. Wendlewick isn't just somewhere to find quests. As you explore the village and the surrounding area, you will find small tasks, characters to meet, and stories that help bring the place to life. Some of these are easy to stumble across. Others may take a little more curiosity to uncover. ##### **Exploring Havenhyt _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/499475385191237078]_ ### DailyScape Overhaul & Free Runemetrics for Members - Date: 2026-03-16 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/503978351043543911 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-503978351043543911 Check out today's "This Week in RuneScape" [blog on the link here](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/dailyscape-overhaul--free-runemetrics-for-members?_gl=1*1q2tk5z*_gcl_au*OTk4NTQ4MTY1LjE3NzI0NTAyNjI.*_ga*MTI1NzY4MjUzNS4xNzY0NTgyNjg5*_ga_DSN9YBF934*czE3NzM2NjY2MDkkbzYzJGcxJHQxNzczNjY2ODc0JGo2MCRsMCRoMzc5MTcxMjU4), including some tweaks to Combat and more information about RuneMetrics. ##### Today's Update - **DailyScape Overhaul Launch** - This update is going live today. We used that same Thieving Rebalance to share our views on what AFK gameplay should offer in RuneScape - you can read more about[ that here](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/thieving-rebalance-high-level-pickpocketing-update). The associated coldfix launched last Thursday. You can read the patch notes below. - On Wednesday we launched our fifth and final beta update for the upcoming Combat Style Modernisation. Since then we've been actively reading your discussions and asking follow up questions where possible (see JMod links below). While it's still too early in the week to commit to any completely revised designs, the discussions have been valuable! For example, we have understood your feelings around moving aura effects into either the Pocket slot or the Relic System, so we will look into better alternatives for these and will not look to add any aura effects into the Pocket Slot or Relic system. Other feedback will need more time to be reviewed and considered, so we won't yet be able to respond on that. We also want to better highlight where our JMods have provided some smaller insights into non-megathread discussions over the last week. As mentioned before, Combat is something we're keen to maintain a close eye on, and it will continue to receive tweaks every now and again. - **Grand Exchange Improvements** - Part 5 of our Road to Restoration blog series, the "Grand Exchange Improvements" project is about enabling players to able to trade quickly and fairly through a moderni _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/541131149009750148]_ ### Community Discussions & This Week in RuneScape - Date: 2026-02-09 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/537752181137212466 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-537752181137212466 ##### **Community Topics:** ##### **In Case You Missed It + Our Reactions to Last Week** - Last week we shared what we want to achieve on the [Road to Restoration](https://steamcommunity.com/games/1343400/announcements/detail/537752181137211567) and also shared a preview of our upcoming [Early Game Rebalance and DailyScape Overhaul](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/road-to-restoration--early-game-rebalance--dailyscape-overhaul). - Having posted the latter blog on Friday and let discussions run their course for the weekend, we're spending this morning looking at what feedback we might be able to implement as part of the respective updates or where we can provide clarification. While we're moving in the overall right direction and are firm in our resolve to get there, your feedback, as always, helps identify areas of change where a little more consideration is required. With that in mind, here are just a few short (non-exhaustive) notes below: - An easy one to not go ahead with is the Chaos Altar and the Demonic Skull. We've heard you loud and clear on this point, and will not require the Demonic Skull to be used at the Chaos Altar. Instead, we will change the Chaos Altar buff to have it be acquired through the Wilderness area diary. - Livid Farm, Sacred Clay and RuneSpan points have, amongst other things, featured heavily in your discussions. We are considering what can be done about these - while we're not yet ready to commit to anything yet, we just want to let you know that we're taking your thoughts on board. - For consumables like Vis Wax and Wicked Hood Teleport charges, you will be able to continue using your remaining ones. A brief reminder: They will not be removed from your inventories at this time. - For Thieving, we will tweak the planned changes to the Crystal Mask as well as look to increase high level pickpocketing buffs. We still want to position the Crystal Mask as the best unlock for thieving when used in combination with Light form. - Additionally, in Friday's blog we mentioned there were further Hunter buffs in the works for the early levels. We'll be buffing Bird and Kebbit catching methods, such as increasing the success chance on catching birds and XP when caught. - For example, Crimson Swifts currently have a success chance of 39% at level 1, increasing with your Hunter level. We'll be buffing all birds to start at 75% success chance at their unlock level instead. - There is a concern from some folks that we're removing AFK activities. This absolutely isn't the case, we're just looking to ensure that they are balanced appropriately against the effort, to allow for other more "lean forward" methods to have a place too. - We also updated our [Combat Modernisation Beta](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/combat-styles-improvements---beta-update-2) on Thursday and have continued to take your thoughts about it on board. We've got another week ahead of us with the Beta and will continue to work on the Combat Modernisation update throughout it - there is a chance that we'll update the beta once more this week, but we'll confirm that via a blog post on the day. ##### **The Week Ahead:** - **Regrounding Items** - Part 3 of our Road to Restoration blog series, the "Regrounding Items" project is about making visuals and worn items fit better thematically into the world of RuneScape as we work towards something that is more immersive and consistent with the game. We're planning to preview some of this work on Thursday February 12th, with the associated update coming into effect during the week of the 23rd. - **Aura Overhaul** - Another blog in our Road to Restoration series, we'll be previewing our design direction for how to tackle Aura's this Friday, **February 13th**. Note that the update itself to overhaul Aura's is still some weeks away. ##### **Upcoming Maintenance** Just a quick reminder that we plan to have a short maintenance tomorrow February 10th at 9am UTC which should last for appr _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/537752181137212466]_ ### The Month Ahead - February - Date: 2026-02-02 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/498345050117243935 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-498345050117243935 ##### We're trying something new! As we celebrate RuneScape’s 25th anniversary, this moment isn’t just about reflecting on how far we’ve come, it’s about looking ahead. RuneScape has always evolved alongside its players, and what we’re sharing today marks a defining step in that journey. We’re unveiling our roadmap for the entirety of 2026, along with a brand-new identity for RuneScape, one that honours our heritage while embracing our ambition for the years to come. This new chapter is a symbol of renewal and growth, and of our commitment to delivering meaningful experiences and lasting value in everything we create. This anniversary year represents more than a milestone; it’s a turning point—one that sets RuneScape firmly on course for the future it deserves. And as we continue to evolve across the studio and our games, we do so with a clear purpose: to deliver brilliant content, incredible value, and experiences that are worthy of your time and trust. Check in below to explore everything we have planned for 2026, including our new dedicated integrity roadmap. ##### The Road to Restoration Let’s dive right into it with our new integrity roadmap, aptly named **The Road to Restoration, **a dedicated track of integrity-focused releases running alongside our main 2026 Content Roadmap. With an incredible year ahead, we’re excited to finally share what’s coming throughout 2026 as we give the core RuneScape experience the care and attention it deserves, strengthening its foundations for every player, now and for years to come. Through these updates, we’ll be tackling long-standing challenges like Dailyscape pressure, early- and mid-game skilling balance, visual identity, and much more. But before we dive into that… let’s not forget the other tiny little thing happening today. ##### Treasure Hunter is no more. By the time you’re reading this, **Treasure Hunter will be removed from RuneScape**, and hundreds of gameplay-impacting MTX items will no longer be available for sale. Ending the sale of these items is the first step toward our long-term ambition: removing their presence from the game entirely. Over the course of 2026, players will have the opportunity to use up any existing stockpiles, with additional chances later in the year to clear out anything that remains, before these items are ultimately made obsolete. On top of that, we’re excited to kick off the **Road to Restoration** with three brand-new releases going live today. ##### UI Update - A New Look Starting with the UI, as we unveil a fresh look... This update delivers a familiar UI experience that keeps all the functionality you need, while introducing a cleaner, more classic, and refreshed look throughout. As part of that new visual identity, we’re restoring the stone UI icons and are reintroducing the circular minimap, a small but meaningful nod to the RuneScape many of us grew up with. We’ve also improved the default layout to make it a stronger, more versatile option that works no matter where you are on your RuneScape journey. And this is just the beginning! This update marks the first step in a series of iterative UI improvements, with many more enhancements to come as we continue working closely with all of you to take it even further. ##### Visual Update - Cosmetic Toggle(s) Speaking of visuals, another new introduction is the ability to toggle Cosmetic visuals! This will let you selectively hide other players' worn customisations and their animation customisations, at your discretion. Not a fan of wings...? hide them! Or perhaps you prefer to see what other people are actually wearing... no problem either. All these cosmetic toggles will be released in today's update. And later this year, we'll give you even more toggle options, including hiding other players' summoning familiar customisations. ##### Visual Update - Misthalin & Asgarnia Facelift Last for today, but definitely n _[Truncated at 4000 characters — full notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/170707010027785002]_ ### RuneScape's First ever Leagues: CATALYST Launches September 15 - Date: 2025-09-08 - Original notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1343400/view/511842526981785407 - Permalink: https://whatsnew.fyi/product/runescape/releases/steam-511842526981785407 ##### **RuneScape Leagues : CATALYST** Get ready to rewrite the rules, and bend RuneScape to your will in our first-ever League… **CATALYST! Releasing on September 15** Leagues is a time-limited game mode that lets you start fresh on an alternate version of your character and relive your journey through Gielinor. This is a completely free experience to all Members, with no additional Membership required and no microtransactions. This is the RuneScape you know experienced through a new lens - with sky-high XP rates, game-changing relics, a unique set of tasks to conquer - making your adventure more intense than ever. Before long, you’ll be blazing through levels, toppling the toughest bosses, and unleashing epic game changing powers as you tear through your task list. You’ll need every ounce of skill, knowledge, and determination to master the challenges, rack up points, unlock powerful relics and claim exclusive rewards. ##### **Into the Big Leagues** A** League** is a special limited-time game mode in RuneScape. Those familiar with Old School RuneScape will recognise it as a staple of OSRS since 2019 - but this will be our very first! When it begins, you can create a fresh League character on your account to access dedicated League worlds. This character does not replace your main account or take up a character slot if you’re new to RuneScape and is part of your existing membership. The upcoming League, titled "**CATALYST**," will run from **15th of September** until **10th of November**. During the **CATALYST** League, you’ll take on unique challenges known as **Tasks** and unlock **Relics**, powerful bonuses that reshape and elevate the classic RuneScape experience. You’ll compete on time-limited servers with accelerated XP rates that start at 4X, which only grows stronger as you climb through the Relic tiers. As this is our first-ever League, we’re focused on building strong foundations: creating something thrilling to play today while paving the way for bold new twists in the future. With **CATALYST**, you’ll have access to every region of Gielinor from the very start, giving you complete freedom to focus on what you want and to bring your powerful relics for a full world tour! There is no Treasure Hunter, and player-to-player trading is disabled. In this League you forge your own path. Let's dive right in! ** ** ##### **Tasks - Your Path to Glory** Tasks are your ticket to success in a League season. Tasks are a collection of challenges and achievements that push you to explore every corner of Gielinor. It's a classic positive feedback loop - the more Tasks you conquer, the more League points you’ll rack up and the more impactful Relics tiers you unlock, leading to even more points for even more powerful Relics! Tasks are split into tiers ranging from **Easy** all the way up to **Master **and each one tests your skills in a different way. Easy tasks are quick victories, like cutting down a goblin in Lumbridge, and net you a tidy **10 points** apiece. But at the other end of the spectrum lie the **Master tasks. **These monumental challenges demand dedication, grit, and skill, rewarding your legendary feats with a hefty **400 points** each. These tasks cover every corner of adventure in Gielinor: skilling, hunting rare drops, slaying fearsome creatures, completing epic quests, and diving headfirst into minigames. Combat Mastery Achievements are here. Have you wrecked and ruined your way through the bosses of Gielinor? Ready to flaunt your PvM power level? **Combat Mastery Achievements** are made for players just like you—gain recognition for your PvM prowess by completing new combat-focused tasks. This exciting new achievement system will have you tackling challenges of all difficulties as you take on bosses from 24 years of PvM history. The **Combat Achievements** are split into 6 tiers: **Easy, Medium, Hard, Elite, Master,** and **Grandmaster**! The question is, where will you land? ##### **Where to get started** To get started on this journey you just need to open up your Hero menu (F1) and go to the Achievement tab, here you will find a new section for Combat Mastery and can track your progress and plan out your next goals. You can also head down to War's Retreat to speak with War about Combat Mastery. ##### **How does it work?** Launching with this update is a whole slew of new Combat Achievements alongside several previous achievements being moved into this system. These Achievements are generally split into three main categories: **Kill Speed, Kill Count** and **Mechanical** achievements. - **Kill Speed - Defeat a boss within a timeframe.** - **Kill Count - Defeat a boss a certain number of times** - **Mechanical - Defeat a boss in a specified way such as avoiding being hit by a specific boss mechanic.** Mechanical achievements may be split into two additional achievement subtypes. **Unorthodox** and **Perfect**. - **Unorthodox - Complete the encounter in an 'unorthodox' way, such as not resolving mechanics** - **Perfect - Complete the encounter in a 'perfect' way, such as avoiding all avoidable boss mechanics** Kill times were calculated using boss completion data from the past year. We established breakpoints for each difficulty tier based on our target distribution of players across categories, further refining these with personal experience and insights from our internal team. **Kill count achievements** will be retroactively applied to your account once the update goes live, but **kill speed achievements** will not be retroactive. Keep in mind that current kill times don’t account for the exact number of players in an instance—only that the total number of players was within or below the recommended limit for the encounter. Each achievement will fall into one of the tiers, and you'll accumulate points based on the tier of the achievement you complete : Tier # of tasks Points per task Points in tier Easy 19 1 19 Medium 58 2 116 Hard 173 3 519 Elite 172 4 688 Master 92 5 460 Grandmaster 44 6 264 Total 558 2066 You don’t need to complete the achievements in any particular order—you’re free to tackle previous tiers or jump ahead to the next one. Chart your own path and progress through these achievements as you see fit! As you reach key point thresholds (**19 / 137 / 659 / 1351**), you'll unlock **"War's Blessing"**, a set of passive rewards that will help enhance your combat journey and further empower you as you push forward. ##### War's Blessing Tier 1: - Quick Access to the central Sarcophagus during the Barrows Encounter. - 5% increased chance of activating Reaper's Choice - 1 free attunement for War's boss portals per day - 5% increase to earned Marks of War ##### War's Blessing Tier 2: - No longer require kill count for all God Wars Dungeon encounters (excludes Nex) - Your kill count requirement for all God Wars Dungeon 2 encounters are reduced by 50%. Steel yourselves for self-sufficient 'Scaping, this time with a team of friends by your side! Now's your chance to build a powerful squad of Ironmen and compete for the top spot on the leaderboards. It's a new way to experience Gielinor! Group Ironman launches today and is a fresh spin on the classic Ironman format. Players are self-sufficient, are unable to trade (mostly) and have a DIY attitude towards the game - but now, you'll be working as a team instead of going solo. Group members are able to freely trade tradeable items to each other and have access to Group Storage, a shared Bank which lets you pass around select items that were previously untradeable. You'll be competing for new leaderboard positions in both Competitive and Regular Group Ironman modes. You'll also have the opportunity to earn unique rewards like the Group Ironman Armour, which improves as the group smashes through their Journey Achievements. Want to know more? Check out the Group Ironman Dev Diary, or [our recent blog!](https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/group-ironman-launches-28-oct) If you need a little direction on how to get started, check out the panel below this one for a crash course. Lastly, we'd like to say a big thank you to the entire Group Ironman team. Their dedication, creativity, and collaboration have brought this long-awaited feature to life, and we are looking forward to seeing the whole community come together to experience it. The effort they've all put into this update cannot be understated, from the initial design stages all the way to launch. This is a huge milestone, and none of it would have been possible without each of your contributions. Here's to even more exciting updates in the future! ##### Getting Started To start Group Ironman, you'll need an account which hasn't progressed past character creation. Step 1. Press "Select Game Mode" Step 2. Choose "Group Ironman" Step 3. Customise your character and press "Done" when you're ready to proceed. Step 4. If you want to dive straight into Group Ironman and do not need a tutorial, select "I have played recently". Congratulations! You are now a Group Ironman! Just need to get the group going now... ##### Grouping up Once you're on the Iron Enclave, you can form your group. When you have control of your character, check out the "Create Group" tab - it should pop right up on your screen. Here you will select either "Regular" or "Competitive" mode. Don't worry if you're not sure which one to pick yet - you can change between them while forming the group. Your next challenge is settling on a name! It can be up to 20 characters, but bear in mind that you’ll be unable to pick the same name as an existing Clan, as they share the same name space. Once you have a name and your group mates, you're ready to set out. Remember, your group must be between two and five players, and one of you will have to take on the mantle of leader. Don't fear if all your planned group mates aren't all available at this early stage - you'll be able to add players to your team by returning to the Iron Enclave, so there’s no need to hang around waiting. Join the game and start climbing those HiScores! If you are a current Ironman player, you can head to Lumbridge and use the portal to the Iron Enclave to access the island and start forming or joining a group. Please note that if you are an Iron and wish to become a Group Iron, you will not be able to reverse this decision. ##### The Iron Enclave The Iron Enclave is a new island only available to Iron players. It’s where you’ll form teams and learn the core elements of Group Ironman! You can speak with the Iron Tutor to learn more about the available Game Modes... Check out the Ironman at Group Ironman achievements at the plaque... ... and when you're ready, you can take the Portal to Lumbridge from the northern point of the island. Adventure awaits!
