Everything is Crab has evolved again; the 1.2 update is OUT NOW! Bringing plenty of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new content!

Now to address the shellephant in the room: the Patch Notes.

New Community Evolutions:

Projectile Tongue:

  • New Attack ability, Projectile Tongue!

  • Projectile Tongue will launch Darwin's tongue forward, damaging and stunning the first enemy hit.

  • The first enemy hit by the **Tongue **will be stunned.

  • While the Tongue is deployed, players are temporarily rooted in place.

  • Projectile Tongue is a 5-level Rare evolution.

  • Projectile Tongue is a part of the Trickster family.

  • Projectile Tongue is unlocked by completing Pressure 3 for the first time.

Projectile Tongue Specialisations:

  • Projectile Tongue also gains Specialisations at level 3 (2 with Expert).

  • These Specialisations are **Whiplash **and Sticky.

  • **Whiplash **will increase the Tongue's fire speed, allowing the attack to be used much faster.

  • **Whiplash **will also multiply Projectile Tongue damage by the player's Feeding speed.

  • **Sticky **Tongue has different effects depending on the player's size.

  • If the target is smaller than the player, **Sticky **will move the target towards the player like a Lasso.

  • **Sticky **can even be used to grab multiple resources at once, like food and rocks.

  • If the target is larger than the player, **Sticky **will pull the player towards the target like a Grappling hook.

  • If the target and player are of a similar size, they'll be pulled towards each other at speeds relative to the difference in weight

Pedal Glands:

  • New Passive ability, Pedal Glands!

  • Pedal Glands is a member of a brand new Archetype, Secretions.

  • Pedal Glands will create a slimy trail behind the player when nearby enemies are chasing them.

  • The Slime Trail will inflict **Slow **on enemies and bosses and will reduce their movement by an amount scaling with level and rarity.

  • If the player walks over the Trail, they will receive an increase in their Terrain adaptation scaling with level and rarity.

  • Pedal Glands is a 3-level Rare Evolution.

  • **Pedal Glands **is added to the Evolution Pool by having Slithery.

  • Pedal Glands is unlocked by completing Pressure 5 for the first time.

Pedal Glands Specialisations:

  • Pedal Glands also gains Specialisations at level 3 (2 with Expert).

  • These Specialisations are **Thick **and Nemertide.

  • **Thick **will amplify the Trail's slowing effect the longer enemies remain above the Trail.

  • **Thick **will also increase the width of the Trail.

  • If enemies remain on the Trail for long enough, they will be stunned.

  • Nemertide will make the Trail poisonous and will amplify all poison damage depending on how slowed the enemy is.

Spinnerets:

  • New Ultimate ability Spinnerets!

  • **Spinnerets **is a member of a brand new Archetype, Secretions.

  • When used, **Spinnerets **will deploy a large Spiderweb behind the player.

  • The Spiderweb will inflict **Slow **on any enemy and boss that walks over it, reducing their movement by 66%.

  • Enemies stunned by any source will receive 50% more damage.

  • The Spiderweb will not slow down the player.

  • **Spinnerets **is a 3-level Epic Evolution.

  • Spinnerets is unlocked by completing Pressure 10 for the first time.

  • Having Spinnerets makes you immune to being slowed by cobwebs from Clawdia.

Spinnerets Specialisations:

  • Spinnerets also gains Specialisations at level 3 (2 with Expert).

  • **Spinnerets **is the first Specialised ultimate ability!

  • These Specialisations are Trap and Egg Sec.

  • **Trap **will stun any enemy that touches the center of the cobweb for 3 Seconds.

  • Whilst Stunned by the Trap, enemies will receive 50% more damage.

  • Egg Sac will spawn a Cocoon in the center of the Web.

  • Players cannot damage their own Eggs.

  • Once the Web reaches the end of its duration, a new unique ally will emerge from the Cocoon. (See "New Friend")

New Evolution:

Alongside the community evolutions, a new **Dash, Jet, **Dashes into the game!

Jet:

  • New Dash ability, Jet!

  • On use, **Jet **will deploy all Secretion-type abilities that the player has acquired behind them.

  • **Jet **is added to the Evolution Pool by having **Tentacles **and a Secretion-type Evolution.

  • This currently affects both **Spinnerets **and Pedal Glands.

  • **Jet **is a Common 3-level evolution.

  • Jet is unlocked by completing Pressure 12 for the first time.

New Status effect:

  • Players can now utilise a new Status effect, Slow.

  • **Slow **does as described and will hinder an enemy's or boss's movement, allowing for easier escapes or guaranteed hits.

New Friend:
  • Emerging out of its Cocoon comes a brave new ally, the mighty Darwee!

  • The Darwee is half** Darwin, **half **Crawlee, **all lil' guy!

  • When hatched, the **Darwee **will inherit 100% of the player's Physical damage, Speed, and Terrain adaptation.

  • **Darwee **will not count towards the player's max Charmed allies and has an individual cap of 10 allowed at once

New Mechanic, Mid-Run Saving:
  • Players can now choose to save their run when they quit out.

  • The Mid-Run save will record the players' location, stats, Evolutions, and nearby creatures.

  • The Mid-Run save is available in Endless, Challenges, and regular Pressure Runs.

  • When players wish to resume their game, a new Button will be available in the main menu that also shows what Pressure/Challenge players are on and how long their session has been going on.

  • When Players resume their game, they will have a brief countdown and are briefly invulnerable to allow players to get adjusted.

  • Saving again or starting a New Run will overwrite this save.

  • The Save and Quit can't be used while players are in an Evolution/Point of Interest selection screen.

New Genetics:
  • Two new Genetics have joined the roster, Contrarian and Elitist.

Contrarian:

  • Contrarian will drastically increase the likelihood of lesser-picked Evolutions appearing but will buff their rarity to make them more appealing.

  • Evolutions which **Contrarian **has boosted will be shown with a small indicator in the Evolution screen.

  • **Contrarian **can be unlocked and added to the roster by completing the “Contrarian“ Achievement.

Elitist:

  • **Elitist **rewards players who go for the finer things, as selecting a New Legendary Evolution will instantly level up the player again; however, if the player ever selects a New Common Evolution, they will face a penalty and will have their max health reduced by 10%.

  • With **Elitist **equipped, selecting a New Legendary Evolution will level up the player immediately.

  • With **Elitist **equipped, selecting a New Common Evolution will reduce the player's Max HP by 10%.

  • Players will receive an in-game pop-up to warn them of the health reduction.

  • Upgrading a Legendary Evolution to level 2 or higher will not have the level-up effect.

  • **Elitist **cannot kill the player with its damage.

  • **Elitist **can be unlocked and added to the roster by completing the “Elitist“ Achievement.

Controller Snapping and Improvements:
  • Menu Navigation with a Controller has been greatly improved.

  • Now, with a controller, the Cursor will snap to button locations, which will allow easier and more seamless menu navigation.

  • Cursor control can still be accessed with the Right Thumbstick, but now the Left Thumbstick will easily snap to menu elements and interactive points.

  • The Up and Down Buttons on the D-Pad can now be used on Scroll Bars to allow faster access.

New Cosmetics:
  • Five new Cosmetics have been added, all based around the wild and wacky inhabitants of the world: Beewares Jaws, Beewares Snout, Turtoids Carapace, Sandsharks Claws & Pilferrets Tail.

  • Completing the “Pest Control” will unlock a new Cosmetic “Beewares Jaws”

  • Completing the “Poisonous Palette” will unlock a new Cosmetic “Beewares Snout”

  • Completing “Get Turtled” will unlock a new Cosmetic “Turtoids Carapace”

  • Completing “Best Pilfriends” will unlock a new Cosmetic “Pilferrets Tail”

  • Completing “Disguised” will unlock a new Cosmetic “Sandsharks Claws”

  • Beewares Jaws provides Darwin with a Beewares Gnarly Gnashers.

  • Beewares Snout will give Darwin a Bewware Snout, fun fact, Beewares are still not dogs.

  • Turtoids Carapace will protect Darwin with Turtoids' shell *Invulnerability not included.

  • Pilferrets Tail makes Darwin's tail longer, fluffier, and stripier.

  • Sandsharks Claws provide Darwin with the Earth-moving nails of a Sandshark.

New Features:

News Carousel:

  • Added a new section to the Main menu, the “News Carousel”

  • The main menu layout has been slightly adjusted to accommodate the new features.

  • The Carousel will be regularly updated to feature the latest news in and around the game.

  • The Carousel will also highlight key members of the community with the Fan Art Friday section.

Accessibility Settings:

  • Players can now increase or decrease the size of the combat cursor.

  • Players can now adjust the colour of the combat cursor in-game for easier visibility and with several colourblind options.

Achievements:

  • 8 New Achievements have been added, all of which are tied to the new Unlocks.

  • Elitist is awarded after upgrading Evolutions 20 times.

  • Completing Elitist will unlock the Genetic Elitist.

  • **Contrarian **is awarded after discovering 60 different Evolutions.

  • Completing **Contrarian **will unlock the Genetic Contrarian.

  • Selective Pressure 12 is awarded when completing Pressure 12 for the First Time.

  • Completing Pressure 12 will unlock the Evolution Jet.

  • **Pest Control **tasks players with putting down a bunch of the world's peskiest critters, the Beeware with Jaws.

  • Completing Pest Control will reward players with the Beewares Jaws cosmetic.

  • Best Pilfriends tasks players with eating a Golden fruit that's been delivered by an ally Pilferret.

  • Completing Best Pilfriends will reward players with the Pilferrets Tail cosmetic.

  • Disguised tasks players with bringing down a Sandshark while Fin is equipped.

  • Completing Disguised will reward players with the Sandshark's Claws cosmetic.

  • Get Turtle tasks players with using Turtle down to kill a Turtoid.

  • Completing Get Turtled will reward players with the Turtoid's Carapace cosmetic.

  • Poisonous Palette tasks players with eating 30 Poisonous Mushrooms.

  • Completing Poisonous Palette will reward players with the Beewares Snout cosmetic.

  • Additionally, Selective Pressures 3, 5, 10, & 12 have had their rewards updated to show that they unlock: Projectile Tongue, Pedal Glands, Spinnerets, and Jet, respectively.

Quality of Life Changes:

General:

  • The Evolutions page of the Codex has been reworked to now include Rarity levels for every Evolution, allowing players to now view the stats for all Evolutions at all tiers and at all levels.

  • Improved World map generation: maps will now feature more elements such as flora, rocks, and trees in more locations; large areas will no longer appear barren.

  • More Terrain decorations have been added throughout the world in the Grass, Sand, and Snow biomes.

  • Massive pass on spelling and grammar in all areas!

  • Sliders in the Settings menu are now visibly highlighted while selected.

  • Challenges in the Challenge menu are now highlighted when hovered or navigated with a Controller.

  • Languages are now highlighted in the initial language selection screen.

  • Genetics in the Genetics section of the Codex can now be hovered over for previews.

  • Players can now more reliably close Drop-downs in the Settings with button presses, Escape on K/M, and the back button on Controller.

  • Text size has been standardised in the main menu.

Achievements:

  • **Full Cast **can now be unlocked in all areas; players are no longer required to complete another run for the Achievement to pop if the last Genetic was unlocked anywhere outside of a regular run.

Enemies & Bosses:

  • Arena walls will now come down if a boss somehow manages to escape the Bramble.

Twitch:

  • Active chat viewers are now more weighted to appear as ‘Named Enemies’ in runs.

  • Updated text for ‘Show named allies’ pop-up.

Balancing:

Genetics:

  • **Chosen **will no longer offer upgrades or Branching Evolutions.

  • **Chosen **will now only offer 3 New Legendary Evolutions.

Evolutions:

  • Players no longer need to stay within a circle for **Constriction's **duration.

  • **Constriction **will inflict damage over time and stun any nearby target until the player moves or after 5 seconds.

  • Players can utilise other attacks while **Constriction **is in effect without breaking the Stun, but do have to remain in the same spot.

  • **Constriction **can still hit multiple targets at once.

  • Prevented Antlers' self-damage from dealing more than 90% of the player's Max HP.

Enemies & Bosses:

  • **Clawdia **will no longer spawn eggs while performing her other attacks at the same time.

  • **Spiderfrogs' **attack is now faster but has a longer cooldown.

  • **Shellephant **will continue rolling while stunned, but stunning her while rolling will now massively reduce her speed.

  • Bosses now have much lower base Stun resistance, but will gain Stun resistance throughout the fight; the more the player stuns a boss, the higher the Stun resistance they will have.

  • Players will receive an in-game pop-up to inform them that a boss's Stun resistance has been increased.

Bug Fixes:

General:

  • Buttons and Glyphs no longer overlap the Character sheet button when opening the pause menu for the first time.

  • Audio/ Visual sliders no longer exceed their boundaries.

  • Resolved an issue which caused the Growing Tree only to provide buffs to the player's Attack penalty stat.

  • Fixed an issue with Steam Decks launching in an incorrect resolution.

  • Fixed an issue which caused some pop-ups to extend off-screen while using a Steam Deck or when in a 16:10 Resolution.

  • **Burrows **now protect against Soak.

  • Resolved an issue that was causing end-of-run death tips to display no text occasionally.

  • Updated Cyrillic text to include a few characters which were missing.

  • Pressing escape now works on the Pressure selection screen after backing out from the Genetics screen.

  • Attack/ Dash panels will now reliably auto-open when players have enough Attacks and dashes in the Evolution screen.

  • If players are aiming an attack before the level up, the Cursor will no longer act erratically.

  • Updated Pressure level 20 to use the correct character in the Codex while in Traditional Chinese.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented new attacks/dashes/abilities from being equipped immediately

Controller:

  • Fixed the **Patient **Skip Button Prompt appearing over the Stats panel while using a Controller.

  • Players can use the dedicated button tied to skipping when skipping Specialisations.

  • Fixed a soft lock caused by Controllers disconnecting during Extinction fade to white screens.

  • Fixed the Codex continuously scrolling when quickly pressing D-pad Down followed by LB/RB.

Evolutions:

  • Stinger Tail no longer clips over Cortex.

  • Stinger visuals are now present in all attack frames.

  • Using **Moulting **during a Blizzard will no longer launch the player in the wind direction.

  • Getting Stunned whilst charging up **Stoner **will no longer cause audio issues to persist.

  • Toe Beans will now deal damage to Clawdias eggs.

  • **Spit **will no longer collide with Cobwebs.

  • **Spit **will now collide with more world elements such as Rocks and Trees.

  • **Spit's **projectile will now appear over the top of other world elements like shrubs and fruit.

  • Fixed a typo in Nomadics description.

  • Fixed a typo in Size tooltip description.

  • Fixed delay on using other abilities after using Sharpen.

  • Fixed delay on using other abilities after using Lick Wounds.
