Patch 1.3 is live!

Operators! We know it's been a little quiet on our end recently, but that’s only because we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes on an important update. Today, we’re tackling one of the more critical issues: the steep learning curve for new players.

Why This Matters

We've been investigating this problem and we've found that while plenty of new players try WW3, only a small number stick around after the first few days. The main reasons are that they are matched against seasoned veterans and lack the knowledge and tools to compete with them.

That's what we started to address a few patches ago with new, much more powerful default loadouts and balance changes, but this patch brings our most significant improvements yet.

The main difference: a new matchmaking algorithm for new players, a new map for them, and the addition of bots.

How it works

Now new players will play their first 2 matches against each other and bots only. No veterans allowed. This will allow them to learn the basics in a safe, stress-free environment. The Ruins of Gobi map was designed specifically for new players, and with the latest changes, it will finally fulfill that role.

At the same time, if there aren't enough players in the queue - bots will come to help: all free slots in Stronghold mode matches will now be filled with bots. They will try to accomplish the task of capturing the point on the map and killing enemies along the way. Don't worry though, they are not merciless killing machines yet, they have been specifically designed to be easy targets.

After the first 2 matches, new players will be placed in regular lobbies for the time being.

That's just the first step. We want to continue to improve the matchmaking system and guide new players on their journey to mastery of WW3. We have more changes in the works and will announce them when the time is right.

Ruins of Gobi improved

The Ruins of Gobi map has also been significantly improved: we've made changes to the map layout to alleviate some of the bottlenecks we noticed. We've also made a lot of art style changes to make the map feel much more alive.

Helping new players to learn the ropes

We've also added daily and weekly challenges to the main screen, so new players will have some goals to accomplish. We plan to add more challenges specifically for them, as the old ones may no longer be relevant.

Performance optimizations

At the same time, we continue to work on optimizing the game. The following maps should now perform better: Shibuya, Moscow, Moscow Senate, Berlin Backyards.

List of changes

Gameplay Optimization

  • Training bots have been added to the starting map “Ruins of Gobi” to help new players adapt

  • Players are now divided into newcomers (first 2 matches) and the main pool

  • Stronghold matches will now auto-fill with bots when necessary

Map Update

  • A new flank route has been added to the “Ruins of Gobi” map to enhance tactical possibilities

  • Art style improvements

  • Lighting fixes

New Content

  • Five new offers have been added to the launcher shop. Each includes:

  • A unique operator

  • A pre-configured weapon loadout

  • Some offers are themed for May 8th and 9th (Victory in Europe Day)

Technical Improvements

  • Patch file sizes have been optimized to reduce launcher update times and improve delivery via Steam CDN

  • Asset and lighting optimization on following maps: Shibuya, Moscow, Moscow Senate, Berlin Backyards

UI Update

  • Daily and weekly challenges added to the main screen

Free Evergreen Battle Pass has arrived with the Update 1!

Operators, it's time to show you the new content we've prepared for World War 3!

As you know - there were no content updates last year. We've been concentrating on technical improvements. But we heard you asking for new content! We had to push ourselves to deliver.

At the same time, we wanted to thank you all for sticking with us in a meaningful way. Without you, this game would not have survived. So as a token of our gratitude, we decided to make this Battle Pass free for all of you: those who have stuck with us through all the setbacks, those who have decided to give the game another chance, and all the new players who are coming to give it a try.

We've poured our hearts and souls into it. Let us celebrate this as the beginning of a new era for World War 3!

Evergreen Battle Pass:

The free Evergreen Battle Pass includes lots of new content! The formula has not changed significantly from its previous counterparts: 50 levels await you. Each level with a prize requires 3000 XP to unlock. If you don't have much time to play the game, you can skip each level or buy all the BP content for UNC. Prizes include new weapons, strikes, operators, blueprints and customizations.

Here is a tiny slice of what we have prepared for you:
Main Battle Tank Panther

The Panther was developed by Rheinmetall as a private venture and a competition to the planned MGCS main battle tank program in order to replace the aging Leopard 2 series of Main Battle Tanks while keeping things affordable. That is why the entire concept is rather conventional and using tried and true pieces of technology despite some innovative approaches to various issues that plague modern MBTs.

RAK Artillery

A laser-guided heavy mortar that covers a laser-pointed target with a short burst of high-explosive rounds, effective against all targets.

Battle Rifle MSBS-N

The big brother of the MSBS family, the MSBS-N packs a serious punch thanks to the 7.62 NATO cartridge. This version is not capable of fully automatic fire, but makes up for this shortcoming with improved and reduced recoil.

Assault Rifle WSW-15

Chambered in .300 Blackout, the compact WSW-15 offers surprising firepower for its size. Equipped with a compact barrel, this rifle makes short work of enemies at close quarters. When you need extra accuracy at long range, switch to burst fire.

We don't want to spoil everything! To find out about all 50 prizes, simply log into the game and see for yourself.

*Note: To unlock bonus content in BP - you need to "buy" the standard version of the BP for 0 UNC.

*Note 2: MBT Panther currently has limited armor customization, we'll bring more in future updates.

Of course, new content is not the only thing in this update. We have also made improvements and fixed a number of issues. See the full list of changes below:

General:
  • Several rare graphics bugs have been fixed

  • Many minor localization fixes have been made in all supported languages

Maps:
Smolensk:
  • Collision model added to several boxes
Polyarny:
  • Fixed a rare black rectangle bug when loading into battle
Weapons:
  • PZPR Piorun: Now available on first level to counter flying drones

That's it for the Update 1. We hope you'll enjoy new content!

We've got more content in the works, we'll let you know when the time is right.
