Heroes!

We have a lovely update for you guys! Today’s patch is live now, and brings a bunch of balance changes, mostly aimed at improving the weapons that have been struggling for a while, which hopefully gives you guys a bigger breadth of viable options to play with! Alongside that, there’s some minor tweaks, quality of life changes, and several bug fixes.

Weapon balance update

The intentions of this balance patch is to bring some love to underused or underperforming weapons, mostly focusing on buffs, but some adjustments can be found in relation to the buffs.

Before getting into weapon specifics. We would like to bring to light two major broad focus points of this patch:

First, one-handed weapons’ main boon is their mobility compared to heavier weapons, but it's not quite enough. To amplify this niche even more, you will see buffs across the board to their dodging capabilities and in some cases reduction to movement speed penalties during attacks.

Secondly, Axe-like weapons have always had a niche of being a weapon type that boasts great single target damage and armor penetration, in exchange for a lack of cleave. However the trade off has been too harsh for how Vermintide truly plays, and in some cases even the single target damage has been lacking compared to other weapons.

So across the board you will see changes that allow Axe-like weapons to handle multiple enemies ever so slightly better (without removing it as a weakness) and in some cases having their single target damage bumped up to bridge the gap between them and other great single target weapons of today.

With that said, let's get into the fun stuff:

Cross-Character Weapons:

**1H Sword: **(Kruber/Sienna)

  • Reduced slowdown on Light attacks.

  • PA chains into either L3 or H1 instead of only L1

  • Increase Dodge Range

Alongside the mobility buffs for 1 Handed weapons, the One-Handed Sword has gotten a change to its attack pattern.

Now the push attack follow up can chain into Light 3 or Heavy 1, allowing you to pick if you want to chain into a multi-target attack or a single target attack depending on the situation.

**1H Axe: **(Bardin/Salzpyre)

  • Light Attacks now use a speed up/slow down Movement Speed curve. On average the Movement speed slowdown during attacks has been reduced.

  • L1/L2 slightly increased Cleave

  • L3 slightly bigger increase to Cleave

  • H1/H2 increased Damage to Armored

  • H1/H2 increased Damage to Super Armor

  • Increase Dodge Range

The 1H axe is meant to be mobile and have great single target damage for its size, but in-comparison to other weapons its damage has been slightly lacking against Armored Targets. In addition to the damage buffs, the light attacks have been given the same style of movement as dual axes / axe & falchion. It will feel slightly different to use than before but will also (on average) be slightly faster while attacking.

**1H Hammer / 1H Mace: **(Kruber/Bardin/Salzpyre)

  • Increased Block Radius.

  • Increased number of Effective Dodges (aka Dodge Count)

Hammers and Maces have traditionally been more competitive compared to other 1H weapons, but still in today's standard could use something. So to amplify that they are the mobile yet tanky 1 handed option, their dodge count and effective block radius has been slightly buffed.

Kruber:

Blunderbuss:

  • Increased Damage to Armored

  • Increased Damage to Monsters

Shotguns sometimes don't kill when they feel like they should. So a slight buff into Armored damage and Monster damage should allow them to more often deal with Hookrats and Stormvermins appropriately.

Longbow:

  • Reduced wait time before Auto Zoom happens

The Longbow’s Autozoom used to occur when the arrow reached max damage. This timing can be quite disruptive while trying to aim, as such it's been moved much closer to the start of the aiming processes. Zooming is now finished just as the arrow is about to reach max damage.

Bardin:

War Pick:

  • Attacks can no longer be interrupted by Damage during wind-up

  • New Attack: Heavy 3. Only accessible from L2 → H3 (uncharged)

  • Horizontal Sweep

  • Same Damage as L1/L2

  • Can Cleave a few Armored enemies

  • Higher Stagger than L1/L2

  • Increased Stagger Duration

  • Breaks Shields

  • Light Attacks now use a speed up/slow down Movement Speed curve. On average the Movement speed slowdown during attacks has been reduced.

  • L1/L2 increased Damage to Armored

  • L1/L2 increased Damage to Super Armor

  • L1/L2/H3 increased Crit Chance

  • H1/H2 (Uncharged) increased Damage to Armored

  • H1/H2 (Uncharged) increased Damage to Super Armor

  • H1/H2 (Uncharged) increased Base Stagger

  • H1/H2 (Charged) increased Damage to Armored

  • H1/H2 (Charged) increased Sprint Duration

  • H1/H2 (Charged) slightly reduced Sprint Speed

  • H1/H2 (Charged) now ignores Shield

  • PA slightly increased Cleave

The War Pick is an interesting weapon with its charged heavy, however the uncharged heavy has been nerfed too harshly to amplify the usefulness of the charged heavy. Making the weapon hard to justify as a main hand weapon and mostly brought as secondary for Slayer.

Alongside the overarching axe changes, the single target damage of the uncharged Heavy has been significantly brought up to make it a useful attack in situations where charging the Heavy is not possible.

A new Attack has been added. The intention with the new attack is to give the War Pick a bit of nuance to its attack patterns while disrupting muscle memory as little as possible. Keeping the Light and Heavy spam the same as before, while adding in some new chains between lights and heavies. The new attack should allow for more horde control with the Light 2 → Heavy 3 loop, while also with its increased stagger duration, serve as a way to set up for a follow up single target heavy (Heavy 3 → Heavy 2).

To not completely remove the option of a Single target hit after Light 2, you can still charge past the new attack and chain into Heavy 1 Charged.

As the War Pick is intended to be a powerful but slow and immobile weapon, it really shines when combining it with Attack Speed buffs, which is why it is commonly better in the hands of Slayer than other Bardin careers. To bridge the gap between the careers, Light 1/2 & Heavy 3 now have increased crit chance to allow for more uptime when using Swift Slaying weapon trait. This should narrow the gap between Slayer and other Bardin Careers as Slayer could already have the Swift Slaying buff up most of the time.

The War Pick has always been able to break shields, however we could lean into this identity even more. The fully charged Heavies 1/2 now ignores shields while the new Heavy 3 can break multiple wooden shields with its horizontal sweep.

Axe & Shield:

  • L1/L2/PA slight Cleave increase

  • L1/L2/L3 reduced Movement Speed slowdown

  • L3/H3 increased Headshot Damage

  • H3 increased Damage to Armored

  • H3 increased Damage to Super Armor

  • Push attack now has 20% increased Crit

To allow the Axe part of the weapon to shine through more, the single target attacks (Light 3 / Heavy 3) are now similar to or mirror the 1H axe’s damage. As these attacks are not spammable the weapon won’t have the same damage output as the 1H axe, but should now be capable of handling some tougher enemies on its own.

The Light Attack chain had a much steeper movement speed slowdown compared to the Heavy attack chain, as such the slow during the Light attack chain has been reduced to make it more in line with the Heavy attack chain.

Grudge Raker:

  • Increased Damage to Armored

  • Increased Damage to Monsters

  • Increased Max Carry Ammo

Shotguns sometimes don't kill when they feel like they should. So a slight buff into Armored damage and Monster damage should allow them to more often deal with Hookrats and Stormvermins appropriately.

Throwing Axes:

  • Slayer Passive “Trophy Hunter” no longer works on Ranged Weapons

  • Reduced Wait Time before first Reload occurs

  • Reduced Movement Speed Slow while Reloading

  • Increased Damage to Berzerker

  • Increased Damage to Monsters

  • Increased Headshot Damage

  • Increased Base Max Ammo

  • Charged Throw: Now reaches further before Damage drop-off starts

Slayers Passive “Trophy Hunter” has been changed to only work with Melee weapons. (This change only excludes throwing axes). The intention here is to streamline Throwing Axe’s damage between careers, making it usable on both Ranger Veteran and Slayer.

To make up for the loss in damage from Slayer’s Passive, the weapon has got a substantial increase to headshot damage and some extra Berzerker & Monster damage to improve efficiency on higher difficulties.

“Reloading” throwing axes should be a window of vulnerability, but the slowdown has been a bit too punishing for Ranger Veteran. Alongside this weapon also technically being a 1H weapon, the wait time and movement speed slowdown has both been reduced slightly.

Base Max Ammo has been increased to an even number as without headshots most enemies take two hits to kill, thus making it line up better with ammo count.

To give Charged Throw a place other than slightly increasing Cleave. Now, when charged, the axe reaches further before damage drop-off starts. This allows the increased projectile speed and smoother trajectory of the charge throw to have more of a meaning as it can now kill on longer ranges. This is intended as a fun change, but also a change that will reward mastery of the weapon, allowing players to go for difficult long range shots.

Drakefire Pistols:

  • Single Shot: Now applies 2 Ticks of Burn instead of 1

  • Single Shot: Slight Increase to Base Damage

  • Single Shot: Slight Damage reduction to Monsters

Drakefire Pistols has been lacking in its single target DPS against Elites and Specials.

So to play into its burning identity, the burn duration on regular shots has been increased allowing the weapon to stack more burns on its target. However to avoid this weapon going too overboard with boss damage, the base damage towards monsters has been slightly reduced.

Kerillian:

One-handed Sword:

  • H2 changed from a Single target → Multi-target attack

  • Heavy 1/2/3 reduced minimum charge time

  • Increase Dodge Range

A requested change has been to revert the Heavy 2 attack back to a multi-target attack from a single target attack. So now you can once again chain Heavy 2 into Light 1 (looping) to deal with hordes.

Kerillian’s one-handed sword is meant to be a versatile, nimble weapon that doesn’t pack as much of a punch as dedicated single-target weapons. However, its heavy attacks were a bit too slow for the low damage. To improve them without sacrificing the identity, the heavy attacks were also sped up slightly.

Greatsword:

  • Reduced time between H1 → H1 attack chain

  • H1 Movement slowdown on is now gradual instead of instant

  • H2 changed from Heavy Single Target Attack → Heavy Multi-target Attack

The Elven 2H sword has always been a unique weapon but kind of awkward to use optimally.

To make the experience smoother overall, the Heavy 1 chain has been sped up to make QQ/Block canceling not mandatory anymore and the movement speed slowdown gradual instead of an instant drop to 20%.

The 2nd Heavy attack has been reworked, it used to be a horizontal attack boasting high single target headshot damage with little to no cleave. As you can chain Heavy 1 into itself indefinitely, this type of follow up is not what the weapon chain needs. So it has been transformed into a cleaving multi-target attack that can stagger hordes and armored enemies alike.

Elven Axe:

  • L1/L2/PA slightly increased cleave.

  • L1/L2 Reduced slowdown during attack

  • L3/L4/PA added slight lunge movement.

  • L3/L4 increased Damage to Armored

  • L3/L4 increased Damage to Super Armor

  • H1/H2 increased Damage to Armored

  • H1/H2 increased Damage to Super Armor

  • H1/H2 increased Damage to Monster

  • PA removed additional crit

  • Increase Dodge Range

In addition to amplifying the movement and damage of the elven axe, it has been given some new movement curves for its Light 3, Light 4 and push follow up attack.

With the addition of cleave on the push attack, it is no longer a single target damage move and the angle isn't steep enough to lock the attack out from headshotting. As such the crit chance boost has been removed.

Elven Spear:

  • L1/L2/L4/H2 adjusted hit window & hitbox

These changes should make landing headshots when aiming at the head with stab attacks more consistent. But keep in mind as the attacks are slightly slimmer, it’s also easier to miss completely.

Hagbane Shortbow:

  • Charged shot: Poison explosion now applies poison to Armored targets in the AoE.

  • Increased Max Ammo

Hagbane’s niche is dealing with hordes, but it could only poison armored targets on direct hit. Now the explosion will also poison armored enemies, making it better in mixed horde situations.

As the Hagbane tends to need quite a few arrows to do its job, it got a buff to its Max Ammo to allow careers that lack ammo increasing talents/perks to use the weapon as well.

Swiftbow:

  • Hipfire: Increased Cleave

  • Charged Shot: Increased Cleave

  • Charged Shot: Increased Headshot Damage

  • Increased Max Ammo

The Swiftbow does accelerate in its speed, but is lacking a bit too much in the damage department, this buff should make it both better at horde clearing and sniping specials.

Same as Hagbane, as the Swiftbow tends to need quite a few arrows to do its job, it got a buff to its Max Ammo to allow careers that lack ammo increasing talents/perks to use the weapon.

Volley Crossbow: (Shade)

  • Single shot: Now uses same bullet spread as Saltzpyre's Volley Crossbow

  • Burst shot: Now has an even spread between each bolt

  • Burst shot: Total spread between bolts has been reduced

  • Single shot: Increased Base Damage

  • Burst shot: Increased Base Damage

Some adjustments have been done to the “bullet” spread on the volley crossbow.

The Hipfire “bullet” spread could randomly shoot quite far to the sides, making a perfectly aimed shot by the player miss quite substantially. As such it now shares the more accurate bullet spread of Saltzpyres Volley Crossbow Hipfire.

The Multishot “bullet” spread always shot the 1st bolt accurately, then a big jump aim punch happened between first and 2nd bolt, then the 3rd bolt hit basically the same spot as bolt 2. Now all three bolts are evenly spread and in total all inside a smaller spread.

Base damage has been slightly increased to improve efficiency on higher difficulties.

Saltzpyre:

Falchion:

  • Reduced Chain time between PA → L1

  • Increase Dodge Range

  • Increased number of Effective Dodges (aka Dodge Count)

Alongside the universal buff to 1H Mobility, we gave it a small quality of life buff to the unnaturally slow follow up between Push Attack → Light 1.

Axe & Falchion:

  • L1 slightly increased Cleave

The Axe & Falchion is already a great weapon, this change is only for consistency’s sake regarding universal changes to axe attack cleave.

Volley Crossbow:

  • Single Shot: Increased Headshot Damage

  • Multishot: Increased Horizontal Spread between the 3 Bolts

  • Multishot: Increased Stagger to Armored

  • Increased Max Ammo

  • Slightly increased Reload Speed

Compared to the damage of the regular Crossbow, the Volley Crossbows sniping capabilities don't match up. Improved Headshot damage should bridge the gap between them for skilled players.

Multishot’s niche is hordes/mixed hordes, it already had the damage but could very easily get overrun if there was even one armored unit in the horde. With some extra Stagger towards Armored and a slightly wider hit area it should be able to handle mixed hordes even better.

A slight bump to Max Ammo that won’t mean much on its own, but it will allow Bountyhunter to sustain his ammo slightly better when using Scrounger weapon trait.

Repeater Pistol:

  • Bullet spread resets faster

  • Reduced Base Bullet Spread for every movement type (Standing, Walking, Crouching, Crouch Walking)

  • Increased Bullet Spread gain per shot

  • Slightly increased Base Damage

  • Increased Headshot Damage

  • Increased Damage to Armored

  • Increased Close Range Damage to Berzerkers

  • Increased Close Range Damage to Monsters

The Repeater Pistol essentially has three modes, spray and pray, sniping and the shotgun blast. Changes have been made to the bullet spread and headshot damage to bump the weapons sniping capabilities without altering the other two too much.

With reduced bullet spread on the initial bullet, a quicker reset, and bigger bullet spread increase per shot, tap shooting should be more accurate than before while keeping the spray and pray just as inaccurate as before.

This along with some damage buffs should help the weapon with taking on specials and elites better on the short to mid ranges, but won’t excel like the crossbows in long range sniping as it quite quickly reaches its damage drop of range.

Sienna:

Crowbill:

  • L2 / L3 slightly increased Cleave

  • H1 & H2 increased Cleave.

  • H1 & H2 slightly reduced Base Damage

  • H3 increased Headshot Damage

  • PA slightly increased Cleave

As Crowbill heavy attacks are slower and feel like they have power behind them than other axes horizontal attacks, It’s been given the biggest cleave buff but in-exchange for a slight damage nerf to those attacks. However as the 3rd Heavy is an upper diagonal attack, it has a good angle to go for headshots, As such its been left without a cleave buff and instead amplified its headshot damage to make it a stronger single target attack.

Scythe:

  • Weapon Special Attack now applies Burn a non-stacking Burn

FREE New Map: The Well of Dreams - Live now! Skulls In-game Event - Patch 6.6.0

Heroes!

It’s time to shed some blood and harvest some skulls! Today’s update marks the start of this year’s Skulls in-game event, alongside double XP, the release of our newest level, tons of bug fixes, and a mix of updates and tweaks that include Quality of Life changes, minor balance changes, and some improvements to the Bots’ AI logic!

Skulls for the Skull Throne

And blood for the Blood God! Starting today until June 1st, the Skulls for the Skull throne in-game event will be active! Collect skulls while playing Vermintide 2 to complete challenges, but beware of the power that comes with it; drawing the Blood God’s attention too much might spell doom if you can’t keep up the carnage for long…

Completing the event challenges will earn you a brand new portrait frame!
Community challenge: 400 million kills!

For the duration of the event, each enemy you slay in Vermintide 2 will increase the kill counter! If the community can reach the target of 400 million kills in that time frame, you will all unlock a new set of Crimson illusions for the following weapons:

  • Kruber’s Halberd

  • Slayer Bardin’s Dual Axes

  • Kerillian’s Spear

  • Saltzpyre’s Volley Crossbow

  • Sienna’s Flamestorm Staff You can check the status of the kill counter (https://www.vermintide.com/counter).

Event shop: Previous years’ rewards!

Lohner’s shop has once again opened up with the goodies from years past! If you’ve missed the reward from previous Skulls for the Skull Throne Vermintide 2 events, you can grab them for shillings here for as long as the event lasts!

Keep in mind that this year’s rewards can only be obtained by completing the challenge!

New map: The Well of Dreams

Alongside the Skulls event, this update brings you a FREE new map: **The Well of Dreams! **

This map is the conclusion of the Verminous Dreams campaign! Race against time through the Warlord’s stronghold, the Skaven-infested temple of Athel Lithri, to stop the verminous scheme and the dangers of what they could do with a Warp Bomb if they manage to make use of the Well of Dreams! If such a thing exists…

Quality of Life improvements

Patch 6.6.0 also brings some features and tweaks based on the feedback we’ve received over time! For starters, we’re chipping away at the issues with Bots underperforming, and this update has seen an improvement on the bots’ ability to stick with the team and revive players.

Additionally, you now have the option to purge unwanted boons in Chaos Wastes by selecting them in Holseher’s map in between Pilgrimage missions. No more getting punished for randomly getting a boon that cripples your Wastes’ build!

And finally, for a bit of flair, the victory screen in Adventure missions has been revamped with a glorious parade shot of our successful heroes! Soak in each victory, it’s well earned! Your Hero will be posed in your currently equipped Weapon Pose.

Without further ado…

Patch 6.6.0 patch notes
Balance changes
  • Temporary Health changes: This patch sees a lot of changes to how Temporary HP talents are handled in the game. The aim is to balance the talents against one another and make them more well-rounded, while also finding room for more focused playstyles that use them to their full potential.

  • All classes have had the third talent on the first row replaced from the Heal Share talent to a Temporary Health talent.

  • Heal Share is now a necklace trait. It has replaced Hand of Shallya.

  • All four Temporary Health talents have been renamed to have a unified naming scheme across all careers (similar to Stagger talents.)

  • The talent that gives Temporary Health based on amount of enemies hit is now named 'Carve'

  • The talent that gives Temporary Health based on critical hits and headshots is now named 'Sting'

  • The talent that gives Temporary Health based on stagger is now named 'Second Wind'

  • The talent that gives Temporary Health upon killing an enemy is now named 'Execute'

  • Carve: Hitting enemies beyond the cap of 5 now grants half THP instead of 0.

  • Execute: The amount of health received has been adjusted on a per enemy basis. In general, Skaven enemies should give more THP than before, while Chaos enemies should give less than before. Chaos still gives more THP than Skaven overall, but the differences are not as pronounced.

  • Sting: This Temporary Health talent was rebalanced fairly recently, and has therefore not seen any changes in this patch, apart from getting a new name.

  • Second Wind: Decreased the amount of Temporary Health gained from staggers, based on stagger strength. Weak staggers were reduced more than strong staggers.

  • Second Wind: Attacks that kill the enemy now give THP, using the minimum possible stagger value.

  • Sister of the Thorn's Deepwood Staff lift on Chaos Warriors with Shields now last 4 seconds instead of 8.

Features & Tweaks
  • BOT Changes

  • Zealots will now be healed by bots when they are on their last wound.

  • Bots will prioritize reviving at maximum interaction distance rather than trying to stand on top of the player

  • Bots will sometimes attempt reviving while being targeted by enemies. Threat level by enemies targeting them, as well as their own revive speed is taken into consideration.

  • Bots will check for other players to follow if the player they are following hasn't moved for 20 seconds.

  • Enabled the Skulls event, including double XP, Lohner's time-limited event shop, 400 million kills counter, and new Event challenges at Okri's.

  • Chaos Wastes changes:

  • Loot rats now have a chance to drop Pilgrim's coins.

  • Obtaining a boon that is part of a Boon Set now increases the likelyhood of other pieces of the set showing up.

  • You can now view all of your current boons on the Pilgrimage Map.

  • You can also 'purge' individual boons to remove them while on the Pilgrimage Map.

  • Added 27 new Weapon Illusions of Bitter Dreams as Weekly Expedition rewards!*

  • Added a brand new victory screen for non-Versus matches!

  • Added new Pactsworn conversations in Versus.

  • Swapped one of the armours on display on a mannequin at Lohner's Emporium.

  • Added more information to the error message for players who are temporarily or permanently banned from the game.

  • Tweaked the new killstreak voice lines so that they don't show up as responses to previous banter and conversations.

  • Added new banter voice lines and conversations for missing with a bomb. Can't let those get old, hehehe.

  • Added several Packmaster voicelines from Versus to Adventure!

  • Added the ability to join a friend's Cataclysm games via Steam or Lobby Browser even without owning Winds of Magic.

  • Necromancer skeletons no longer rotate mid attack when commanded to attack a new target, instead they properly follow through with their current attack before switching.

  • Necromancer skeletons now much less prone to stopping early in their running attacks, attacking nothing. Skeletons are now better at attacking enemies that are running away from them. Nothing escapes from death! Or so I've heard.

  • Re-sanctioned the following mods:

  • Bestiary

  • Armory

Fixes
  • Chaos Wastes - Made Belakor locusts much less prone to fail to spawn the Shadow Warrior. Added fallback to immediately spawn the crystal if the shadow warrior fails to spawn.

  • This fixes a softlock where the champion never spawned in some situations.

  • Fixed the 'Being shot at by a Ratling gunner and being turned into Bögenhafen cheese, send help' voicelines not triggering. Heroes will now (sometimes) call out that they are being targeted.

  • Versus - Fixed wrong text on Pactsworn 'Cover Me' social wheel option.

  • Fixed a crash when joining a Custom Versus Game from an Adventure Keep, and then going to a Versus Keep.

  • Fixed issue with gap at neck on Kerillian's Atylwyth Chanter's Robe when using headgear with balaclavas.

  • Fixed the Grail Knight's "'tis but a scratch!" challenge.

  • Fixed the "In the line of fire" challenge.

  • Fixed the Sister of the Thorn's "Shall not pass" challenge. Now triggers off of hit instead of kill.

  • Fixed a visual bug where materials for upgrading overlapped in the weapon inspect menu in certain conditions.

  • Versus - Fixed a bug where the host Custom Games could see the enemy team's social wheel commands.

  • Fixed a bug where the "Dazh's Peculiar Mirth" boon could permanently stay active if two elites are killed at the same time. Cheeky buggers.

  • Fixed Warrior Priest players entering a crouch animation even though they are not crouching, if they block using the hammer & shield and then swap to another weapon.

  • Versus - TAB menu in now displays the Versus level information instead of the Adventure level information

  • Versus - Fixed a bug in Custom Games where the host player gets soft locked if trying to quit the game while with players from other keeps connected to it.

  • Fixed a bug where the Huntsman exit stealth/surge sound plays on every attack while the surge effect from the ability is active, instead of just the first attack.

  • Fixed a bug where the example text beneath the subtitle font size setting gets cut off in certain languages.

Heroes!

Another year has passed and Vermintide 2 celebrates its 7th anniversary! It’s time to party and go out drinking with our heroes across the ruined streets of Helmgart looking for that one last casket of Bugman’s, and fight whatever nasty Skaven or Rotblood dares to interrupt!

The event will last from today until March 16!

A Quiet Drink & new Portrait Frame

As always, head over to the Weekly Event game mode in the Adventure mission selection menu to enter the event mission, ‘A Quiet Drink’. Completing the event with any difficulty will reward you with a brand-new anniversary portrait frame!

Make sure to check the Event tab in Okri’s Challenges!

Double XP

For the duration of the anniversary event, all XP gains will be doubled! Time to max out those Heroes, get extra levels, and grind Versus Ranks!

New Versus Map - A Grudge Served Cold

As mentioned in our previous dev blog, we’ve turned another Adventure into a playable Versus Map: ‘A Grudge Served Cold’! Heroes and Pactsworns alike will get to duke it out in these snowy vistas and through the dwarfen corridors. As always, the Versus version of the map has seen some adjustments to make it fit Versus better, including new objectives and changes to sections of the level. This Versus level takes 3 rounds to complete!

Regarding the loss of data issue

A portion of our player base suffered some serious loss of data & progression on their accounts on the day of Versus’ launch. It took us a while, but by now the brunt of those issues has been solved and reverted. As an apology for the inconvenience, we’ve added a new portrait frame to the game as compensation, the ‘Abasement’ frame!

This portrait frame will be awarded to all of those who suffered the aforementioned data loss issue. Expect the frame to arrive by Monday!

About the upcoming Weapon Pack

If you've been following our dev blogs and announcements, you've likely seen that we've been working on a new weapon pack, and we've even teased a prototype.

While we initially hoped to release it this year, we regret to inform you that it won't be coming out this year. At this point, we don't have more details to share.

We understand this is disappointing, and trust us, we're just as frustrated about it as you are. We’re eager to get these weapons into your hands and will keep pushing to make that happen!

PC Hotfix 6.4.0 - Easy Anti-Cheat update + Hotfix 6.4.1

Heroes!

We’ve just pushed a patch that swaps our old version of Easy Anti-Cheat for the newest version. The previous version is scheduled to shut down on March 4, which would’ve meant no protection to the game from cheats or tampering unless we did this upgrade.

A couple of things to note about this change:

  • For normal gameplay, there should be no notable difference. The game will continue to run normally in both Official and Modded realms, and no extra actions need to be taken from you as players to continue playing.

  • Operating Systems that had incompatibility issues with our EAC may find those issues gone with this update. We still can only officially support Windows 10 & 11, but nonetheless there might be one barrier less in that aspect. ~~

  • The system necessary to support Sanctioned Mods is changing. This means that until sanctioned mods are updated by their authors, they might not work in the official realm.~~

  • We are currently in communication with mod authors to find the swiftest solution to this issue for all sanctioned mods.

  • Sanctioned Mods are now fixed as of Patch 6.4.0 without needing to update the original mods!

  • Connecting to other lobbies might take longer than usual at first. Will go back to normal after some time.

  • Versus Quickplay will be temporarily disabled as we update the servers.

We're working to fix the issues with Sanctioned Mods and Versus Quickplay Dedicated Servers as soon as possible, we'll keep you updated.

Hotfix 6.3.4 patch notes - 3rd of March

  • Replaced the Kamu Easy Anti-Cheat for Epic Online Service

  • Temporarily disabled Versus Quickplay / Dedicated Servers.

Heroes!

The second installment in the Verminous Dreams campaign,_ ‘Devious Delvings’_, is out now, free for all owners of Vermintide 2!

Devious Delvings

Having infiltrated the Skaven-infested ruins of the mythical Athel Lithri, our Heroes must now investigate the site to find out what it is that the verminous Pactsworn are scheming. The devastation and machinery suggest a massive project, but what are they after in this temple of all places?

Well, either way, better get to the bottom of it and smash every rat that comes your way. And the ones that don’t, too, for good measure (Saltzpyre agrees).

Just like the previous maps, Devious Delvings comes with its own set of Okri’s Challenges and rewards, such as a portrait frame and paintings!

Versus: Custom Game Settings

And for the Pactsworn enthusiasts, we’ve got an exciting new addition! When creating a player-hosted custom game, the host now has a suite of adjustable settings to tweak and modify how the match will play out! You can take the opportunity to make things super crazy, or to make your own competitive changes!

Some examples of the settings you can find in Custom Games:

  • Early Win toggle

  • Hero Bots toggle

  • Friendly Fire toggle

  • Number of Hero Wounds

  • Knocked down Hero health

  • Horde Ability charge rate

  • Pactsworn respawn timer

  • Pactsworn Catch up with Hero distance

  • Spawn distance from Heroes

  • Pactsworn Health

  • …And more!

On top of those and every other setting being added with this update, we plan on hopefully expanding that list with more and more settings as time goes on! Feel free to give us your own suggestions for settings you’d like to tinker with in Custom Games!

In the lobby browser, games that are playing with rules different from the default ones we use in Quickplay Servers will be flagged as having a modified ruleset.

Developer Stream today - 17:00 CEST - twitch.tv/fatsharkgames

We’ll be hosting a stream on our twitch today at 17:00 CEST! Level Design Lead **Rickard **and Art Director **Joseph **will be showing off the new mission as well as answering your questions and chatting with the community. Come hang out! twitch.tv/fatsharkgames

Heroes and Pactsworn!

This update brings a new dangerous toy for the Pactsworn side in Versus: A new playable monster, the Rat Ogre!

When the time comes for a Monster to spawn in a Versus match, Pactsworn players can choose between the Bile Troll and the Rat Ogre. While both are monsters, their way of assaulting the Hero team is very different, and so it is up to the players to choose the right tool for the job (or just the most fun!)

The Rat Ogre’s specialty is scrambling the Hero team through a frenzied assault. It excels at separating the Heroes and taking advantage of the chaos to chase after stragglers, pummeling away with wild, ferocious attacks that don’t give the defender room to breathe.

How to play the Rat Ogre

Similar to the Bile Troll and the Heroes, you’ve got light attacks and heavy attacks. Tapping your attack button (Default Keybind: Left Mouse Click) results in a series of fast but powerful attacks. Holding down the attack button results in a Heavy Attack, a downward slam with both fists that deals massive damage but is tricky to pull off!

Holding the secondary attack button (Default Keybind: Right Mouse Click) allows the Rat Ogre to prepare to Leap! Charge the leap for a short while and then aim. Once charged, you can release the button to launch yourself through the air, knocking any Heroes you land upon away and sending them flying all over. Perfect for making a dramatic entrance and throwing those pesky Heroes into disarray.

You can also find this information in the in-game Handbook!

What’s next?

We’re super excited about the release of Versus, it was a massive milestone for a project that we love and we’re glad that it’s been overall a fun time and well-received by the community!

But what’s next for Versus? Beyond the Rat Ogre, we’re looking to add more little things and tinker a bit more in the coming year! There’s a lot of very valid feedback that you guys have given that we want to address and we hope to be able to do that bit by bit in 2025. There are also small additions planned, such as Custom Settings to player-hosted games.

Other than Versus, we’ll continue working on the rest of the Verminous Dreams campaign maps (hope you’ve been having fun with The Forsaken Temple!), as well as a previously mentioned Weapon Pack which is still in the pipeline. Beyond that, well, we can’t reveal everything, can we?

Barring hotfixes, this will be the last Vermintide 2 update of the year, and what a blast it has been!

_We hope you enjoy the Holidays and the Gifts of the Wolf Father, and we hope you’ve had as much fun with this game this year as we have! See you next year, drengbarazi.

An update regarding the data loss issue:

Hey all, just checking in again with a progress update and some further information to share.

Our backend developers have a 3-step plan to restore the missing data:

  • Stage 1: Gather and collate account data from storages we have, and transfer this to another system which will be used for rebuilding missing account data

  • Stage 2: Conduct some wizardry in this system to organise the data (e.g. get the latest/highest/correct value for each statistic for each player) and prep it for being merged back in to our backend data

  • Stage 3: Update the backend and merge the rebuilt data into existing account data.

Stage 1 is in full swing and data is currently being downloaded and transferred to our system required to rebuild the missing data. This is a tremendous amount of account data, and will take some time to complete. We’re exploring whether we can scale this process up and complete it any faster, but for now an approximate estimate is that this stage will take a few weeks to complete.

Please bear with us, and we’ll continue to provide updates when we have more to share.

A big thank you for your continued patience during this process.
