New Release: Spring is in full bloom and Spiral HQ has been busy with a bouquet of big changes:

Forge:

We've made some changes to the forge system to make it more friendly to newer knights and lower the cost of leveling your gear!

All forging attempts, regardless of the crystal option you pick, will be successful! We believe this will be a more enjoyable experience for most players. When an item is ready to be leveled and you use the forge, your item is guaranteed to level up. You can always opt to add more crystals if you want to have a chance at some fun bonuses. So, if all you want is to level up your item, you'll now want to use the lowest crystal cost option. This option is selected by default.

To balance out the above change, the bonuses you can get for the different crystal cost levels have changed.

  • Minimum level of crystal use: You are now guaranteed to be successful! You will not have a chance at extra bonuses.

  • Medium level of crystal use: The chance of bonuses has been increased compared to what it was before this change.

  • Maximum level of crystal use: The chance of bonuses has been increased even more compared to what it was before this change.

System Upgrade:

We've released a second batch of very large back-end changes. Like the previous changes, these are part of our continuing effort to modernize the game. This represents quite a lot of work behind the scenes, but should help the game run better for players. Thank you all for your patience while we've been tinkering under the hood.

Full details on all the changes in the release can be found on our (https://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/125196).

Petal To The Metal!

This spring the biotech specialists at Spiral HQ have discovered various uses for the pollen and fast growing plants beyond uncontrollable sneezing. They’ve created some botanical gear to help knights blend into technicolor surroundings and leaf their foes in disarray.

Help your camouflage skills blossom by picking up a FlowerTech Mk II Prize Box to discover gear and accessories in a new bouquet of colors - Tech Red, Tech Violet, Tech Yellow, and Tech Azure. This isn’t your garden variety gear, this organic gear includes items like Tech Azure Virulent Seedlings, Tech Violet Pollinators, Seedling Samples, and other botanical accessories. More details on this bouquet of gear can be found on our forums.

Super Brawl n' More!

As part of our Anniversary celebrations, we'd like to give you a look at what we've been up to. Spiral HQ has been toiling away in the Clockworks to create a lot of exciting new changes!

  • Created a brand new PvP mode. Super Brawl is a new free-for-all combat mode for up to eight knights — no teams, no classes, just you and your own gear in fast-paced five-minute rounds.

  • We've released a level editor, The Coliseum Crucible. Players can now create PvP levels that can eventually be added to the game. The level editor is constantly being updated to increase its functionality.

  • We've updated the server and client Java to modernize and and allow it to run better with less lag. This is represents incredibly large amount of work that should improve your game-play.

  • We've added new servers for different regions - Australia and Brazil.

  • Added new accessory slots so you can personalize your look even more than before.

  • Added a lot of Quality of Live changes. Below are just some of these changes:

  • Increased the amount of memory the game tries to use.

  • Added an “Abandon Party” prompt setting so knights can turn off those popups.

  • Created new commands for moving around town quickly. These only work for knights who have already reached Haven.

  • /readyroom (/rr) will go to your ready room

  • /haven (/hh) will go to your last town scene

  • /townsquare (/ts)

  • /bazaar

  • /garrison

  • /arcade

  • /guildhall (/gh)

  • /auction (/ah)

  • /alchemy (/craft)

  • /punch (/uv)

  • /vise (/unbind)

  • /bechamel (/accessory)

  • Added a preference for UI scaling. The scale selection is saved per screen resolution so that if you regularly change between fullscreen and windowed, both scales are saved.

  • Added a preference for the chat text size.

  • Added a preference for controlling the size of the chat area.

  • Added new gate icons for deconstruction zones, and to differentiate different compound wilds levels.

  • Searching for an accessory in your inventory will find it on armors or helms.

  • The attack speed buff in Frenzied Firestorm has a unique icon now.

  • Buffed the damage of Catalyzer, Industrial Catalyzer, Volatile Catalyzer, and Neutralizer.

  • Fix Vanaduke: dousing an already-extinguished mask no longer deals damage to knights.

Right now we're celebrating our anniversary, so it's the perfect time to check out these changes while picking up cake slices to obtain the newly released shield. Gear up and join us in the Clockworks!

Shades of Grey and the Style Kit Update

Greetings Knights!

In an effort to make it easier to give your knight the best look, the gremlins at Spiral HQ have created a Style Kit. Now you can easily swap between appearance modifiers (personal colors, eyes, and height) once you have added them to your Kit.

  • Access your Style Kit through the knight portrait in the upper left of the screen.

  • Once you have your kit, any modifier you use will be added to that kit.

  • You can swap between items you have used using the menu for a small fee. The fee is to help prevent people from spamming public areas with changes and would distracting to other players.

  • Vatel will now offer to sell height modifiers.

  • Modifiers you have previously used will not be added, only those you use after this point.

With fall here and knights using their Style Kits, Haven is bursting with color. But once a knight descends into the Clockworks their decisions aren't black and white, they're somewhere in the Grey. With this in mind, Spiral HQ has put together a box for knights with singular tastes.

Starlight Cradle Update

Rise and shine Knights!

Grab your favorite caffeinated beverage and take a look at some of the changes and new additions you’ll find in the game:

Starlight Cradle levels can be found in T2 and T3.

  • These levels are part of normal gate rotation, not a new mission set.
  • These levels may contain a drowsy Sloom, the fearsome Sloombargo, and other slimes.
  • You may also stumble across some optional danger rooms that will give you a run for your money.
  • Gates will be cycled after release so that some starlight cradle levels are immediately available.
  • Zee cores will now drop from these levels and can be used in the crafting of some new gear (see below).

Reintroduction of the “sleep” status.

  • This has been reworked.
  • Sleep will render a victim completely unresponsive until woken.
  • Because sleep can be rejuvenating, you may notice a small (and limited) heal upon waking up.
  • If you find yourself asleep and vulnerable, look to a party member to wake you up with “gentle” poke of a bullet or blade.
  • Remedy should wake you from sleep. Think of it as a dose of caffeine.
  • After sleep you will acquire an 'alert' status that protects you from sleep for a few moments.

New Helms and Armor

  • Padded Demo Helm
  • Padded Demo Suit
  • Padded Hunting Cap
  • Padded Hunting Coat
  • Quilted Demo Helm
  • Quilted Demo Suit
  • Quilted Hunting Cap
  • Quilted Hunting Coat
  • Starlit Demo Helm
  • Starlit Demo Suit
  • Starlit Hunting Cap
  • Starlit Hunting Coat

New Weapons

  • Advanced Cautery Sword
  • Amputator
  • Slumber Smogger
  • Slumber Smogger Mk II
  • Slumber Squall
  • Torpor Tantrum

Knight Statues are now available.

  • If Bechamel is installed in a guild, she will now sell knight statues of knights for energy. When in Haven, Bechamel will not offer to sell statues.
  • Statues are a furniture item depicting your knight wearing what you wore when you purchased it.
  • There are multiple sizes of statues to purchase.
  • Warning: Review all parts of the statute carefully in the preview window. There are no refunds for mistaken wardrobe choices or refunds if a particular accessory or aura does not display correctly.
  • A guild may only have 8 statues placed in their hall at any given time.
  • You may need to ‘publish’ your guild hall to get the new option from Bechamel.

Additional Changes:

  • Guild officers and above can sell materials in their treasury to birdsong for half the normal price. This should help guilds clear unwanted items from their inventory.

  • In Lockdown, the Guardian’s shield now has more health.

  • A few changes to the chat filter to remove ‘Gay’ and ‘muff’. Be aware that it is still against the Terms of Service to use any of these words in a derogatory fashion and we will take action accordingly.

  • Fixed some issues with placing furniture near the entrance of a guild hall.

  • Fixed a small graphics glitch in Firestorm Citadel, Charred Court.

Diamond Hardcore: Fortress

Greetings Knights!

Adventurous knights are constantly under pressure in the Clockworks. Few substances have the strength to handle it like Diamond. What better way to prove that than to use it as armor? As an added bonus, you’ll be able to blind your enemy with its flawless brilliance.

This month Spiral HQ will start the process of completing the gem sets for those who were waiting for a specific month.

The Diamond Prize Box contains items such as:

  • Diamond Aura

  • Floating Diamonds

  • Diamond Disciple Wings

  • Diamond Crown

  • Diamond Wolver Tail

  • Diamond Cat Tail

  • Diamond Costume and Accessories

More information on the Diamond Prize Box and its contents may be found (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Diamond_Prize_Box_Promotion_April_2017).

As an added bonus, Spiral HQ has decided it’s time to toss another challenge your way. Based on feedback, we’ve decided to make a few changes and release another map. To that end, we’ve asked our gremlin engineer to prepare the following changes to lockdown this weekend:

  • New Map: Fortress. Fortress is a small castle arena filled with fire pots and littered with fire safety memos. Like other new maps, you will have a higher likelihood of seeing it now, however it will remain in the game after the event is over.

  • Control points once again have obstacles that will cause both teams a number of problems including status effects. Be on the lookout for new hazards!

  • Auto-Target is off.

Side note: Below are a few of the rejected names for the new map. Some were rejected for obvious reasons.

  • Book Burner

  • Cookin’ the Books

  • Page Burner

  • Bonfire of the Vanities

  • Pyromance Novels

  • THE ROOF THE ROOF... wait there's a roof?

  • Why use my level 10 weapons when I can toss a pot?!

Spiral Knights Anniversary Celebration

Spiral Knights is SIX years old! Happy Birthday Spiral Knights!

Come help us celebrate Spiral Knights' birthday!

Help Biscotti, the Skylark's Head Chef, avoid disaster in two special missions - Total Caketastrophe and A Gremlin in Knead. Fight Creep Cakes and Batterbots to earn Cake Slice tokens, then visit Maskwell in Haven Town Square to exchange your tokens for:

  • Cake helms
  • Anniversary Prize Boxes
  • Other party accessories

Lucky knights may also stumble upon a Casino and find cake tokens among the other prizes on the wheel.

Today through April 17, 2017: Spiral HQ has assembled prize boxes from the past year together into a Surprise Box. When you open a Surprise Box, you will randomly receive a past prize box and confetti. There is also a chance to find a Stately Cap costume helm! For details on this box and its contents, visit the wiki (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Surprise_Box_Promotion_April_2017).

Thank you all so much for playing Spiral Knights! We've had a busy year at Grey Havens setting up a new home for Cradle. We're excited that we're now able to focus more on the development of the game.

This year has seen the addition of the Casino, new items for guild halls, new PvP modes, new events, new items, various bug fixes, and a few new PvP maps. It's our hope that next year brings even more from our gremlin engineers who are already hard at work.

Hardcore Mode - Pipeline!

Greetings Knights,

Spiral HQ isn’t quite finished with you ambitious knights yet! Based on feedback, we’ve decided that one new map simply isn’t enough. To that end, we’ve asked our gremlin to help engineer the following changes to lockdown this weekend:

  • New Map: Pipeline. This is a poison themed level to thwart knights who are ill-prepared. This map will still be available after the event is over, but will be seen fairly often for a while.

  • Auto-Target is off.

  • Control points once again have obstacles that will cause both teams a number of problems including status effects. You might even spot a new hazard!

Side note: On a Rocket Puppy map, be prepared to run from a hidden recon knight misdirecting rockets towards your face.

A Hazardous Spring Equinox

Hail, knights!

The cosmos briefly swings into balance--just in time for you to take on a new challenge! First, Spiral HQ is upping the challenge this weekend for this Hardcore Lockdown Event. Please expect the following changes this weekend:

  • New Map: Icebox. This is a freeze themed level with some knight-controllable traps. This map will still be available after the event is over, but will be seen fairly often for a while.

  • Auto-Target is off.

  • Control points now have even more obstacles that will cause both teams a number of problems. Some of these problems will be more insurmountable than others.

  • Bug Fix: Orbital hazards now deal their proper status effects.

To mark this occasion, the Strangers have brought forth celestially-themed offerings in the Spring Equinox Prize Box, available to you through March 24th, 2017:

  • Celestial Vortex

  • Celestial Saber

  • Orbit Aura

  • Celestial Nav Helm and Suit

  • Galactic Guardian Helm and Vest

  • Solar and Cosmic Plasma Wings

  • Celestial Dragon/Valkyrie Wings

  • Celestial Accessories

  • Unique Variant Tickets

If all of this leaves you wanting to adopt a buddy who always has your back (or front); keep an eye out for (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Nonna) near the Haven fountain!
